  1. I have dealt with them for the past 8 years and never had a problem. Talk to Ellen or Rena. They are very nice to work with and will make good anything that went wrong.

I just received my order yesterday (wax, stickums, lids, FO's) and all were just fine.

    Call them please.

I know it's frustrating to get an order that has a leak, but that IMO is rare for them. I would have to say, they are one supplier that package very well and securely.

  2. Candles and Supplies carries the 24 cavity clamshells:

    http://newcart.candlesandsupplies.com/Store/Products/Candles/PID-CLAM-24.aspx

You can get them for as low as $ 0.71 cents each if you order in bulk.

I ordered 10 of these 24 cav. clamshells. I like them, however, unlike the 6-cav clamshells, you cannot pour outside the cavity itself, thus making each cavity separate from the others. No "flat" area on top of the cavities to pour a solid "top". Am I making sense? I would think this is way too much work. Once you put the lid down there is no room left.

    Carries 4 oz. of wax.

I like the other big clamshells if they had the ability to pour like the orig. 6-cav.

  3. I'm rural and have a homeowners policy that does allow up to 800 sq. ft. of area for home based business to be covered. My 800 sq. ft. is not in my house, it's in a separate building behind my house. I've been covered since I started 9 years ago.

  4. I love making these types of gifts! I love gift baskets! They are sooo much fun! Allows you to use so much creativity.

One of the showers they are having has 20 hostesses (me and my BIL are two of them - so we won't be getting one of these).

The bride wanted Pink Sugar so I found these crates I've have for a while, added olive green crinkle shred, candle and lotion (love these lotion bottles and pumps - they were overstock at WSP and they don't have anymore! boo hoo!). I will also be shrink wrapping them once it gets here.

Anyway, I suggested nephew make a brand and I used in on both sides of the crate. N for Nelson, backwards B for Bradley and R for Regina.

    Thanks for looking!

  5. I use 6006 with 15% added soy. Heat to 185-190, add dye and stir real well (a must when adding in the soy), add FO and pour into room temp. jars. After pouring, I crowd them together and fix the wicks. Let them cool slowly. I just leave them alone. Cooling too fast will create sink holes.

I've never had to do a repour. Smooth tops and creamy appearance.

CD wicks work great in this wax.

A couple more qustions regarding 6006. For those that use this do you always get nice creamy smooth tops or do you get crackling or uneven color discoloration on top?

I have used this for quite some time and it seems like I always have had nice tops just had to fight the sink hole issue occasionally.

Lately I seem to be having problems with this. It seems like my tops don't look nice and smooth anymore. I can't figure out if something is going on with this case of wax or if the colder weather is causing problems for me. They aren't really "cracking" but they do have color variations that makes it not look nice and pretty and creamy. I even have been covering with a box. I pour around 170-180 so I don't think I am pouring at the wrong temp.

Just for the heck of it I pulled out some onld Taylored replacement 30/70 wax I had. (70% paraffin/20% soy and 10% petro) They compare this to the 6006 but I can tell it's sligthly different. These candles look beautiful. Nice and creamy, beautiful coloring and no sink holes.

Even made me think about switching to it. However I am test burning two candles exactly the same except for one has the Taylored wax and one has 6006. While the Taylored one is performing well enough I think the 6006 is giving off a slightly better HT. The 6006 is burning faster though and reached full melt pool faster.

So I think if I can ever get my wicking figured out so that I am satisfied with it I'll try the 85% 6006 and 15% ezsoy tip and see how that works out.

If anyone has any experience or suggestions with the top appearance thought I would appreciate it. I am not even getting much in the way of wet spots. Just this crazy top situation.

  6. Some recipes are very generic and anybody can do those. There is one in particular that I created, that is my best seller all year, that I included in my price. They may want to copyright, I won't.

Oh girl, I won't be doing this as a business anymore. I'm done. Really. But it's funny, that when I come on the board everyday, I still check the classified for deals! LOL Habit....

I have a question. If you are selling your recipes are you then still allowed to use them? Just in case you decide to start a new biz later you may want to keep copyright and not sell that; just the recipes.
  7. Thanks everyone for your ideas and suggestions.

I did come up with a price based on:

    Company Name

    Domain name, website with graphics

    Supplier List

Wholesale Customers (they are all going to stay with the new owner as long as he/she creates the same product, no changes)

    150 lb. wax melter

    Training

    Scent and color recipes

Tons of retail and wholesale email addresses

Anything else over above is sold separately, only because I'm still pouring and using my current inventory.

I know the economy will play a big part if it doesn't sell. BUT, I'm not going to "give away" my business. I've worked way too hard to just take a couple thousand... If I don't sell it, that's OK too, I'll just sell my equipment/supplies and move on.

One thing that I have done to protect myself after I'm officially closed is keeping my liability insurance, at least for a couple more years. I dropped the equipment/supply coverage and raised the deductible a bit. Dropped the yearly cost by $125.

We shall see. My official close date is March 31st. :yay::(

  8. I have a 10 lb. bag of the fine grain and am wondering if I can just scent it and package.

Scent-Works says is a great additive to bath salts...

Since I'm closing I don't want to purchase any more materials, but would love to use it.

I was thinking about scenting it and packaging in the stand-up zip loc type window bags (can't remember what they are called).

    Thanks for any help!

  9. I have 144 2.25 oz. oyster cups to pour for my nephews wedding.

I don't have but a few to test. What wick would you use?

    6006 + 15% Soy

FO: Vanilla Voodoo (candle cocoon) 1 oz. PP

    Blue cajuns liquid dye

Also, what about the 3 oz. clear glass votive holders?

I have 138 of those to pour.....

I use CD's in my 8 oz and 16 oz sq. mason jars.

Can you use an LX wick?

    TIA for any help.

  10. This time of the year mine are on pretty much 24/7, I keep them at 150 and if I have to do a major pour the next day, I crank it up to 185-195 and never have issues. If I don't get my temp up pretty high, yea, they are stopped up and have to whip out the heat gun, but that's only because I get impatient.:rolleyes2

Hmmmm........ Did you say your spigots are brass? Mine are.
