  1. blt,

I so understand what you are going thru. I wanted to sell in 2009 and 2010 and me/husband decided on 1 more year. Well, at the end of 2010, I just knew

it was time to let her go. I was however very fortunate and found 2 local ladies wanting to buy my company. I now have way more time to do

the fun stuff like vacations. Believe me, it was very hard to let go. But, for me, it was exactly what me and my family needed and wanted.

Best of luck to you in 2013!

    Carrie

  2. Yes, they sure do! I make them from some BAD wax I got from Lonestar years ago. I have about 4 cases. I use those paper portion cups, put in some

sawdust and a wick portion that was trimmed off when I made candles, add some color and they sell like crazy! They sold real well for me when I put them into

    those bakery bags.

  3. What's your name? Carrie

    How old are you? 52

    Where do you live? Texas

How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever? 10 years

How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever? A friend of mine took me to her cousins candle party. I purchased about 4 candles and spent $72! Holy carp! I then decided to try my hand and making candles. I ordered stuff online and my friend and I started making candles (after alot of research on the net). They came out OK. Continued to educate myself and lots of testing. Started pouring to sell in 2001. I would love to dive into soap, but just haven't yet.

Are you married? Any kids? Yes and I have two boys (28 yrs old from 1st M and 14 yr old current M).

If candle making isn't your primary job, what do you do? I make tarts/melts and have them in the local Tan Salon. I work as an Oil & Gas Accountant for an individual for the past 12 years.

Anything else we should know? I sold my candle biz Jan 2011 to two wonderful ladies in my area. I live on a ranch with 2 horses, cows and have 5 dogs (Daxter, Nugget, Caden, Checkers and Bonnie - all rescues). I love to ride 4 wheelers thru the mud and work in my yard. My 78 yr old mother lives on our property in an apt we built for her 4 years ago. My oldest son is in the Navy Reserves (did a 4 year tour 2002-2006) and works full time. He will be leaving in March 2013 on a volunteer tour to Jabuti, Africa. My youngest is a Freshman this year and plays on the HS football team. Go Tigers!

  4. I know this may sound gross...but I've mixed Leather with BAby Powder. It's awesome! We called it Western Wedding.

If you mix it with Drakkar its awesome and was a best seller for me when I had my biz. (sold my biz 1/2011).

    You could call it Wrangler's.

  5. Welcome to the candlemaking addiction!

I used 6006 and added 15% ez soy per pound of 6006. HT was fantastic! Creamy appearance and just really nice looking candle.

I used the 8 oz and 16 oz. square mason jars (not familiar with your 5 oz) and used CD wicks. In the 8 oz. jar I used a CD14 in the 16 oz. jar I used a CD16, for

most of the FO's I used. Heated to 190 and poured after mixing color and scent. I did not heat the jars either. (I use to with the old J50).

I've since sold my business last year, but if you'd like to try some CD wicks I'd be happy to send you some free (i have tons left).

Well, this is just what worked for me. Just thought I'd throw that out.

    Good luck!
