  1. Chai tea from Just Scent is very strong and lastinng. I have not tried NG.
  2. [(amount of fragrance by weight) divided by (fo percentage load you use)] Example: you have .7 ounces of FO and you usually add 9%FO ppwax. (.7/.09)=7.78 ounces of wax.
  3. I use a lot of different waxes. If you want firm tarts that don't smear and pop out of the warmer easily, you need a firmer wax then just container. I mix container wax with pillar (about 50/50) to get a good firmness. With soy, I use the 416 tart wax from golden brands. It takes A LOT of FO for a strong tart. (I get this wax from Soycandle.com). It is a terrible addiction! Have fun!
  4. Top, please, no excuses. I look to you. You can't find lard? Ok, you are in NYC. Reasonably, not the lard capitol. If you are truly dedicated to this project, you must endure. I don't know if you are ready to render lard. The WAX GEEK card (up for renewal) does not cover pig wax....
  5. Seriously, what is the average temp in the melt pool? And what would be too hot? (Disregard the friggin FIRE in the middle)
  6. Feeling dry and scaly? Simply dip your fingers into some good ol hot wax! aAhhh....
  7. I can find the deep ones, but I need the flat ones. I've been all over the web, it seems. TIA.
  8. Baco FO! Oh yeah. I actually think they make that.
  9. Okay, I am waiting for this candle. And pics. Anyone have any suggestions on what FO goes well with pig wax???
  10. Okay, who's brave wnough to make a lard candle? (Certified, organic, free-range runts only!)... it shouldn't be too different than making a candle out of a stick of butter which was talked about here earlier... We might be on to something... Pig wax... I like it.
  11. There is something about ocolor that seems to enhance the whole thing with candles and tarts. One time I accidentally colored a banana tart blue and it was really strange, almost upsetting, lol. I think it's all about perception. Working with color is fun, too. I don't know what affect it would have on sales, but I know I enjoy working with color.
  12. I definitely cut back on some of Peak's oils. Apple Jack and peel and Amish Harvest are two.
  13. I just cant believe the 20 watt one isn't as hot as the 12 watt one. (I know because of my handy dandy temp gun -- couldn't live without it.) I was so mad! I couldn't smell anything with the new one.
  14. Family Gathering is really nice too. I smell a lot of apples in it, very cozy.
  15. Oh dear, Missy!! I didn't even know they had a supplier announcement section. Just what I need, lol....
  16. Oh great! Now I'm off to order too! I love her peony white tea. At this rate I won't be able to buy the kids xmas presents.... Do you think they'd take candles??? LMAO
  17. I am new to all of this, how do I participate in a co-op? :embarasse
  18. That is awesome Steph! I was thinking of trying Peak's cinnamon buns too! How much FO per lb did you use?
  19. I just ordered one from Levine gifts, said 20 watts, and my wax is cooler than the cheapo from hobby lobby, which says 12 watts! How ODD! Does anyone know where I could find a good, hot warmer for wickless candles? TIA, Kass
  20. Great idea, Gravity, just don't mix it in with the good candles! ... unless there's a certain ex-boyfriend who deserves a special candle... lol
  21. First ,let me say that I have never tried this before and I do not know if it is safe, but I have read where one may add 30% petro (vaseline) or crisco to make a one pour container wax. If someone has tried the BTW, let me know how it worked?
  22. Try fabric softener sheets. I have heard that they really keep those critters away; apparently they HATE them
