  1. I would like a sticky about what FO throw well in tarts and last as well. That would be really cool...
  2. Try Lonestar Candle Supply for J223. I believe they are out of Dallas. They ship SUPER fast to San Antonio. I order it one day and it's on my step the very next. Shipping was reasonable too!
  3. Peak's Clean Cotton smells really nice and worked well in my GB444 soy.
  4. I just got my sample order today. I like their scents, very complex. However, they smell really really strong. Please, does anyone use this company and what percentage (for candles) do you use compared to other companies? (by the way, sultry angel is soooo nice!)
  5. grrrr... They're out of stock. Thanks anyway.
  6. Where to find this wax? I'm having trouble finding it when I do a search. TIA
  7. I just got a 15 wt cute as pie warmer from Greenleaf for 7.50. It's awesome!!!
  8. I found this on the web. I'm still new at all this, but I thought it this might be false information. "Since fragrance costs twenty times more than wax, highly scented candles cost more than the cheap ones you can buy at the discount store. Very highly scented candles like Courtney’s Candles actually have little liquid pockets of scent oil that you can see thru the glass container. [isn't that dangerous?] Soy wax candles are recent fad on the candle scene. Their makers tout the advantage of a lower tendency to produce soot. The problem is that soy wax will only hold about half the fragrance load of high quality paraffin wax, so you don’t get all that much scenting power with a soy candle."
  9. wickchick, I use GB 444, which is soft. They're just for me though, so it doesn't matter. It seems to work ok, but I'm pretty new to all of this.
  10. I have found that some fragrances last a long time (10 hours) and others fade in 3 hours! Can anyone recommend some FO that don't fade? So far I've had the best luck with Peak's oils.
  11. Holly, Yes it was Peaks. I was really dissappointed. It seemed like a really balanced cookie smell. (I hate it when it's too rich, like cheesecake.) Interesting about the soy though! Everybody always thinks the parafin is better. Maybe not for food smells?
  12. I tested sugar cookie today in my tarts. I was not impressed. I love the smell, but it didn't have a strong throw. It did better in staight soy for me then the blend I tried it in today, which surprised me. Oh well. I would like to know of a good sugar cookie, anyone?
  13. I have two electric simmer pots to melt tarts. When the tart is fully melted, the wax melts at about 185. In the other, it's 212! Is that too hot??
  14. My husband isn't a big fan of food scents, he prefers friut scents and clean scents. I love the food smells!!! Anyway, I wondered if any of you had any input on scents that MEN tend to like.
  15. I found this on the web: "The molecular structure of soy wax contains various types of chemical bonds that make it harder to break down than paraffin wax. Its structure is more prone to trapping scent, than allowing it to evaporate freely. It takes more heat to break down these chemical bonds, therefore, you will need to use hotter burning wicks when making soy candles. Try increasing your wick size. Also, we suggest that you use 1.5 ounces of fragrance per pound of soy wax with the majority of our fragrances. If you are still not happy with the scent throw of your soy wax candles, consider using a soy/paraffin blend wax."
  16. I just wondered if anyone knew the reasons that soy does't throw as well as parafin? I've accepted this to be true, but I'm curious about the actual reasons behind it...
  17. Their pumkin pie is very strong. I was really happy with it.
  18. Medium throw in my soy tarts. I would have liked it a little stronger. Nice scent, though
  19. I don't have a brown die, so logically there must be some combination of the basic colors that can make brown... right? I have red, green, yellow, and blue... Hmmm.
  20. I found them at shop.com and they are only 2.99! They are the Walter drake.
  21. I really don't like yankee candles, but the sell good electric tart warmers. I prefer the one piece deal, not the heating plate with the dish on top. They go for about 20 dollars each.
  22. Any ideas on how to get make that one or anyone who has it?
  23. I just ordered this one too. I am so excited to try it. I'm glad to hear that it smells so awesome!
  24. My first batch of tarts and boy am I pleased! This is my first try at tarts and I couldn't be happier. I'm afraid I might have a serious addiction! I put my tart in the simmer pot at 7:30 before I left for work, and when I arrived home at 2 I could smell the sucker before I even put in the key! Yippie! I am so happy. It was raspberry heaven.... Now, what other scents must I try???
