  1. ....makes me want another hobby. Looks great.
  2. So then.... if crisco = soy...then does vaseline = paraffin? Just curious because we use oodles of it on baby bottoms and for many other uses. IMO natural doesn't always mean that it's better/ safer/ healthier. It's a money cow.... kind of like holidays. I say....choose your poison.
  3. I have fairly good luck with JS oils. Almost all of them throw well for me. (I use a parasoy). I love citrus linen h20, st. nicks lane, asian spice, festival of lights, frost bite, oxygen..... off the top of my head. And what doesn't work in wax....if I love it and it's skin safe.... I put it into lotion.
  4. I 2nd their bear claws. Great Hot throw! I liked just about every oil I got. I loved their ocean scent..... but couldn't get it to throw well in soy or a blend. Japanese plum was a great thrower too....
  5. How floral are we talking? Headache type? Or a good balance? TIA
  6. I could order the Amber as well..... Does Peaks Country Garden have a hint of green to it? If so, I may give it a whirl because I also need their Mary Jane fo.
  7. It really is. I might have to break down and just order it from Pourette.
  8. I LOVE the candle source fo's. I use a 50/50 blend....and haven't been disappointed in any of the fo's I have tried. Shipping is fast as well....and customer service is great.
  9. I put Flower Shop from Pourette into my parasoy wax.....and I LOVE it. Some florals I can't stand but this one smells like you are literally walking in a flower shop and the hot and cold throw is great! You can smell the flowers and the greenery too. (Did I word/sp that right?) Anyhow, do any of you know of a floral scent from other companies that would be similar? I hate to order only one item from Pourette....and they are far from me. I was looking at French Market from GL....has anyone poured this? And if so, can you smell the green in it? Thanks so much for your help!
  10. Yes.... I will go with your advice about the wicks. I was just reading that the zinc wicks are "coolest" burning...which might not be so good for soy. I will give the LX's a whirl. I don't really care for the self trimming thing.....so I will stay away from HTP's (I think I read they are self trimming) I will get the wick thing down eventually..... I had to stop burning the CD16...the further down it burned, the more it sooted. Back to the drawing board!! We need a smiley pulling out its hair.... would be sooooo appropriate. This hobby is going to drive me to drink....
  11. I was wondering about that. I have only tried the CD's..... mainly because I got them when I first started this hobby and was starting out using all soy. I was thinking of trying zinc wicks next...or would LX's be a better bet? I think I will be getting some sample packs.... Thanks for your help!
  12. Oh my....as I am learning! I didn't burn the CD18 down all the way because it was sooting way too much. But the CD16...it soots a little...the flame dances....and after the third burn, the container got a bit hot to the touch. I will continue testing....pull my hair out... test more.....go crazy.... you know the drill.
  13. Ahhhhhhh.... ok. I will burn this one down all the way then....and take notes.
  14. I thought I got a full melt pool way too fast with the 16 too. The jar wasn't too hot at all either..... just a bit warm torward the top. I really don't get it. I am wondering if it's the fo load too. I am going to do a couple more burns with the 16, see how it goes, and then give the 14 a whirl. If that doesn't do the trick, I will try a lower fo load. Last resort, I will try different wicks. Thanks for the encouragement!! And I will let you know how it goes.
  15. Yes, I am keeping the wick trimmed.... and there's no breeze at all. With the 18...1st burn.... it took 3 hours to reach a full melt pool about 1/2inch depth. (weird huh? I Have no clue why it took so long compared to the 16). I got a full melt pool with the 16 in 1hour and 20 minutes with 1/2 inch depth!! It soots a lot less...... still dances ....and the hot throw is better. I will try it with a 14 and see how it does. If it burns better but still soots I will try with less fo. Thanks Meridith and Crowded House for your quick reply!!!
  16. I am hoping someone can guide me in the right direction. I have poured a candle using TC 50/50 wax. The jar is a 16oz wide mouth Mason. No dye. FO is Citrus Linen h20 at 9%. First I started with a CD18. The flame danced like crazy and sooted. I did get a full melt pool (tiny amount of hangup during 1st burn). The wick was the appropriate length. Not the greatest hot throw. Then I repoured, everything the same except using a CD16. The wick still dances and still is sooting (small amount of soot) but the hot throw is much better. Now, would it be the fO load that is contributing to this problem (soot)? Or is it the wick size? I haven't tried any other wick because I really am not sure of what to try. Maybe zinc wicks? Any advice would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!! p.s. just so you have all the info: Heated wax to 190*, added FO at 175*, poured into heated jar. Only cured overnight.
  17. I have them both....and honestly I can't tell a difference between them. They both smell exactly alike....and they throw the same (both have a great hot and cold throw). HTH
  18. Ok, so if anyone else does have this problem now or in the future..... you have to adjust your cookies (under your privacy setting on your computer). My cookies were set too high..... I adjusted it, and now I can add more than one item to the shopping cart.
  19. They do have great customer service. I order from them as well, and have never had a problem. They are very prompt to reply when you have a question, so I am sure they will reslove your problem quickly. Sorry this happened to you.... I know how exciting it is to get started!!
  20. Thanks for trying it out. I remember someone had the same issue not too long ago. Computers are a pain in the ....
  21. Is anyone having problems ordering? I try to add items to the shopping cart.... but it isn't working. It only allows me to have one item in the cart Just curious if anyone else is having an issue.... or if it's my computer. TIA
  22. I'm with the others for CandleScience mistletoe. It's great....and throws really well.
  23. Aahhhhhhh.... ICS version smells sweet and fruity....and it seems to be pretty strong. I colored mine dark purple... I was close!!!
  24. Apple Maple Bourbon is FANTASTIC! I loved Mistletoe too. Hmmmmmmm Hansel and Gretels house..... Mac Apple..... Honeysuckle Jasmine (was out of stock, and I can see why)....... Med. Fig and Fig forest.....and Rain Water....Frankinsense and Myrrh....Strudal and Spice.... I really like a lot of them Still have several to test. But there's definately a lot of keepers.
  25. I have poured a wickless with love spell from ICS.... and it has a great hot throw. I am not sure if it is an exact dupe of VS because I have no clue what love spell smells like....but my hubby loves it
