Looking for something that would be good to put on chapped noses in the up coming fall season... I was thinking of a balm with some shea or cocoa butters in it? I guess some chapstick recipie's would work also... just wondering if anyone had come across something specific for chapped noses?
The lotion bottles are Naples bottles and you can buy them from SKS I love them! There were the first ones I bought and I'm spoiled... just can't bring myself to use the simple round or oval ones now.
Been working on labels for some of my products... NO ONE laugh at the bubbles and crooked labels... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/memnochskat/Crafts/CIMG1307.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/memnochskat/Crafts/CIMG1323.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/memnochskat/Crafts/CIMG1308.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/memnochskat/Crafts/CIMG1325.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/memnochskat/Crafts/CIMG1311.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/memnochskat/Crafts/CIMG1312.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/memnochskat/Crafts/CIMG1315.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/memnochskat/Crafts/CIMG1314.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/memnochskat/Crafts/CIMG1320.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/memnochskat/Crafts/CIMG1310.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v224/memnochskat/Crafts/CIMG1309.jpg
Well here's how my test went: Poured first layer at 165 into a pre heated mold Poured Second Layer at 180 while first layer was still warm Waited till cool and dip had formed and poured first layer around 190-195 The bottom layer isn't smooth.... it's pitted and looks like there were a million bubbles in the wax Second layer has a few pits in it Last Top off layer is smooth and creaming. The layers blended together well. No jump lines and no seam lines between layers. Am I correct in thinking the low temp of the first layer is what caused most of the pits? Would it work better if I did first layer at 170 Second at 180 and top off at 190-190?
Layers should still be warm when you pour... however the very last pour, what I call the top off pour, the votive should have cooled down before you pour this. It gives it time for the wax to sink in and settle, the top off pour fills in the dip left by the cooling wax.
Accidently posted this under the wrong forum *silly me* Regular Votive Instructions can be found here : http://www.candletech.com/votives/ I'm interested on ideas for Layered Votives... I'm thinking that maybe I can pour the first layer at 165 into pre heated Votive Molds *niffty heat gun* Second Layer 180 while the first layer is still a bit warm Top off layer at 190 after everything has cooled down? Does this sound about right? Anyone have any suggestions, temp corrections, ideas for 3 layers in a votive?

Also if you have Microsoft Word, you can get on their website and they have many downloadable templates for Word that you can customize to your liking Not only for Invoices, but for packing lists, inventory, resume's, and all kinds of letters.
I need an idea of what kind of preservative to use on this and how much. 1/2 cup melt and pour clear soap base 1/2 cup sweet almond oil 3/4 cup epsom salts *or salts of your choice* 1 tsp fragrance oils or appropriate amount of EO's a few drops b&b safe colorant The first thing my mom did when she tried this is get her hands wet and then dip her fingers into the jar.... LOL
I'd like to get a new scale. Something worthy of soap making! And other random B&B making I'd like it to handle more than just 5 pounds! And to read as low as one gram or lower if possible My little 2 gram minimum scale is driving me nuts! Anyone have any good suggestions?
Well for starters. You must let the dry COMPLETELY before packaging! Big plus if you have a dehydrator in the room. I packaged mine inside those clear gift boxes with handles. However the soap rubbed up against the sides and left smears. So I started to wrap them up in tissue first and then placed them inside the boxes. Melt n Pour base is designed to do just that, MELT! LOL the only way to prevent this is to keep them in a cool enviornment. I added a little note to my packaging that stated they should be stored in a cool place.
These sold well last fall when I made them The family loved them as gifts! The only problem, is if they get hot after they've been completely dried and packaged. They tend to melt slightly and stick together
