  1. For the most part I've decided on lx24 for c3/status jar I burned one clean down to the metal tab which was great but I did notice it was really hot, big mushroom & some dancing on the flame towards the end. I tried the lx22 but the initial FMP was around 4-5hrs. (don't have notes in front of me)...probably a better wick size towards the end. I'm testing out some other wicks currently for this jar to see if there is anything better than using lx24. RRD 37 & 40 seems to be working out...I got them mixed up so retesting again, grrr.
  2. So are you mixing palm & C3? What is your reasoning for that? Just curious.
  3. You maybe onto something. My beginning test candles were tan/brown and scented with creme brulee. Mirrors your maple syrup one. I've been only making ones with FO and no dye and have already noticed less bubbles but wasn't sure since it was harder to tell with just white. C1 wax has not bubbled on me once but its throw is pretty much doesn't exist with the FO I'm using. Good idea on no dye & fo...will try that next, thanks!
  4. Good to know Henry...have you taken any pictures of it? Are you thinking where the middle is narrower it's causing the soot (wick being too large for that portion of the jar)? You were using lx24 correct? Bummed to hear about the results...this jar is sexy, hehe. I still love my status jar but just wish it came in something larger than 12oz.
  5. Donny let me have a few CDNs to test out...great guy!! Thanks everyone for your replies!
  6. I talked to Donny over at Just By Nature today and we had a detailed discussion about C3. Long story short he didn't think I was doing anything wrong from what I was telling him and that it was typical to experience bubbles. He thought maybe I had a bad batch of wax...who knows. I'm going to keep trying on the C3...just bought another 10 lb. bag but did get some 402 & 444 samples in today. Going to be testing rrd and cdn wicks in the C3 as well to see if that makes a different but Donny felt it was my wax (which I think he's right...I've tested 2 different series of wicks and both have done the same bubbling). I told him what size I was using and he felt it was fine. He was pushing his blend too just like Robert at Taylored...kind of funny...just not ready to throw in the towel just yet .
  7. I've tried contacting Cargill and spoke to a sales rep who said the stick'ems were causing the air bubbles and then later said she didn't know, would call someone else and get back with me (uh, real reassuring she knew what she was talking about). I also spoke to Robert at Taylorered Concepts since I purchased the wax from him and he said bubbles are common in the C3 & not much can be done. I asked him about beeswax and he said he would recommend adding paraffin before beeswax to help with smooth tops. He didn't have any helpful suggestions other than to pour at a lower temp between 140-160 since I was pouring at 180. I've done the lower temp pouring but will keep playing around with that to see if it'll help. Funny thing is he was pushing his 50/50% blend saying you can call it soy wax since it's 51% soy. Who knows I may go to that but not just yet . Candelcandlecompany would you be willing to share your pouring temp. at least?
  8. Awesome jar Henry!! Where did you pick those up at? I've been on the look out local for them because I don't want to pay shipping and status was actually my second choice. We seem to be drawn to the comtempory lines eh?! Is that jar lidless...I can't remember now? Keep me posted on the test...actually find it interesting u could still stay with the lx24 and not have to wick up. Also I'm looking for some lx wicks that are not dipped in parraffin (heat gun melts the wax right on off!)...do you know where I could get some dipped in something natural? TIA!
  9. Wow, sure would like to know...i've been putting my goofed up wicked C3s on the warmer so I can at least enjoy the fragrance. You think it's all warmers?? I never even read the directions to see that. Keep us posted.
  10. Thanks for the info on the cap/hazelnut...my hubby hates the smell of coffee so nice to know that. Are coffee type scents good sellers? I know I'm a fan of them but didn't know if they sold well.
  11. I was bummed about the warm apple pie...cold throw is fantastic and haven't burned it yet (letting it cure a week) but I noticed today one of the candles is seeping. I used 1oz. pp of C3 too. I just ordered a bunch of samplers from Peak...hope this doesn't happen with them. Thanks for the info on the Meg Fig...no clue what'll smell like, that'll be my suprise one!!
  12. What can i do to prevent this? I finally heard from them after the second email...they are sending 5 replacement wicks with my fo order...hope they work!
  13. I ordered 2 samplers from them...lx and rrd. I've only tested the lx and have had 3 out of 5 wicks come out from the metal tab. Is anyone else having issues with their wicks? I emailed them but haven't heard back in 3 days now, weird. Also, recommendations on where to buy lx wicks from other that Peaks...probably will not order them from again.
  14. Good info angela...haven't ordered enough FO to notice that but will be on the lookout to see how my fo is in a bottle.
