Well I went ahead and bought an 8# pail of Kokum from Oils By Nature today. We really need a butter co-op....there are several I am running low on!
-
Hmmm, no. I just suck it up as a loss, mainly because by that point I'm so irritated that I won't want to deal with making more stuff!
(loss of the "extra" preservative, that is)
I just quick whipped up another batch and combined them and whipped the snot out both of them together. It should be fine...but man I hate when I screw up!
-
I made the whipped body frosting today and at the end I added 1% preservative instead of .5%......dang!! Soooooooo has anyone ever done this and went ahead and made another batch and combined the 2 since you actually have preservative for 2 batches! I just hate when I have an idiot moment!

I'd consider doing a Biochemica co-op (kokum plus maybe 1 other item - keep it simple) starting some time in April if there was enough interest. But I don't have time to mess around with getting pricing right now so if someone wants to get the ball rolling I am happy to pick it up.
Who is Biochemica??
-
Thanks Chickie! I saw that there was a pretty big difference in price between the 2....I wonder how much difference in quality?? I can't remember where the Kokum butter I got in the co-op came from. It was back when Shutterbug did the co-op.

yea I have....I did a massage therapy convention last spring and had over $200 worth of stuff stolen out of a locked room. It was at the convention center and the front desk clerk was very rude about it and informed me she was well aware that someone stole my stuff. So I said well then I guess we will call the police since this is obviously an inside job. The police came out and did a report but of course nothing was done about it. I did keep calling the Convention Center manager and they did finally pay me for all the products that were stolen.

Last time I bought this it was off a co-op. Where is a good place to buy several pounds of this??
TIA!!

I've tried at least a dozen. My all time favorite is from Aquatech.
I'll second that!! Got to try some of this awesome shower gel in the Southern Soapers swap (altho not sure which aquatech product it is) and it FANTABULOUS!!! If you don't mind sharing which one you used I would love to know so I can order some up for me...I love it!

Lazy probably. BUT I think this time of year is NOT a good time for fundraisers. People are still recovering from Christmas and the last thing they want to see is their kids dragging home another fundraiser. JMHO tho! :smiley2:
ETA...Sorry about your fundraiser tho!

Afternoon soaper here! Takes me that long to get going...LOL Sometimes I soap early evening but most of my soaping happens in the afternoon.

I got the Lavender Martini as a sample in one of my orders from FOH and OOB it is really nice! I haven't tried it anything...as a matter of fact I went to sniff it again the other day and it apparantly grew legs and took a hike..I can't find it anywhere. But yes...OOB it was very nice!
-
I agree...I think because you ordered just one fragrance and it happens to be a dupe..... that sent a red flag up. They probably have had someone buy it thinking it was perfume and then bitched. So now they just set it to send a red flag to make sure the person is aware that it is a FO. They don't know you from adam and you have no past history in ordering so they are covering their butts.

I make a facial scrub similar to this and do not have cystic acne anymore
I only use jojoba oil, nothing fancy.
honey, glycerin, glycerin soapbase, w&b sugars ewax, stearic
preservative.
Yours looks nice I may try the addition of emu in mine
Thanks for posting
I bet the w&b sugars would add a nice exfoliatation to this...Hmmmmm The healing properties of honey are awesome! My little yellow lab puppy I got for Christmas nicked me on the wrist with one of his baby teeth.....it got infected and swelled up. I put straight honey on it one night before bed and the next morning it had sucked all the redness, swelling and infection out of it and cleared right up!

I ordered in some emu and when it arrives I will try this out on him. I thought about subbing something else but I really like the benefits of the emu and want to include it! Can't wait!

A few weeks back I had a Lemongrass and Sage that was instant soap on a stick! I threw the pan on the stove and cooked it on low heat into a transparent glob of mashed tater looking stuff. I didn't add sugar...what does that do for it??? But cooking it on the stove on low worked wonders for it.....it is some butt-ugly soap but at least it is soap. LOL

Hi Nancy!
I looked at that but I think at 50# it is too heavy to wrap tightly enough around my bar. Looked a brown butcher paper too but I think that is too heavy too.
Thanks for the link!

Hi Lindsay! I have found some online....FINALLY! Of course you have to buy about 500/1000 sheets but that is doable...LOL I was going to call our resturant supply place today and see if they carry it....but I got busy down in the soap room and forgot until I saw this post!
Here are a couple that I have found
MAC - Food Service Tissue and Waxed Florist Tissue
And this one I wish I could get a sample....I should call them...

You might want to check out www.essentialwholesale.com she carries alot of natural and organic.
ETA...I think they are in oregon

I got some of that but I am afraid it won't go over to well. I know my boys don't like it. lol
Edit to say.... very pretty soap and can't wait to see cut pics.
My boys say...that's grandpas soap! I make it for my dad and ya know what? It smells just like I remembering him smelling while growing up! LOL
-
I may have to whip up some of this for my son. Both my boys got teenage acne and my oldests was so bad we ended up having to put him on Accutane (horrors!) My youngest son has the same problem but with all his other health issues (heart and diabetes) there is no way he can do the accutane and besides OMG that is horrid stuff....works wonders but bad stuff! Going to try this on him and see if it helps! Gotta order some emu...I am all out! Thanks for sharing!

Dayum!! Those are some gorgeous soaps!!

I have googled until I am cross eyed! Does anyone know where to buy the sheets of brown kraft deli paper? I think it is lightly waxed on one side. I have found brown kraft butcher paper but I think that might be too heavy. I can find all kinds of white and printed but haven't found the brown kraft. I can find tissue paper but that isn't strong enough.

I use Celestial Colors, Select Shades and mica, oxides and clays.

I order mine from www.essentialsbycatalina.com and prefer thier quality over Cottonblossoms.
