  1. I made cream soap the other day using Katherine Failor's book. I cooked it in a crock pot instead of double boiler. After cooking until it was translucent (about 3.5 hours), I turned off the pot and let it sit for 24 hours. Now according to her book it should get liquidy and you will need to supercream it to thicken it back up (pull the stearic back out). Well mine did not get liquidy in 24 hours. BUT letting it sit and rot for about 5 days it has started to get softer and softer (nowhere near liquidy). How important is the supercreaming?? I hate to do the cold supercream method with boric acid to have it thicken back up into a hard glob when it has taken 5 days to loosen up a bit already?? Right now it is a really thick, creamy blob that I can finally stir a little.

  2. I love it!!! (now that I know what the hell I am doing!) I printed 350 2x3 labels tonight while I was running around doing other things in the workshop too. They are pricey and the custom labels are pricey too (well cheap by the label but you have to order so many rolls of each size in the custom to get the price down). Their standard stock doesn't offer the sizes I need. The labesl are very nice and professional looking. We need more people to buy the LX400 so we can pool together on the custom sizes. If you order like 10 rolls (same size label) of a custom size the price goes way way down!

  3. Actually I got an email from them awhile back (was on their list as I too used some of their FO's when I first started out) and they are back in business. But I can't remember what their new name was. They were getting back in the FO business from what I understood. I didn't really pay attention as I thought their FO's were pretty much crap with the exception of a few of them. They did a lot of their own blending too but that one isn't on the list of the one they did blend.

  4. :shocked2: I can't believe this.

    ::::sigh::::

I use the indulgence cream base and it works out so well.

    I don't make lotion......

Please, if anyone knows of a base with comparable feel, please let me know.

I settled on Soaper's workshop after a bad experience with TCLabs.

    Please, any suggestions are welcomed!!

She is trying to sell her formulas for some one else to take over and continue to make. Who is TCLabs??

  5. It may damage the good stuff in the aloe, I do not know, but better to heat and hold it to help prevent beasties I say (and I HAVE had some aloe juice in the fridge for awhile that did grow stuff so I know it can happen!!!) and of course add a preservative!

Yea Aloe is hard to preserve. I usually preserve my aloe juice when I make it...then preserve at the top end with a preservative in what I am using it in.

  6. I bought this printer several months ago and I am having one heck of a time getting my labels to print on THE LABELS!! I recently had all my labels custom made to use with this printer and they are in Adobe. When I go to print them on the labeler the label design prints between 2 labels and way off the label on the printers left. There is no way to adjust this in the printer adjustment for this huge of an error. I know that labels by the sheet prints all her labels out of Adobe as she is the one that recommended that program to me for changing scents on the set of labels she did for me. The book that came with the labeler....is of very little help! I plan on calling them tomorrow and see what they can offer for advise but thought there were a few on here that use this labeler and can maybe give me some insight! TIA!! (my hair thanks you also as I have very little left after working on this all day yesterday!)

  7. Heat and hold your aloe juice just like you do your water? I know you use the high end of the preservative if using Aloe in your formula...but searched and searched on heating and holding and can't find anything! TIA for any help!

ETA....What about using 100X Aloe powder to distilled water or heat and held water? Heat and Hold with the powder already mixed in or add it after the water has been heated and held. Geesh I feel like I am making this much more difficult then it should be...LOL

  8. Is there such a thing? How do you figure your lye water for cream soap without a calculator. I have made cream soap but the lye (both kinds) and water were already firgured for the recipe. So now i want to tweak the recipe and have no clue how to figure how much of the 2 kinds of lye and how much water I will need? Or am I just having a major brain fart here??

  9. She's always had a day job actually, Kymber, and I know she's worked the graveyard shift before, so I'm pretty sure that's not what's been eating her time. I hope you get things resolved though.

Really? She always indicated to me that making lotion and running her online store was her day job. I stand corrected. Oh and no return call from her either.

  10. I have a Tahoe...put the back seats down and pack her to the brim. Even the passanger seat in front along with the floor in front are loaded but it all fits including tables! IF hubby happens to be home we usually pack both my Tahoe and his Chevy truck....but only beause he is going with to help unload and set up.

  11. Well her husband answered the phone this afternoon when I called and said she was sleeping....as she works the graveyard shift somewhere. Told me to call back in 2 hours but of course when I did ...no one answered. I did leave a long and detailed message. I talked to her through emails after her family emergency and right before Christmas and she said she would try and get my order (which I had shipped her part of the ingredients to use to make my formulation) out before Christmas and I told her then....Oh after Christmas is fine...enjoy the holidays. After Christmas didn't mean July in my book. Obviously she is now working outside the home which she wasn't doing before. She owes me a very large order. She is home and working another job now......I don't think this is a family emergency issue anymore. She really needs to take care of her outstanding obligations.

  12. let us no if you soap the sandalwood amber what your thought on it is i am giveing up on finding a stronger plain sandalwood

Great in soap! Also have you tried Peaks Sandalwood...I use that for my plain sandalwood and it is great in cp soap...strong and sticks.

  13. wow...I just went to their site and their FO's sound great...very different...a little pricey but nice. I didnt see anywhere that they had a sample pack to buy...does anyone know if they offer this?

Worth every Penny! I love love love this supplier!

  14. Well I'm not ordering till February as I tend to buy from her weekly (must stop that) ... egads ... but I don't think I get the all-too-popular stuff lol ... so I wanted to start making a list.

Yep, I'm in the swap and will wait ... till then I don't want to overlook anything ... and Kymber the sandalwood amber better be TDF lol as I went ahead and did a pound anyway on my last order.

LOL! Well if you don't agree with me you know you can always send it my way! It does discolor in soap and my next batch I am going to remember to add the BCN Vanilla Stabalizer to it and see how it does.....I can still see my amber swirl in my bars...but barely! Scent holds very well in the CP process. To me it is a very sensual scent...earthy and sexy!

  15. Sandalwood Amber is TDF and soaps like a dream! I also am in love with the Sweet Pea and Rhubarb (ordered a 16oz bottle yesterday)....it also soaps like a dream! I have several here that I need to soap but haven't yet. If possible I would hold off ordering until you get your box of goodies from the swap and sniff a few of them! I just got Carrie's box today and the lemongrass & sage is awesome (yes I sniffed...LOL)

  16. I bought mine already printed from them - I didn't print on them myself at all so they may not being using fade resistant inks but then I guess that doesn't explain why the white goes so yellow.

I have labels here on the roll that the printed off for me - and ALL have gone yellow. I have no idea what they printed the labels with - if it was the primera or not.

She does all her custom labels on the roll on Primeras. So yea same label stock that I have and Janis has.

  17. I am so glad to see this as I thought I was loosing my mind, but mine are doing this also and I use their glossy labels for the primera printer so switching isn't an option. It must just be the "glossy" material that makes them yellow but it looks horrible.

    Janis

If anyone uses the primera labels I would be interested in knowing if yours yellows as well.

I do a full bleed print (no white left) and haven't noticed much change in them....but the label rolls will turn yellow on the ones exposed to air if left sitting out. Thought it was my basement causing this (even though my basement is a walk out with no part of it in the ground) I keep my label rolls in zip lock bags and that takes care of the yellowing. Do you have the 810 Primera Printer?

  18. I emailed yesterday - will wait to hear from them. I only just found out my labels were yellowing. I used up all my shelf stock and was creating more - and the new labels that had been in a bag in a filing cabinet are bright white wheras the ones on the bottles look dingy and awful now.

Having the same problem here with the glossy white full sheet label stock. Mine came from Online Labels but it seems if you expose them to air they yellow. If I keep them in the plastic container thing they are shipped in they stay nice and white. Even my Primera labels will yellow to a small degree if left sitting out...exposed to air. :angry2:
