  1. hmmm...strange. I'm using her oils since many years now and never had a problem with not throwing. With melts it is even easier and most of my customers tell me that they are almost too strong so I use even less than the recommendation. Maybe it is really the wax?
  2. Yes, maybe she had a bad day. I was just quite astonished to see somebody complain about a gift that way. It is just rude. If she doesn't like it, hey, that's okay. She could just throw it away or give it to someone else, but taking the time to write what an awful scent that is is ridiculous. Well, she won't get a sample anymore, I guess. The point is she didn't just 'let me know' she didn#t like it, she really complained about it. and that is not right. And really a lot different that what I had expected. Maybe that#s the problem. But, probably it isn't worth the time writing here about this. Should really just see it like Vernie said and think she had a bad day.
  3. Hi there, it is my habit (and probably yours as well) to put in some samples of fragrance oils in my customers parcels. Normally people are happy to find those little gifts in their parcels. Not so one of them: she sent me an email telling me that she didn't like the smell of the oil I sent her (it was a small order so I put in one fragrance oil as a sample). I told her that it was just a small gesture of my appreciation for her order and that maybe she should try it in some wax first before judging it out of bottle. She insisted that she didn't like it etc. and I was really astonished to see somebody reacting that way to a present. Are people that way nowadays? Of course, not. Most of my customers are a pleasure to work with, but some of them.... Wish you a lovely weekend and many, many sales!
  4. I guess it is not worth arguing or worrying about this kind of stuff. I've learned the hard way that you only harm yourself and I've decided not to let my customers steal my peace of mind anymore even if I am tempted to explode sometimes.... I know it is not right but on the other hand: what will be the outcome if you say something? Of course I totally understand how you feel but again: is it worth the trouble? Not the same situation but as an example: I have a lot of new customers who have ordered fragrance oils for me and immediately write me an email demanding delivery as fast as possible because they have orders to fill with these oils. They have never ordered from me before so they don't know the oils they have ordered and have already orders for them??? So I guess if the candle doesn't burn properly it isn't because of their candle making skills but because of my oils that don't work.... I have asked one of those customers once to explain this to me....never do it again. Cannot change it anyway. Hugs, ubure
  5. Don't know JS' but I have Southwest Candle Supply's for many, many years now and people really like it (me, too.). Smoky, nutty, caramel-y and sweet.
  6. Meanwhile I got an answer from them, ordered and received my stuff. I've been using their oils for many years now (when they still were Just Nature) and they are really good (and my standards qre quite high!). Shipping is not cheap but so is shipping from many other companies. USPS isn't used by a lot of companies, at least not by those I am using. I will stay a customer of SWCS.
  7. BW Pumpkin Cornbread is a scent I really love, not spicy but buttery, corn-y with a straight pumpkin note.
  8. You are right. For me both is important.
  9. Thanks, TallTayl! I have discovered Chicago but as you've saird they have a minimum as well. Guess I will buy some kraft paper bags with window and put some nice ribbon or something on it, will look pretty as well.
  10. OldGlory, don't want to critizise in any way (I appreciate you a lot!), but just because nobody is asking doesn't make the problem disappear. For example, I know a lot of people who have young children or babies and who just don't care about all the pesticides and herbicides they are using generously in their gardens (not only this: tons of harsh household cleaners, disinfectants, mainly processed and convenient food etc. etc. etc.). Many of those children have allergies and other health issues. The parents don't even consider this toxic stuff could be bad for their kids or even be the cause of their kids' health problems (not that it is their fault alone, we are exposed to so many toxines every day it is no wonder so many of us are ill. It all adds up, literally). As long as there are no weeds in their gardens and as they don't have to think too much or even question anything their world is perfect. What I want to say: the majority just doesn't care. I have decided I don't want that stuff, why take a risk ? I guess there are still enough other components in our fos that they will find out to be harmful so if I can do something in order to reduce the risk I will at least buy the least harmful oils. And try living a life with my family that is as responsible, healthy, sustainable and happy as possible (which is difficult enough, right ).
  11. That's not unusual with the bigger companies. If they are a manufacturer their fragrance libraries ARE huge. When I order from one of those companies I first let them know what fragrances I have in mind (with a detailed description what the fragrance should smell like), then they will produce some samples for me to test and a price offer and after I may order or not.
  12. Hi there, I am looking for a supplier for these paper tubes (for wax tarts): http://www.globeguardproducts.com/Recyclable_biodegrable_paper_tube_packaging_p/340304k.htm They need a minimum of 4 cases so this i too much for me. Any ideas? Thank you! ubure
  13. You have to decide if it is important to yourself. For me it is. Fragrance oils are chemicals anyway but at least I want to make sure that they are as safe as possible (if that can be the case at all). There is clear evidence that those phtalates and nitro-musks are harming not only us but wildlife as well (like those fishes who cannot reproduce anymore due to all the nice things we flush down the drain with our excretions. It is like with everything else: do I care if I add to the problem or don't I care because everybody else is doing it and because I cannot change it anyway or because my little bit won't hurt..... I think the chemicals we are using are bad enough. I'm struggling myself with it all and still don't know if I should quit or not but until I have made a decision I want to make the least damage.
  14. Hi there, I just wanted to ask if anybody has ordered from them lately as I've sent them several messages but never got an answer (through email and their contact form). I always like their oils a lot but no reaction at all from them makes me a bit angry, I must say.
  15. Yes, I'm well aware of those companies...I only cannot afford 25 lbs of one single fragrance, that's the problem. I asked out of curiosity and of course won't buy a spectrum analyzer (even though I have googled them, You CAN of course buy such machines and I guess they would pay off after a few fragrances). Have a nice week all of you! ubure
  16. Oh, so all I need is a spectral anylyzing thingy and off I go! Thanks for the info! This what I was imgaining in a way but it is interesting to know how they do it. Thanks and have a nice weekend!
  17. Hi there, I'm asking myself how several of those smaller companies can do dupes of FOs (or aren't they small at all?)? Does anybody know what the process of duplication a fragrance is like? I just cannot imagine how they do it...or do they have computers that analyze the scents? Have a nice day, ubure
  18. That is exactly what I feel about it, and not only this email (I hate it when customers write a message, not even write "hi" and their message is written in a harsh tone...probably this is normal nowadays but I don't like it). Meanwhile he has answered back and told me that there is an agreement between them and the companies they supply that they don't tell where they have their fragrances from. Minimum order per fragrance is 16 kg....too much for me anyway.
  19. Hi there, as I couldn't access the website of Belle-Aire and couldn't find an email addy as well I simply tried an email address I imagined could work. It did. Today I received an answer to my question about their policies regarding samples and the minimum order amount for their oils. I told them that I buy from several companies that carry some of their scents and therefore would like to buy in bulk as well. Their answer was: "What companies here in the U.S. are you buying from that you know that the fragrances are Belle-Aire's?Charlie David"No salutation, nothing friendly in this. I wrote back and asked if I have annoyed him in any way and that of course none of the companies says they are buying their oils from this and that company and that I only discovered by chance that one of my supplier bought oils is identical with a sample from Belle Aire which I received many, many years ago. Strange, strange. Don't know if I should buy from them at all.
  20. I have so many oils there in my workshop that I need to re-organize them as well. I always had them by supplier but as I often just cannot remember which scent was by which supplier and I waste too much time looking for that special oil I will organze them by type/name, so all fruit fragrances here, all ocean/beach ones there, all bakery stuff there etc.
  21. Yes, but it seems my IP adress is rejected, don't know why...
  22. Hi, I cannot access their website - my fault or is their website down etc.? Thanks!
  23. Chris is right, it's the beeswax. I do find adding beeswax to other waxes is a good thing. A tiny bit helps with frosting and scent throw in soy and I have also done container candles with beeswax being the major wax with a portion of palm wax and olive oil. It was a nice wax though it didn't adhere to the glass at all. Keep on trying!
  24. Scented, this is probably a stupid question but just to get it right: you fill your mold with wax, wait until those 1/4 to 1/2 inches have hardened....and then how do you cut out the wax? Could you just pour the wax out? Does this thin layer of wax release easily from the mold? Or am I totally getting it wrong? Thanks!
