  1. How awesome! What a lovely account to land! Super excited for you.
  2. That's strong for me too Chris. I can smell some of the stuff I make but faintly. Other makers I can smell clearly. As stated earlier, I've done everything I can think of to make the throw go and it's never as strong as I would like. I don't know what else to do. I noticed today my tarts are letting off steam, which means they are getting to hot or the FO is burning off. But if I cut the FO down its not going to throw. What am I missing? I'm using 4630 and KY tart was blended.
  3. They are really gorgeous. It's wonderful you have found a way to blend passions!
  4. Chris what do you consider strong? I've noticed it's different for everyone.
  5. topofmurrayhill I generally only make wax melts and my blend is currently 70% paraffin.
  6. I see toilet paper candles all over the place. All I can think about is the center melting down and then melting through the wax and setting the paper on fire.
  7. I've tested dozens of blends of wax in the last year. Paraffin, soy, and blends of both. I've tried hundreds of oils from a dozen suppliers. I've poured hot, medium, cool. I've tried Vybar and I've tried UA. I've poured with 1 -1.5 oz per pound wax. And while I get okay to good results, I cannot get amazing results. Therefore I think the final thing is fragrance load. It has to be 1.75- 2 oz per pound of wax. Unless there is some special technique I am missing I don't know what else it could be. Some waxes that are super strong: Beezy Lake Providence Lodge Super Tarts Some people argue Rose Girls and Vintage Chic Scents are also strong but they are are only medium to me.
  8. Thanks everyone. I am having luck with some of them in small spaces but they don't really travel. Some waxes I buy from vendors fill my whole house. These scents are better but I'm still not getting the ultra strong throw I desire. I honestly believe the super strong throw comes from using 2 oz of FO in wax. 1-1.5 doesn't cut it. I've tried dozens of wax blends and hundreds of oils. Poured at different temps ranging from 150-185 degrees. I get okay throw. Nice in small spaces. I need something that will travel.
  9. I just bought a dozen fragrances from Candle Cocoon. Boy am I impressed!! OOB they are very strong and complex. I'm sure they will smell great in wax. I am curious though, that they recommend such low rates of use. All of them recommend less than 4%. Am I really going to get a strong throw with that little bit? I normally use 8-10% in my paraffin soy blend.

    Pouring Temp

Belinda do you think it matters what temperature you pour from your pot into your mold actually matters? 120, 140, 150, how does the wax know when it's being poured? I kind of thought the temp of the wax and the temp when FO is added would be the biggest factors. What do you think?

I'm current using a blend of 75% Rustic Escentuals Parasoy blend for tarts and pillars and 25% IGI 4630. Before you freak out about using a preblended wax in my mix, consider that most IGI are also preblended. Anyway, I have noticed the Rustic blend is popular among wax makers but it light to me. The 4630 helps but it's still not as strong as I would like. I'm wondering if pour temperature makes a difference. I normally hear my wax to around 175, let it cool to 150, add FO at 10% and stir for a couple minutes and pour into molds around 120. Is there anything else I can do to get a stronger throw?
  12. Thank you for the tips. I've tried KY wax at 10% FO load and it's still meh. Honestly I don't like the wax even from other vendors. I just can't smell it at all. What temp do you recommend to add FO? I've been doing it around 150-165. I haven't tried 464 yet but maybe I will next. I don't know why my results are not as good as other vendors. I've been pouring for a while now and it's mostly miss for me. Not okay.
  13. karinz40 What is good results? how long do your melts last? how many cubes do you need for a good throw, good throw being filling 2 or more rooms.
  14. Thank you JCandleattic. :-) Do you know of any suppliers who carry sample sizes of this wax? I would like to try some. also is the appearanc creamy, plasticy, or translucent? Pic?
