  1. What is the additive? I have TONS of acrylic paints. My intention was for the detail on the soap to pop out and make the 'other' color but it just did not work out that way. Thanks for the tip!
  2. Thanks. My hubby suggested that also. I don't know if I have a steady enough hand to paint them afterwards.
  3. Here are some things I have done lately. Have them in a booth at an antique mall now but we are getting ready to open our own shop and I have been working on stuff pretty much non-stop. Here are some of the fun things I did. Used a container from the Pillsbury cinnamon rolls to make these. Perfect size. I made fudge brownie scents wax and poured it onto waxed paper. Let it cook just a bit then balled them up into 'chocolate chunks' put them in the mold and did an overpour of vanilla. Soap is WSP Silk & Shea butter. This one is the clear base with a white shea soap edge. I used opal cosmetic glitter in the bottom after I did the edge and then added some to the clear base. Incase you can't read them. The pink is red current and the purple is midsummer(s) night. This is the $1 mold WSP has right now in the surplus. Kind of late for summer but I thought they might make cute stocking stuffers. The molds are from Dollar Tree. They hold 1oz of soap. Blue/Green is Cucumber Melon...my son picked that one out. The pink/orange is what we call Frootie Patootie, actualy Fruit Slices. These little buggers were very hard to get out of the mold. I had to freeze them for quite a while before they would come out. Last one! Both Black Canyon. I was not very happy with the results here. My intention was to make them blue & white for Penn State and Black & Gold for Steelers BUT...the mold is not very easy to work with. They are huge 5oz bars...but the mold is so angled that I could not fill in the side lines (no pun here) on the mold without it running out. So they ended up all blue...and I gave up and made the black and gold...just yellow. Anyone got any tips for that? Ok...now back to soap or bath bombs...seems to be the product of choice lately. Thanks for looking!
  4. What can I add to Kaolin Clay for a good mask to pack in one use packs that water will be added to after purchase? I want some good ingredients that could be for any skin type. I have not make a mask before on my own except the stinky one a supplier had on their site. :lipsrseal I have a bunch of this and want to use it up. My intention to was to add it to soap base for shave soap. But for some reason where I live now the shave soap does not go over well.
  5. Sweet almond oil...and I have also used sunflower oil. Also perfume has a heavier concentration of FO or EO than what a base for spray would handle. I have used 70%/30%(FO)...with no reaction. Also on the MMS website (www.thesage.com)...there is a chart with concentration recommendations for each type of item. Parume, toilette, cologne etc.
  6. In the long run it is better to buy the KA. It will save you money overall. I had a Sunbeam as well and it burned up in 4 years of fairly heavy use. The KA does have a lifetime guarantee and you can get all kinds of attachments for it. Got mine at Walymart for $189 around Christmas time about 3 years ago. Best money I ever spent.
  7. Hey you know those white plastic round container things you get in Pillsbury cinnamon rolls for icing (the giant ones not the regular size)? They make a PERFECT size soap mold for MP soap. They pop out real easy also since they are somewhat flexible. If you fill them 3/4 full they make around a 3oz bar. Great for embedding stuff also. ...and they are free. That is if you eat those frequently like we do. I saved the small ones as well ...not real sure what I can do with those yet. Maybe bath bombs. Wish I would have thought of that sooner I would have dozens of them.
  8. Anyone know why it is not on the website? I emailed them and did not get a response. Also does anyone know if KY Candle Supply wax is the same wax? Meaning the 'Perfect Blend' Wax. Which is also showing out of stock. I have not made candles in a while just doing B&B stuff mostly and now I need wax and can't seem to get it.
  9. Does anyone have a good recipe for a 'Light' Facial Lotion? For oily/skin prone to breakouts.
  10. Ok...so the essential wholesale thing got me thinking so immediatly went to get my body butter...some sugar, pre made salt glow and some coffee. First I mixed a tbsp of the premade salt glow and some sugar into the body butter. Felt pretty good. The salt glow was made with sunflower oil...which is also in WSP's body butter base. Next I tried some coffee and sugar with the body butter. OMG! AWSOME...loved it!!!! My hands feel great...great texture..scent etc etc. Not the left over greasy feel the one with the extra sunflower oil had in it. Not that is was a heavy greasy just more greasy than the coffee/sugar/body butter one. Now I wonder how much extra peservative I would need to add to make this work?
  11. I did a 50% oil/50% FO and tested it. Worked great!....and to my surprise on my sensitive skin it did not bother me. Tried it with Sunflower and soy oil...not toghter but two separate ones. I liked the sunflower better but that is just me...that is my oil of choice.
  12. Thanks for the heads up...I have one going to have to check the modle number. I have only used it twice...and luckily nothing happened.
  13. Ditto. Hot Dawn dish soap water. Usually until it is almost cold...then I rinse and let dry. I always keep them...some are even good for samples of bath oil and such. Also I had ones with droppers ...Thank God! because the cheap plastic bottle of candle dye broke and I had one of those to put it in rather than having to pitch it and buy new. I agree Re-use, re-recycle. (Freecycle is also a great place to get rid of stuff you don't need.)
  14. oooo...good idea... now just to make it more moisturizing. :undecided now I need to order stuff.
  15. It needs something...that is for sure. My lips felt dry ...polished but very dry afterwards. NOT what I was after. Maybe I should make it more of a cream instead of an oily one. Beeswax maybe...some glycerin...or shea butter. Going to start over.
  16. Thanks all. I did try something last night. The whole point of the sweetener is for a lip scrub ...I did not want it to be soapy or lotion like as it is on the lips and you will end up tasting it. I mixed white sugar with soybean oil and the coffee flavorings you get at grocery store since all the ingredients were things you would find in bath & body and were natural(trying to keep it more natural). It did scrub my lips BUT left what felt like nothing good behind other than the exfoliation. Which in turn is kind of drying. I need to add something good for more moisture. Maybe I should have used Sunflower oil instead? More vitamin E and such. Any opinions?
  17. A couple of years ago I got a sample from some big company...can't remember their name off the top of my head. But it was just a little 1oz jar of it and it was more lotion like. It did not soap up and left behind a lotion feel. I did not use it much because I just use my sugar scrub on my hands. It was not oily either. Just some FYI for you.
  18. Wouldn't lemon juice lighten your hair in the sun though? or would it be such a small amount that it would not make a difference. Salt shampoo sounds interesting. I have yet to try a Lush product.
  19. I also use alcohol in a spray bottle to spray pretty much everything before I use it.
  20. I think a thicker more lotion type sugar scrub would do the trick. Body Butter & sugar scrub maybe. I don't have a recipe but for myself (not the sugar scrub I make for customers) I mix lotion or body butter with sugar until it is a good thick consistancy. That way you are keeping some good moisturizing behind after the sugar rinse off. or an oil based one would do the trick ...olive oil maybe since it is a bit heavier. Darn...now you got my mind working and I want to go home and play with some scrubs and try them out. Still have 4 more hours at work though.
  21. I am guessing it is stevia...from WSP...maybe they just call it super sweet? It is in a powder form but they are out of stock.
  22. Has anyone tried the ones from WSP?
