  1. I wait till the next day. One, because its soap and not a big greasy mess. Two, I really dont like the thought of having raw soap going down my pipes.
  2. How many of you do this? I am just wondering if it is a common practice. I have seperate sets for everything, but I am in a debate with someone over using the same mixer they use to mix their soap to prepare food too. I told them to invest in a seperate mixer for their food. They think I am crazy:rolleyes2
  3. Those bars look wonderful even if you think they are too thin. I believe the formula is L x W x H x .4 to calculate how much oils will fill your mold to a certain level. Let's say you have a mold that is 12 inches wide, 10.5 inches long, and 5" deep. If you want your soap to be 1" thick, instead of multiplying 10.5 x 12 x 5 x .4 do 10.5 x 12 x 1 x .4 instead. It will give you the fluid ounces you need to make 1" thick soap in the mold. Just vary the depth number by what you want.
  4. ***looking at clock....it must be time to cut them already....growing impatient over here to see what those look like cut up, hehehe. You're obsessed? I am the obsessed one here! That's it, I'm making my first batch tomorrow!
  5. Thanks for the info Karen. I was up till 2 last night reading up on how to make them. Seems simple enough. I am going to make my first batch unscented so I don't have any problems.
  6. I have no net access till Wednesday except for on my sk2 so I am making soap galore. Built myself some more molds, including a slabber, and I am ready to make some salt bars. How much salt ppo and when to add. Patiently waiting, hahaha. Grumpy, I will get you Chris Noth's # if you share your recipe;)
  7. Ok, 100% coconul oil.....when to add the salt please? Actually detailed instructions would be nice, lol. I would love to make a batch. TIA!
  8. SC- Brown Sugar and Fig, riced up the instant I poured it in. Ended up having to cook it, and I can't even smell it, neither in the bottle or the soap. SOS-Calandre, riced up and it made my soap look so yucky. Think liposuction in a bbowl, or fat mixed with blood. That is exaxtly what my soap looked like. I was too pissed to even try and save it, threw it away. Wanted to edit this and say that I ralize now that I have to use the manufacturer's fragrance from SOS if I am going to CP soap with it. I looked at my bottle and saw that I had the cosmetic blend, which is probably why I ended up with liposuction guts.
  9. I cant stand those slimeballs over there giving us honest Nigerians a bad rep:sad2: Only a small handfull yet they shed a crappy light on the millions that are hardworking and honest.
  10. The only thing that strikes me odd is why he would contact someone out of state when there has to be companies in his area that would provide the same service. I would suggest having him make a bank to bank transfer for the deposit. I have had someone actually deposit a fake money order, and another one deposited a fake cashier's check right into my bank account before. Dumb bank actually "cashed" them too, and here I am thinking they cashed and then 12 days later put my account on hold for fraud and told me they were fakes. Luckily I have banked with them for years so they figured out that I was not trying to scam them.
  11. Is the sale still on? I want to order so many!
  12. I make body products and I am also a trading consultant for a few local high end boutiques, just because I love fashion and love to be in the middle of it. And it gives me time to get away from the house, otherwise I would not know what daylight looks like. One day hopefully the body products will be my main thing and I will own a boutique of my own. I started out wanting to be a doctor, got the biology and chemistry degrees and then had one kid, then another 2 years later. So had to find something to do from home so I could be with my kids. It started out as a candle business, then it turned into people requesting solid perfumes, rare fragrances, etc. And now I carry anything from whipped shea to dry perfume oil, and now soap. Its a rewarding feeling to be my own boss. I would love to have one of those buildings where we lived upstairs and our store was downstairs. There are some really nice properties here in Laudy that are like that. Maybe by next year I can buy one of them.
  13. I bought my scale from this person: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9527470541&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1 cost me less than $11 plus it goes up to 76#, and measures in ounces and grams.
  14. You plug it just like plugging the pringles. A piece of plastic wrap with a tight rubber band should do it.
  15. Or you could just go to Home Depot, ask them for the 2.5" or 3" PVC tubes used for pipes, and you get 12 feet of it for less than $10. Have then slice it into 1 foot sections for you, and you have 12 two pound round molds that will last for eternity. Then you can make all the round soap you want without having to worry about alien brain:DALl for less that the costs of 5 cans of Pringles that you have to actually eat to empty, not good for the hips, lol.
  16. Can you vouch fo rme too, I believe I signed up as thecandlespastore and I have been waiting for over a month to get in:(
  17. Yes, I called myself multi-tasking, when in fact I was really focussing on one thing and ignoring the other (keeping son out of kitchen vrs soap in microwave.)
  18. All our brains can be found on the beach somewhere far away sipping long island iced teas and laughing at us. Mine dissapeared to today, I was making microwave hot process and forgot to watch it, and ended up with a soap volcano all over the microwave and floor. I cant wait to see pics, I am sure they will be interesting.
  19. I was thinking of those exact photos:rolleyes2 Sure scared me out of ever using a pringles can.
  20. Soaping Brown Sugar and Fig was a nightmare! It definitely riced the minute I pour it in. I even added it to some base oils before I poured it in, and I poured it little by little. So I had to cook it and glop it into my molds.
