  1. I remelted the same candle and repoured it in the older can that has no release problem. This time, no cracking. But, I didn't have to use the ice either. I guess I have my answer.
  2. I am having a problem with the end of the candle cracking. I am using a new aluminum can mold that doesn't want to release. I placed an ice cube on top of the can and it released, but cracked. My other can mold has no problem. This is made from a recycled large triple wick pillar stub. Maybe the shell wax is too hard.
  3. I like to use a hammer and a wide wood chisel.
  4. I am just now getting into adding fragrance oils after all these years. I know nothing about curing times. I'm using IGI 1343 and Peaks FO at about 1oz per lb.
  5. It worked. The wax went through the fabric like water. The fabric didn't melt or clog. I wonder if I can reuse this thing or do I need to replace the fabric every time? The forum has come through again. Many thanks.
  6. My wife came up with an odd knee high sock that I cut up and will try to see if it will work for this purpose.
  7. Don't happen to have any of those. Maybe my wife has a spare.
  8. I am getting down to the end of a case of wax. Now I'm getting a lot of trash in the wax that is showing up in the candles. My method of letting the trash settle to the bottom and pouring off the clean wax is no longer working. I need a way of cleaning/filtering the wax, but I don't think a strainer would work. The wax would harden up as it hit the screen, or am I off base?
  9. Are there any other pillar waxes that don't mottle?
  10. All I want to do is kill the motteling, nothing else. Thanks.
  11. I just looked at Peaks site. I saw 1343A, but not 1343N. Is the N still available, or am I out of luck?
  12. I use neither. I cast the pillar without a pin or wick and drill the finished candle. I have just started back into making pillars when a doctor gave me the remains of a huge scented pillar he burned as far down as he could. I recast it into 3 smaller pillars.
  13. Sometimes refrigerating it will cause it to shrink enough to come out. The candle might crack though.
  14. Candle looks good. Photography needs a little work.
  15. I have no idea how many people already know about this, but I just found it, so I thought i'd post it. It is waterslide decal paper that allows you to use a printer to make a decal of anything your printer can print. They have paper for laser and inkjet printers. http://www.decalpaper.com/candle.html#ink
  16. What would happen with something like Dial if you reheated it in the microwave?
  17. That is one wild video. Whipped Ivory soap.
  18. Is it possible to recycle commercial soap? Will they melt and be able to be repoured similarly to making a candle from leftover wax?
  19. It's getting close to time to prepare for this years hurricane season. I have to set up a run of candles for hurricane use. This is not to be confused with what most of you call hurricane candles.
  20. Looks like a block of fudge. NOW, how does it burn???????????????????
  21. Just playing. I have a full stock of candles for hurricane use.
  22. That is a full melt pool. What you are looking at is the bottom of a soda can. The wick clip is from an old votive candle from Eckerds.
  23. Looks like I have perfected this type of double wick candle.
  24. I like the multi wickers too. 3 wicks are a little easier to manage.
