  1. I haven't run into this so far. What FO's are you trying that need this long to cure? Right now I'm burning an MC Caramel Apple and it had only cured 72 hours but it's giving off a great hot throw.
  2. Agreed. If they can send it by freight even better. I ordered 24 cases of glass (over 300 lbs) from out of state on Monday, they sent it by LTL and it was less than $75 for shipping and the truck was here a day later. I shudder to think of what it would have cost if they'd sent it UPS Ground.
  3. Very nice. Sets up TONS better than 415 in terms of wet spots and frosting (still frosts on purple and a little on red, but that could be the red dye I use). Throw is comparable to 415, although I find the cold throw to be just slightly diminished to the 415. The only problem I've had with it at all is that many times I will get a sinkhole near the wick at the top. A few seconds with the heat gun fixes that and it re-sets up very nicely. I never used the old blend so I can't compare it to that.
  4. Tess, if you switch hosts you should be able to keep your domain name. Anybody know what the monthly data transfer limit and up time is for that host? I could not find it. Thanks!
  5. "FEMA Trailer Jewelry"? Man that is a GREAT hook! Have you done truck stops? No joke, truckers live in a can just like you do. Head up to Hammond and see what you can do. Also, have you thought about any consigment or wholesale accounts with the Tiger Truck Stops (assuming they're still there)? They're used to be three of them, one up on I-20 but another over on I-10 just west of red stick. I'd give it a shot. Good luck to you.
  6. I've never bought wax from Aztec but I have bought containers from them. Good, fast service, and the jars were just what I needed.
  7. It's not an exact match, but fetpak has clear cello bags in 3 1/2" x 2 1/4" x 7 3/4" 4" x 2 3/4" x 9" 5 1/2" x 3" x 13 1/2" 5 1/2" x 3 1/4" x 12" 6" x 3 3/4" x 14 3/4" They are on the east coast and ship free.
  8. How fast are you cooling them, jhepp? How's your workroom as far as temp, humidity, and air flow? For a while I was solving the sinkhole problem by keeping my workroom temp above 77*F, but then that didn't work any more, so I'm wondering if it's a humidity thing as well (as the humidity here is much higher during the summer). The later at night I pour them, the less likely they are to have a sinkhole, as well. (I don't know how much help that is, though. ) One other thing I noticed is that giving them a few stirs after the pour when they are <100 seems to have an effect. I noticed this after experimenting with some marbling (art for art's sake ). That's probably more trouble than heat gunning, though, really.
  9. Yep. 24 hours before shipping or 72 hours local minimum.
  10. I don't heat the jars. I don't know about 150 minimum, but I've had a decent amount of success with pouring around 145-150 degrees. Admittedly, I do get a small sinkhole near the wick often but a few seconds with the heat gun cures it and leaves a smooth top as well. But it still beats the pants off 415 as far as frosting and wet spots.
  11. Jhepp, you are pouring waaaayyy too cool for this wax. Geek has it right with ~150. I really like the new 444. I have found that it's easy to work with and produces a great candle with few wet spots and frosting issues. You just have to remember to pour much hotter than with the 415.
  12. I have been using GB444 with CS liquid dye and I have very minimal frosting issues (knock on wood). The ambient temperature and humidity of the curing room seems to have a lot to do with how much frosting (and wet spots) I have in the first 2 weeks of candle life, though.
  13. I pour into metal tins. It's pretty standard to put them on a heat-resistant surface (or to suggest to customers that they do so). You might have to wick down from a glass of the same size, too.
  14. I heard something about that. PM'ed Jason about a week ago but never heard back. So....what do you know about the two versions?
  15. One of the selling points of 444 is the smooth tops. I've had plenty of rough tops with pure soy though (and wet spots, frosting, you name it). It's one of the reasons I tried the 444 in the first place.
  16. Pumpkin Pie - great thrower and sweet but not cavity inducing. Wood and Spice - I think this smells like Polo cologne. Throws well, though. I left a candle burning (with my husband home) to go shopping and when I came home it knocked me back out the door.
  17. I have never found this to be the case when working with 444.
  18. I like the 444. Hot and cold scent throw are comparable to the 415, without the rough tops and wet spots (some wet spots, not as many as with the 415, though). Very few frosting problems, as well compared to the 415. My only beef with the 444 is that I get a sinkhole more often than not, just below the surface right next to the wick. A few seconds with the heat gun cures that, though.
  19. Mine's an on/off as well - but a HUGE step up from a hair dryer!
  20. Cindy, Candlescience is in Durham NC.
  21. You may not have sales on your site for a while, depending on where you are in the search engines (or if people even know you have one). How are you ranking for your keywords? How are you advertising your site? As far as what sort of stock to carry; what is your market? Unless you know who you're marketing to, you won't know how to stock what they want.
