  1. I know that I need to pour slowly to avoid air bubbles, but it seems like I can't pour slow enough because I have lots! of tiny air bubbles. How slow do I need to pour? Or is there something else that could be causing the air bubbles? Thanks for your help.
  2. Thanks! That was just the stuff I need to know.
  3. How many scents did you have when you first started selling candles? A lot or did you simply start with a few and just keep adding as you went along? Just interested in seeing how other people started. Thanks
  4. I just got an HP 6540 a few days ago from a friend. It has a small broken part that I fixed with a piece of tape. I can print photo quality with this thing and it was free. The ink is reasonably priced compared to some printers and my old one was so ancient that one ink cartridge cost more than the printer itself was worth. You may not need a laser printer just a good quality ink jet. Good Luck!
  5. thanks, one more question. Do you poke the holes before during or after using the heat gun?
  6. Okay, I know this is going to sound stupid, but I just bought a heat gun and know that I should poke relief holes then use the heat gun to smooth out the tops and fill in any air bubbles/pockets. The question is do I poke the relief holes to the bottom of the jar, or just a little way down? And do I need to make the holes a bit bigger than whatever I'm making them with? And do you have any suggestions for how to use my new heat gun? TIA Jenn
  7. Which of these wicks do you prefer for 100% soy? I normally add 1 oz fo per pound and 1/2 oz bw per pound with liquid dye. As soon as i get in frostop I will be adding that too to help with frosting. So far I like all the eco's best but I would have a limited range in sizing up because I'm already using eco 10' s in most of my fo. The performa's I can use an 85 or 90 and still have a larege range for wicking up. The HTP's are the same problem as the ECOs, I have to use a 105 for most fo and I dont' want to use a wick as big as the 1212 or 1312 so that only leaves 1 other size--the HTP 126. I'm using 1/2 pint and pint mason jars regular size mouth so there really isn't enough room for double wicking. I would really appreciate your thoughts! TIA
  8. Okay, I wicked a pint mason jar with a HTP 105, 100% soy from MC, 1 oz lilac fo from Lonestar, 2 drops liquid purple dye from Lonestar. The scent throw is great. The thing that confuses me is this...I had thought that i needed to wick up because I had 1/8-1/4" hangup around the outside of the jar; but today my tester called me and told me that all the hangup had melted and 'caught up' what gives? why did the wax catch up after the candle had burned half way down when before it wasn't working too great before? is it okay to sell a candle that takes a while to catch up like that or should I still wick up? oh and I'm also trying to test HTP, ECO, and performa wicks any preferences?
