  1. Violet Lime. This one sells like mad in tarts and bath/body, and I like it a lot more than I thought I would (I only tried it because people were asking about violet scents!).
  2. {{{{HUGS}}}} Oh, Kim, just reading your ordeal makes my stomach hurt for you. My fiance knows good and well not to touch any of my candle stuff or move it or relocate it without first asking what it is and if I need it. I would have killed him if he'd done something like your DH did, and I'd have told him to go stand in a corner until I could look at him without wanting to spit nails. LOL I hope that some of your formulas come back to you. And now I have this sudden urge to go home and document my notes in three or four different places.
  3. I just wanted to update - I ordered from The Scent Wizard, 12 blue roll-on bottles. My order was delayed because they didn't have the blue ones in stock, and they asked me if there was another color I'd prefer. I gave them a choice of two other colors. Imagine my surprise to receive my order and find not only the blue I'd originally ordered, but the two other colors as well! So I ended up with 36 roll-on bottles. I'm thrilled. I'll definitely be ordering from them again.
  4. It's free shipping for orders over $75. If I can get sugar (for scrubs) there, I might be able to make a $75 order. But if all I'm getting is cream of tartar, I don't need quite that much. LOL Crazycacti, I wish I did have connections at a restaurant - I'd sure ask. Check at Sam's, if you don't mind. If I can get it for a good price there, I may have to go ahead and get a membership. I just wish Costco had it, because I love Costco and don't love Sam's so much. Maybe I'll e-mail Costco and ask them why they don't have it.
  5. Wow, that's hard! Right this minute, based on what I like and what's selling well, I'd have to say: Red Velvet Cake (BCS) Milk Sugar Kisses (Daystar) Violet Lime (CS) Purple Haze (Daystar) Mrs. Claus Cookies (NG)
  6. I was looking at the FBB. Since they're in Texas, I figured it would get to me faster from there than anywhere else. It's in stock, I'd better order it now, huh?
  7. http://www.soapersupplies.com Has anyone ever ordered from here before?
  8. No big changes, but I've got a lot of tarts to make - all sorts of scents. I've got orders to fill, plus I'm sending in samples for February's Little Black Box, and those have to be to her by Friday. *faint* So I'll be busy, busy, busy!
  9. I checked Costco and was surprised not to find it there. I don't have a Sam's card and don't plan on getting one, so that's out (I prefer Costco and can't see paying for a Sam's membership just for cream of tartar, if they have it! LOL). So here locally, the largest size I've found is a 4-ounce jar at Target for $4.99. Yee-ouch. Of course, the downside to ordering online is shipping. For 31 ounces of cream of tartar from Bulkfoods, the shipping was almost as much as the product itself. Again, yee-ouch. But, unless I want to keep cleaning Target out of their 4-ounce jars, I reckon I'll be ordering it from somewhere!
  10. If anyone has used the following oils, please let me know what you thought: NG: Birds of Paradise Pomegranate Victorian Rose Carnation Lone Star: Rose Petals Salt Mist Rose Marshmallow Madness Pomegranate Bird of Paradise I'm looking to order five (Birds of Paradise, a rose scent, a marshmallow scent, a pomegranate scent, and a carnation scent). I already know I like NG's Toasted Marshmallow and Lone Star's Pink Carnation, but I'd like to place one order from the same place if possible. Lone Star is closer and will ship quicker, but NG takes Paypal. Thoughts are welcome!
  11. I've had a couple from Lone Star that didn't work real well, for me, but I've also had some that have done really well - Pink Carnation, Rainforest Blossoms, White Tea & Ginger, Summer Sorbet come to mind immediately. Their Tiare Flower is way strong in soy, and makes a nice scrub, too. I've gotten good results with oils packed in both the amber glass and white plastic bottles, and I like Lone Star because they're just up the road - I generally get stuff here the day after I order it.
  12. Jessica, I'm no expert, but here's what I've done. I melt enough wax for both layers and divide it into what I'll need for the first and second layers. I take the wax for the first layer, add color and fragrance, and pour at the recommended temp for the wax. The wax for the second layer already melted, as it will need to be poured fairly quickly - I poured it when the first layer had started to harden a bit but hadn't yet started to pull away from the sides of the mold. I add color and fragrance to the wax for the second layer, and pour it at about five degrees cooler than what the first layer was poured at. I've only tried it a couple of times, but I've had decent results with it. I haven't yet been brave enough to try three-layer tarts.
  13. Jessica, how are you packaging your tarts? I'm trying to find some way that works for mine - they're big stars, and I'd been packing them in bubble pouches, but standard sizes are either too snug a fit or just too big.
  14. I use a good bit of cream of tartar to make bubble bars, and it's a pain buying it in little bottles at the supermarket. Is there someplace I can buy it in larger quantities? I've checked our local Costco but didn't find it there.
  15. Bumping an old thread - what size shrink wrap do you use for your tarts? Is there a bag that's the right size? Do you just cut sheets of shrink wrap to fit? I'm debating going that route with packaging my tarts, and I'm just not sure where to start. Thanks! ETA: And can I just use a heat gun with the shrink wrap, or do I need special equipment?
  16. I'm also looking at their Pomegranate (Ripe) and Sage Pomegranate, if anyone has tried those.
  17. I'm interested specifically in Campfire Marshmallows and one of the rose scents - Rose Bush, Rose Petals or Rose Blooms. Has anyone tried any of these, and does anyone have a comparison on the rose scents? I've been pleased with the oils I've gotten from TC before, but just thought I'd see if anyone had experiences with these particular ones.
  18. Cami, you mentioned Utah - I've never ordered from Soapers Choice, but I have ordered from Majestic Mountain Sage, and they're located in Utah. I've been very pleased with the quality of their oils, and I thought shipping to Texas was pretty reasonable.
  19. My order is en route, expected to make it here on 1/22. It went out on 1/16, so six days may seem like a long time, but there's a weekend and a holiday in there. So, I'm happy thus far!
  20. That's what I was thinking. I gave up on the V-1 because I had so many problems with cracking.
  21. I use Ecosoya PB, and I compared prices at BCS and Candlescience. Candlescience's price on the Ecosoya PB is a good bit less than BCS. I didn't compare shipping costs, though - it might cost more to get it to me from Candlescience (although I doubt it would cost $10 more). I'll have to see.
  22. KC, I've used Lone Star a good bit - they're just up the road from me, so shipping is super fast. I've been pleased with most of their scents - good throw, and most have been spot on with the description. There were a couple that haven't worked for me - Storm Watch (wasn't what I was expecting at all) and Cool Cocoa (not real strong) come to mind, but I've been happy with most everything else from there. I love their White Tea & Ginger (this one sells like gangbusters for me) and Summer Sorbet. (I wish they had a soy wax other than V-1, but that's a whole 'nother thread. ) I get a big chunk of my oils from Daystar and Bitter Creek South (both here in Texas, I like to stick close to home when possible), and I've also been very pleased with Nature's Garden and Candle Science and Peak's. No way could I narrow it down to just one.
