  1. My question or questions....can you use vybar in J50. Since the 260 is for containers and helps eliminate air bubbles (which I have been getting a lot of lately) woulld the vybar help this? I did a search here and haven't really found the answer. I know J50 has additives in it, but would it hurt to try a little bit of vybar? TIA...Dee
  2. Darla...thanks much, that makes sense to me. I guess I'll just have order some and give it a try! I do the canes with photo embeds, but I like how the water slide looks for text, like on the palm pillars. Wish me luck!
  3. I hate to sound so stupid, but I've never used these and I'm not sure I'm understanding it right. You buy this paper for the decals and then design your own or how do you print on them? If you wanted to make a palm pillar and add text to it, how does it work? Sorry for being so dumb about this, but the candles in the gallery with text using this are beautiful! Any help would be appreciated, TIA Dee
  4. Someone will always complain about something! But you should test more to make sure they burn properly. I use the Zinc wicks and have no problem.
  5. I have tried BananaNut Bread and I like it and a few of my customers like it, the scent throw is great. My 2 new favs. from CS are Wildberry Mousse and Blueberry Cheesecake....these two are awesome! Anyone else try these 2?
  6. I've never tried Joy wax, but I use J50. My customers love my candles and they say the scent throw is great and they like how clean the jars burn. But I HATE the wet spots. And lately it seems no matter what I do, I have horrible wet spots, big spots. I have to heat gun them to get them to look decent. But no one seems to care but me. I have tried everything, clean jars, heated jars, cooling in oven, adding crisco, adding soy. Nothing seems to help. The strange thing is...they look really good at first and then maybe the next day or so.....here come the spots! Anyone else have that problem with J50?
  7. Thanks Julia, think I'll have to purchase that, it looks perfect! I don't care that its used, not for a dipping vat. Better go buy it now!
  8. That cooker looks perfect, I'll have to look for a cheap-o! The coffee can worked, but it was kinda' hard to work with. I'll keep looking!
  9. I started embedding photos close to a yr ago, with Donita's help, and lots of it! Everything she has ever told me has been right on the money, even if I just wanted to try something even though she said it wouldn't work, she has always been right! It took a lot of practice and patience to get my photos right, and I still have a few problems with larger pictures. I can't even imagine trying to get one to stick all the way around. But if you figure it out, let us know! I can't wait to get enough time to do another shell cane and by the way, my friends all loved the first one! Thanks Donita!
  10. How thick were your sides with the 11? I did a 3" pillar, scented peach, with the 12 and had no over spill. And after a while I had a good scent throw.
  11. I dont know if that would work with photo's, never tried it BUT...I made a shell cane and over-dipped it in 4045EP wax with a little beeswax and it came out fine, but I over-dipped a second one without beeswax and it didn't adhere good to the cane, it had air bubbles and looked awful. Did you use ice cubes to get your photo to stick? And put into a cold water bath? I know you can peel the photo off and start over, I've done that! hth a little, maybe one of the experts can answer better. Good Luck!
  12. What do you guys for a dipping vat? I need to over-dip the seashell canes, 5x6 candle size. I tried a coffee can and it worked ok but I was just wondering if there is something better. TIA
  13. my containers tunneled at first and then caught up. After burning a while, I can't remember off hand how long, they were going great. Burned all the wax off the sides of the jar and looked much better, might have been like the second burn. I have a peach pillar burning now, its a 6" tall and its about 2" burned down, it has some left on the sides, so maybe breaking that off will help it. Don't really know yet but its burning good.
  14. BEAUTIFUL JOB!! What I'd like to know is how did you get your tealight holder so centered. I tried one with a votive (glass) holder in it, and it embedded and was ok, but not perfectly centered. Whats the trick? This wax is definietelly fun to work with.
  15. I made a 3x4 palm pillar, scented cranberry marmalaid and used the cs14 wick. The first night it burned for 4 hours and did very nicely. Th HT was good, its melt pool was almost perfect. The next night (at work) I lit it again and it was doing so well, good HT and looking good. But after about 3 hrs it leaked out of one side, just a tiny little stream and it seemed to melt the pillar down the side like a tiny gulley, know what I mean? I guess the 12 wick is better, that pillar is still going, but the sides are not melting at all. What do you all think? I dont like that much hang up on the pillar, with the 12, but the 14's are going to cause problems, I'm thinking. Anyone have any test results? Please share. Oh...how are you doing with the containers?
  16. Thanks for looking everybody, but I need practice and lots of it . But they are fun to do!
  17. I did a peach pillar with that wax and got no HT, let us know if your peach throws. Beautiful...by the way!
  18. Heres how my peach pillar burned...it 3x6 mold with a 14 wick. It was burning all day yesterday and burned only 1 1/4" down and left about almost 1/2" sides, no smoking at all. Even tho it left the sides you could see a nice glow as it was burning down. I would like it to burn more of the sides away, but it did look pretty. I only had the 6" wicks so what I did was cut off the tab and pulled it up thru the candle to get enough wick to light. Figuring the candle didn't have to burn all the way to the bottom anyway. And I sprayed the mold with a tiny bit of silicone spray and un-molded while it was warm, slid right out. I cann't get my pics to post again.....I'm hit & miss with that. Today I'm burning a smaller 3x3 scented with clean cotton. Anyone else have any results yet? Lets figure this out Dee
  19. I did a creme brulee that threw....but that was the only one. I'm going to try 1 1/2 oz pp and stir it a little longer and see if that helps. Cause they are really pretty pillars. Are you all adding the fo at like 180-190? Or hotter, and pouring at 180, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Could be! TIA
  20. Is everyone getting a good hot throw? Because I'm not, I had a peach pillar burning all day and it looks great, but I cant smell a thing. Any ideas?
  21. I find this wax easy also, but how much fo are you using, mine isn't hot throwing as good as I'd like it to. I used 1 oz pp.
  22. thats what I'm thinking too. It takes a while to get a good burn going. But they seem to catch up nicely. I'm not getting a good scent throw, using 1 oz pp. How much fo are you using and is it throwing good?
  23. flight...the pic u posted on how that candle is burning is exactly how mine started out. But they all caught up and burned evenly, good melt pool and melted the wax from the sides of the jar. But I didn't have a great HT. I used 1 oz FO to 1# wax. Gonna try 1 1/2 oz next. What did you use?
  24. I got all 3 types and made all 3 candles. First of all...I tried the glass glo in my 3" salsa jars with the CS wicks #12 & 14. I didn't see that much of difference in the burn, so I'm going to use the 12. They burned the same way most of yours are burning, with that thin crusty layer forming, but they all caught up and burned great! I had a full melt pool and clean burn, not much wax at all left on the sides of the jar, if any. I used 1oz FO pp lb of wax and I think the ht could have been better, so I'm going to try 1 1/2oz next time. I was testing a pillar last night at work, its a 3x 6 scented peach. It looked great and was burning nice. Slowly....after about 2 hrs I had a decent melt pool, not to the the sides yet, but not a lot of ht (1oz pp #) That was a 14 wick. I'm thinking after reading all these posts that this is just the way this wax burns, starts off strange but catches up and does fine. What do you all think? And how much FO are you all adding and how is your scent throw? I'm going to light up a jar now and see if I can smell it, got one made with moon lake musk. What are you comments on this wax, I really like it and its easy to work with and easy to wick! TIA Dee
