  1. LOL! I can hear him...he's saying, "You just wait, I'm going to get those CLOWNS that are under your bed to come get you!":laugh2:

  4. I'm a newbie as well and I can tell you that your best bet is starting with a kit. This way, you will get a "feel" for it without making huge purchases at first. Another piece of advice is to find a supplier near you so when you are ready to make large purchases, shipping doesn't eat you alive. I had the same questions you did, but truly there are no answers because it's based mainly on personal preference. (Even geographic location/altitude can affect how your materials behave when making candles.) I will say that a lot of times when you have a question, you will find the answer on this board if you search it a little. I have spent many hours here reading and jotting down notes. It is a pain and time consuming, but I guess it really all depends on how bad you want it. The people here are very helpful and very friendly, but they will not hold your hand. Most of the time they give away much more information than is truly deserved. They have spent many, many months--sometimes years finding the answers to the questions you have just asked. Welcome, though, and stick around...I promise you will learn a great deal!
  5. Like most of the others said...I would do the confidentiality contract with a non-compete clause. A lot of times the non-compete clause can include not only a number of years, but also a certain mile radius. (I have even seen one drawn up that when the time frame was over, the radius remained.) A long time ago, I used to work as a medical transcriptionist and I had to sign a confidentiality contract that stated I would NEVER disclose any information regarding a patient...for the rest of my life. I think there are a lot of options out there...I'm just not sure what works best for chandlers, but barncat probably does. As far as family members/friends being employed...well, that's a personal preference, but I would have a hard time doing it. I trust them; it's just that most of the time neither one can distinguish between business and personal. It could cause you problems elsewhere in the workplace...not them "stealing" a recipe. KWIM?
