  1. I was told by a decorator to always triple the price of what it cost you, don't short yourself . You time is worth a lot of money. I think $22-$24. Your basket looks great, keep it up. loulou
  2. scented, Is it ok to use the wax or just throw it away?
  3. I have been making candles for over a year now and this is the first time this has ever happened. I was making container candles and i always put my left over wax in a rubber mold so i can melt it down for a 2nd pour. Well last night i was ready to do my 2nd pour so i popped out my wax out of the mold and it had a puddle of water at the bottom of it. I used 1 oz pp j223 heated to right temp poured at right temp just like i always do, but this has never happened. At first i thought that it might be oil but it was not oily like oil, I don't know i think this is kinda stange for this to only happen with this one candle. If this has happened to any of you i would really like to know what went wrong. Thanks Loulou
  4. My dh got them at a auto supply store oreilly's i think. The towels are big and they go a long way you can clean your entire kitchen with just one. If you don't have orielly around you try a place that has parts for a car or 18 wheelers. My husband uses it to get diesel and grease off his hands and you know how hard that is to get off. its universal so it wont mess up anything.
  5. My husband just brought home some big mule wipes that he got from a auto part store. I thought it gets grease out let me try it on wax omg like magic it all came off my cabnets. They are multi purpose wipes so i just cleaned all my cabnets and all the little wax drips came right off. I will definately keep these things handy for all my household clean up. Just thought you all would want to know this. Loulou:yay:
  6. I bought some today and i couldn't wait to try them. I poured candy cane in one and it came out soooooo cute i love it.
  7. I got sugared spruce at the candle source. i use 44 zink wick but i will try the 51 to see how it does. I really want this to work because i love this scent.i was just wondering if anyone else was having this problem too. thanks for all your help. Lou Lou

I use j223 9 oz hex 44 wick 1 oz pp. i really want this one tho work because i love it and i have tried 3 other christmas tree scents and none of them work. Am i the only one that has a problem with this one. I normally have very good luck with my new scents that i test but this one is really giving me problems.Oh and i just looked it up but did'nt have any luck. Thanks

Do any of you have this problem with it. I was just trying to get it as strong as i can b/c i have an order for 12 of them and i just want it to be strong like they want it. 12. :embarasse Hello all. Here is my problem, I am testing all my candles in paraffin wax 1 oz pp. I have to try all my wicks for every fragrance that i test. I use 51, htp-105, 44 i get these wicks from cajun candles, peaks and greenleaf.I have read that some people use one wick only. Why and i not having any luck with this? I am going crazy with all these wicks for every fragrance. Is there any wick that will work great with any FO? I know we all have wick issues but there has to be an easier way than this. Any suggestions will really help. Oh i use 9 oz hex jars for all my candles. Thanks Lyndie
  13. I couldn't wait to try this so i went to wal- mart today and got the plaster of paris and i had everything else. I made my first batch this afternoon let it dry for about 5 hours and i just came right out of the mold. They look great, but the only thing i couldnt get is the color to get dark. I think i might start making them selling them and giving them as freebies with big orders. Thanks for the great ideas. Lyndie
  14. I just go my samples in from peaks and i tried the pink sugar today. As i was pouring the fo it crystalized in the bottle i had to dig it out with a straw. Then i made sure to mix it real well in the wax when i put it in my pour pot all these clumpy things were stuck to the bottom. I kept stirring they never went away so i poured the candle and all these lumps are in the candle. Do any of you know why this fo did this? Thanks Lyndie:embarasse
  15. I tried eco 4 wicks and loved them at first they had a great throw beautiful melt pool no smoking for the first 2 hours them bam smoke everywhere. The top of the container was solid black, never did this ever happen to me before. I cleaned the fan and omg the black soot was so bad. I did everything like i always do. 1 oz pp wicked right poured right. Then i tried it in another scent and different wax same thing worked great at first then it started to soot everything up. I threw those wicks away asap. I don't like to clean the fan that often.
  16. Ok, this forum is so bad for me. I just ordered some blanks to make air freshners. I am addicted, I need help my husband is gonna leave me if i don't stop making everything i see:D.But all i can say is i am having a great time doing it. Thanks for all the great info i am now a stay at home mom and i do all this to pass my time and make a little shopping money for myself. But man if i don't stop ordering everything i will not have room to move. My dh just told me we are adding on just so i can have my own room for making all my stuff. Thanks again Lyndie:wink2:
  17. Hey bunny, I hear a lot of you from Shelly i use to work with her. I gave Kathy my # for you to call me about some questions i had about a swap. I'm on my way there in just a few minutes. Hope to talk to you soon. Lyndie
  18. that response made me not want to ask any questions on this board. That was so uncalled for.
  19. I just wanted to thank Brenda for telling us about the eco 4 wicks. I am fairly new to the biz and have tried tons of wicks and waxes. I was having so much trouble finding the right wick until i read this forum. I tried a 51 zink wick and a eco 4 wick and ohhhh what a difference did it make in the scent throw( wonderful). I got my mom to test them both in different rooms and wow what a throw. I still have some other ones to try from greenleaf but i can't see it being any better than the eco 4. Great job Brenda thanks for all the info. Oh i use 9 oz hex 1 oz pp pariffin blend but i still have lots of testing to do in other waxes i will keep you all posted. thanks Lyndie
  20. I have a problem with the 51 wick in paraffin wax smoking a lot even when i have trimed the wick. Does anyone have any suggestions on why it would be smoking this much?I use 1 oz pp in 9 oz hex jars. Is it the brand of wick (cajun candle supply) are they all the same or do they have cheeper made wicks? I just ordered the wick from greenleaf but never got a chance to try them. I am hoping that the new wicks dont do this but i am still new to this and would like someone with the same prob to give me a little input. Thanks Lyndie:angry2:

  22. I just did another test burn and wow what a difference it smells great i guess i was just trying to burn it too soon. Thank you all for all your help. Now i have some relief about my scent throw because it was really stressing me BAD. So now i will be testing my new shipment of the candle source fragrance. I made some but;) they are curing. I let my friend test the j&j bedtime bath tart and she loves it she said that it is so much stronger that the cold throw. Now she wants a candle for her friend. That is the next test i have to do, But i think that it is better if i let other people test it for me b/c of you know (candle nose). Thanks Lyndie
  23. I used clean cotton(lonestar) fragrance and the cold throw is good but burning not so good. So you think the wick is not the problem? I use 51 zinc wick. I have been testing testing testing like we all preach but i guess i just want the best throw i can get. I will test again today because it has had time to cure. I know i should have waited to burn it but i was excited to see the results, but from now on i will make sure and let it cure for at least 24-36 hours before i test it. But thank you for your input I am so glad to have people to talk to about my candle making it makes things so much easier.Tonight i will make another one but maybe with a stronger scent that may help. Thanks Lyndie
