Hi all,
I purchased a 50 LB box of C3 soy wax earlier this year and would like to give the remainder away.
Would anyone be interested?
Pick up in person or cover shipping.
I’m located in California for reference

@Shari What does the cornstarch do?
-
If you had to choose one. No blends.
Things to think about:
Eco-Friendliness
"Cleaner" burn
Customer favorability
Easy wicking
Easy pouring
Easy to source
Compatible with fragrances
Aesthetics

Hi Shari, here's my recipe. I used silicone ice cube trays and each steamer came out to 1 in x 1 in.
20 oz. Sodium Bicarbonate
10 oz. Citric Acid
36 mL Eucalyptus Essential Oil
Witch Hazel -
Does anyone have experience with shower steamers? I've made a few batches but the scent did not come through in the shower as strong as I'd like. I am using essential oils such as eucalyptus and peppermint oil. Any tips on how to rework these batches? Thanks.

CandleScience has them:
-
I buy mine at onlinelabels.com or sheetlabels.com and use their Microsoft Word templates to print my own labels.

WOW, they have great stuff! I would love to try their fragrances and jars, but looking at the prices I'm not too sure I will 🤣
They are no longer in USA, here is the announcement: https://www.candleworksusa.com/category/201460

There are lots of people who believe in cure times, and lots of people who don't. Personally, I cure for 3 days, but I'm 99.9% certain there's no chemical reactions taking place after the candle completely hardens (~24 hours).
As others have recommended, try a wax with paraffin. It should be a sure way to get a throw.
May I ask what wax you use? 3 day cure time sounds lovely!!

Thank you thank you. I might just mix C3 with one of the recommendations above.

It is because the cd12 cannot draw up to burn as much wax as the cd14, so the remaining wax just melts more around the flame. Does not make 12 a “better” choice at all. Hot throw is created by the wick being able to fully combust that melted fuel and “throw” it into the air.
As the candle with the 12 in this case continues to burn the tendency is for it to keep developing a deeper and deeper melt pool which actually makes the melt pool cooler with less robust hot throw. Cd16 May have been a better choice.
Interesting ! Thanks for clarifying. For 8oz glass jars (2.5" - 3" diameter) would I be closer to cd14 or cd16?
-
strange how CD12 achieved a greater melt pool than CD14 😳

Re-do tests with larger versions of all with MP diameter less than 2.75"
Through experience, I know the CD14 & CDN14 in a tin will reach FMP in a normal amount of time. I predict these wicks will work well in the tins once the air currents are built within the tin.
These same wicks may be a size too big in taller glass containers. Tests of tins and glass status jars to come. stay tuned.
this is extremely helpful! thank you

Can anyone recommend a wax with short cure time and strong CT/HT? Is there such a thing?
I'm currently using C-3, Candlescience FO's and HTP wicks. Zero HT after a month. So ready to ditch C-3 😅

https://www.candlemakingsupplies.net/ also has HTP wicks.
im currently testing HTP wicks with C3 wax.
would you consider this as too big of a wick?
-
thank you all. i'm going to shop around for a respirator. for now i'm going to see if a disposable mask would suffice. i have them laying around my house, might as well put them to use.

Are you getting headaches while making the candles or in burning them? I know some people are very sensitive to scent and some are to different types of waxes - my sister cannot burn paraffin candles they make her sick literally
If your getting headaches while making candles Wear a respirator and you won’t get headaches and you will be protecting your lungs
natural fragrance oils would only be found in essential oils and they are pretty pricey for the amount needed to scent a candle but there are many suppliers that carry good quality ones
terrible headaches while making them. i'm wondering if synthetic fragrances in general cause headaches and if working with natural oils would be better. i don't get headaches while burning them. i use C3 and the heat throw is 60% existent.

hi all,
can anyone explain why some fragrance oils cause headaches? i've been researching online and found out why but not exactly what ingredient or chemical causes the headache itself...
can anyone recommend fragrance oils or suppliers for someone with a sensitive nose?
who are your favorite suppliers for natural fragrance oils?
-
hi everyone,
who are your favorite suppliers for fragrance oils? i've been using fo's from a local candle store but they are headache inducing !! are all fo's composition the same? are there fo's out there less headache inducing than others?
i want to try natural fragrance oils but read that they are just as tricky as essential oils in soy candles.
thanks in advance.
