  1. Hi everyone: I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the end of last year so I have not been making candles for the past 7 months or so. I'm just about through with my Chemo and am hoping to get back in the fall with my candlemaking. Just wondering if there are any new terrific scents that I have missed out on. I smelled one yesterday at a shop called "Grapefruit/Blackberry." It was awesome. Looked at a few companies this morning but didn't see anything with that fragrance. If you have time, I would appreciate a reply about new ones that are selling well for you. Thanks a bunch. Marty.
  2. I do the wax dipped bears. I'm in Louisiana. If interested you can reach me at 985/526-8979 or 985/446-4020 and my e-mail address is martyscandles@yahoo.com. Marty
  3. I use Bamboo Teak from The Jar Store in GW 464. Great cold and hot throw. Marty
  4. I use Bamboo Teak and Ginger Fig. Both are great scent thowers. I use GB 464 wax. Marty
  5. I received and tried the clear M&P soap base from Wholesale Supplies Plus. I am trying to make soap for children using the fish in an oval container. I did a 3 oz. soap and tried it and after one use I had used half of the soap. I can't imagine someone paying $3.00 for a soap that you can use twice. Can someone suggest which is the best clear M&P base and which one lasts the longest. Thanks, Marty
  6. I use Cajun's Baby Powder, Sugar Cookie and Mulberry Madness. These are excellent oils. I do a lot of Scented Bears and these oils throw like crazy. They are also good in candles. Marty
  7. Thank you all for your replies. I really appreciate it. I will try Bubble Gum and Fruit Slices and let some of my great nieces and nephews use them. Also, which base do you prefer for children. Thanks again, Marty
  8. Please excuse my typo in the Title Sopa, should be SOAP. I tried editing it, but was unable to. Thanks, Marty
  9. Could any of you give me ideas of what scents you use for children's soaps. I would think anything too strong would not be good for young children's skin and could be very irritating . I was thinking of Oatmeal,Milk and Honey, but that's about all I can come up with. Also, which supplier do you use to get your M&P base from. Also, I think this would have to be something very mild. Thanks for your suggestions. Thanks, Marty
  10. I use their Ginger Fig and Bamboo Teak. Both are super strong and work great in my wax. You can cut back to 1 oz. per pound. I use Golden Brands 464. Marty
  11. Hi: I have been using these jars for over 2 years now and they are great. Last year had an issue with the tops not fitting and Fairway went out of their way to correct the problem. I live in Louisiana and they are shipped from Dallas which is the closest warehouse to me. Marty
  12. A few days ago there was a post showing a rose pillar (I think it was in this section) and some one replied showing their rose pillar. It was shaped like a rose bud. I have looked and looked and can't find it. I don't know whether or not it was moved. Does anyone remember seeing this? Thanks for your replies. Marty
  13. Thanks for your replies. I was thinking of Snowy Pine and will give it a try. Thanks again, Marty
  14. I just recently got a wholesale account in a local grocery store chain (13 stores) for my waxed dipped bears. On the initial order the manager of the floral department picked "Wedding Cake" as the fragrance for all the stores. She decided that she wanted just one scent for each season. My problem now is what to pick for Christmas. I was thinking of a pine or cinnamon, but when I mentioned cinnamon to one of the managers she said "Oh no, not cinnamon." I need a really strong oil as I find the softer scents do not throw that well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Marty
  15. Try using a slicone spray or WD-40. I had this happen to me and I had red all over my floor because it was under my shoe. With the silicone spray you can see the dye just coming off of the floor. WD-40 takes a little more rubbing to get it off. Good luck. Maty
  16. Can someone tell me where to order Polypropylene bags for packaging wax dipped bears. I get 12x18 from Aroma Haven but am looking for a larger size and can't seem to find any. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Marty
  17. Thank you for your responses. I did try mixing with olive oil and it has helped a lot. There's still some small specks but nothing compared to the first few batches. Now the problem I'm having is that the color is closer to a lavender than blue. Please tell me where to get the FDC's or PA what dyes do you use and from which supplier. I'm in a pinch right now because I need the soaps for the end of this week and don't have time to get another type but I need something for the future. Once again, thanks for replying to my question. Marty
  18. Hi all: I am in the process of using Shea Butter Melt & Pour Soap base from Bramble Berry and trying to get a baby blue color. I need to make 50 heart shaped soaps for a baby shower and am having difficulty with the blue oxide. I am able to get the baby blue color, but the coloring does not mix in well at all. I use the microwave method, put a small amount of coloring and stir and stir and stir. Like I said I'm able to get the color I want, but once I pop the soaps out of the molds, there's a whole bunch of blue color specks on the bottom of the soaps. Can any of you give me some advice as to how I can avoid this problem. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks Marty
  19. Thank you so much. Will order today. Marty

  24. You really don't have to list ingredients for soap? You don't have to indicate what size it is, 3 oz. or 4 oz., etc. thanks for the information. Marty
