  1. In my crazy quest to find the perfect lemon lavender, I found them on ebay. they gave me their site: http://scentimentalgiftsetc.com/perfumes.aspx I had never heard of them and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. mucus garcias! (lol...what my three year old says instead of muchas gracias!)
  2. Silicone here. I would not have enough sink space or dishwasher space to wash mine!
  3. Not sure. I begged for it, lol! It is truly the only grapefruit I found that did not give a funky smell, that was super true and threw like a bugger in my soy. Even though it was a grapefruit/mint, the mint was just a slight hint. It was flat out like you had cut open a grapefruit without any sweet vanilla-y along with it. I have about 1/4 of an ounce which I will probably take to my grave. It was not a HUGE seller for me, but it was a very steady summer staple, not to mention it was my absolute favorite.
  4. I am so sorry for your loss. It is not the same event, but same idea. For my husband's 40th bday, we had a big surprise party. With the invites I sent a note with my email address, and asked them to share their favorite story about him. Oh boy, did I get some doozies! I just copied and pasted them and was able to print them out on cardstock. I put them together in an 8x8 album. I think all in all I had about 65 entries. I did his in a denim/western theme. All the papers I bought were in the blue/brown family with some red thrown in there. I kept the pages fairly simple...just concentrating mostly on the messages. You could always do a theme around something she liked...flowers, buterflies, certain color combo. If you are interested, I will scan a few pages for you and post them.
  5. How I wish I could get my hands on the old BNL oil grapefruit and mint. It was the ONLY grapefruit I could get to burn well. I tried all the ones mentioned and then some and could not get anything that compared. :sad2:
  6. Awwww...are you saying you are coming to Tx just for me??? Seriously, we have to see who is interested in coming. The Tx conf in Lufkin has the 2008 dates but the schedule of events is still from 2008. Curious to see what they have this year....
  7. Thanks all.... Scented you are super sweet... I will just get a fragrance pack from them and save you the trouble. Thank you so much, though.
  8. Now see, you got me all excited thinking someone had a source. lol.... I broke down and ordered a sample from WSP. The price just makes me cringe, but if it is a dead on, worth it. I am going to put the LS oil in wax and try it out just in case there is a miracle transformation. I will update this post one way or the other.
  9. I just got a sample of it from Lone Star and I am bummed. I smelled it oob next to a yakmee tart and it is not even close. The LS oil smells so much like cleaner, and the tart has a "pretty" floral tone to it missing from the LS oil. Yes, I know when I get it in wax, it might be different, but gracious, it would be a miracle stretch...lol. I have tried mixing my own to get this concoction...cannot come close to the yankmee which I love! I know WSP has it. Has anyone compared it to the yamkmee candle? Anyone by chance put it in soy? Or is there another supplier that has it?
  10. First, I apologize. I truly tried to do a search and find posts about FOH oils in soy, especially Lavender Martini. Alas, I mention in another post, the search function just is not working for me. I really want to test Lavender Martini in soy and I was looking at her site. I thought, what the hey...let's get some samples. I have never ordered from her before. I am thinking of the following. Most of them say they do great in soy. Of course, I have bought from a supplier before that constantly says "this ROCKS in soy" and I could not smell it standing over it. So, color me a tiny bit skeptical. However, I have read nothing but good things about FOH. Any thoughts on these in so: Lav Martini (I SO want this one to work!) Cosmopolitan Martini Eucalyptus Spearmint (how close to bbw is it?) Iced Carrot Cake (I have a customer requesting this one.) Tuscan Herb (i have never smelled the pier one version, but this one just speaks to me...it is everything I love. Wondering how it throws...) Yuzu Thank you much!
  11. Dear Lord I just saw where I said BNJ...lol! I meant JBN. Was that a dyslexic post or what? I have both of those in samples...I need to toss em in wax, but with the price going up b/c of the patchouli craziness, I might hold off.
  12. BNJ has their Stonehenge and Havana oils. You were looking for their "tobacco bergamot" candle...not sure if these fit the bill...one has tobacco and one has bergamot, lol. Descriptions: Bluestone™ (Archipelago Stonehenge Type) Price Increase Due to the Patchouli Shortage This is our version of the popular Archipelago Stonehenge Type fragrance - A wonderful scent of smoked cedarwood, bergamot and amber for a thick, masculine scent Country Club™ (Archipelago Havana Type) Price Increase Due to the Patchouli Shortage This is our version of the popular Archipelago Havana Type fragrance - Sultry scent reminiscent of after dinner rooms reserved for first class on the Titanic - Earthy, rich teak wood, cognac and a faint hint of tobacco hanging in the air
  13. Misser...was it recently that you noticed it? I have never seen this and I have been using this wax for years. I wonder if any of the other 415 users are noticing it? Aren't most of the soys that are sold as a 125 mp all soy GF? Or at least most....
  14. Hey 3bees...have you heard anything back from BC? I recently got some wax (different lot number from my previous) and it is behaving very strangely. It is burning slower (looks to need maybe one step up in wicking). Other things I noticed: * seems to be like you said, glassy/smooth tops. It is very shiny and smooth when it sets up. I have never had an EZ soy candle look like this even when I pour cool. I can get a muted smooth, but not a shiny one. * no frosting. I know I should be happy, but I purposely tried to make it frost and got a beautiful candle when I poured it hot (top looked good too). Normally pouring hot, it would frost like crazy!!!! * bubbles. this is the most bizarre thing I have ever seen. Again, in using this wax for years, I have never seen this. When I pour and then watch it, it almost looks like a carbonated beverage...tiny little bubbles rising to the top. Most go to the surface, but many are trapped on the side of the jar on the upper inch or so of the candle. I need to try and get a picture of it. * my pour pots. again, in the years I have used this wax and the same pour pots, lol, it never has done this. Normally when it starts cooling, I would get a skim/film on the top and it would get slushy. This wax does not do that. I get a film that forms on the sides and bottom of the pot and the top does not form a film nor do I get slushy floaties. Granted, previously, I would get wax forming on the sides and bottom if I let it sit too long, but I would always get a little "slush" before that happened. Also, this lot gives me a slick build up on the side of the pour pot as opposed to a chunky/rough build up that I was used to seeing. I hope that makes sense. I was hoping maybe you had heard something. BTW, these are not "cold weather" issues on my end at least. It has been unseasonably warm here. 70s and 80s. Plus, as I have said, I have used this wax for a long time...through many-o-winters with this wax and never seen anything like this.
  15. Another satisfied OBI customer! I ordered four cases of warmers and they all arrived in tip top shape!!
  16. WOW....that is a big jump! So were they the ones that told you that many more oils would be going up? As in BCN oils only, or oils in general? I think I have a sample of C&S from JBN. I will look and if so, it is yours! I cannot say if it is a dupe b/c I never smelled BNC. I will say that JBN is a GREAT company and I love their oils. They all do so well in soy, too. And I LOVE their freebie policy!!!! http://www.justbynature.com/fragrance-Specials.html You actually go through the list of fragrances and add the free ones of your choice and you get a FULL ounce...which is great for testing. I just looked and their C&S is $18/pound and it says that it is one of their strong ones that you can cut back on. Believe me, when they say you can cut back on their "stronger" ones, you can really cut back. So $18/lb AND you don't use as much...double savings! Also they have great sales... http://www.justbynature.com/Sale_Items.html I think they have them once every two weeks???? Anyway, they are sales on stuff that is popular as opposed to stuff they are trying to clear out. Top it off with customer service that just cannot be beat.
  17. Hey Mods... In looking at this, me thinkith I should have put it in a candle making forum, probably the veggie one since I am using soy. Could you pretty please move it? Thanks! Thanks Bug! Did you try your 6006 in it? Even though the wicks danced, did you get a burn all the way down?
  18. Hey Candle... Just a heads up on the search (and you may have already tried it and discovered the same thing and that is why you were asking). I am having major issues with the search. I don't know if it is across the board or if it is just my browser. For example I was looking for GL 70/30 posts. When using the search, it says there are no posts at all containing gl 70/30 or just plain ole 70/30, both "in titles" and "in entire posts." Of course I know there are many out there. Also, I just ran a search on rectangle jars and it brings up over 200 posts, but when I tried to narrow that down by looking only in the titles, it still brought up the same 200+ posts. When I started looking in those 200+ posts, all had "jar" in there somewhere, but most did not have the word rectangle anywhere in the post. Again, it could just be me and my browser, but I wanted to let you know if you are having search issues, you are not the only one.
  19. Kim (kdkolpin) this is all your fault. I read your post about the Madison jars and I saw the studio jars and now I am doing this I am miffed about the search function...I did a search and could not find much at all. I would thing there would be more??? Anyway, how crazy am I to think about testing this jar...with 100% soy. I read where the opening at the top is 2 1/4 in and the bottom is 3 1/2 (or something like that...maybe it is 2 1/2 and 3 1/4). I have to wondering if drowning is just too much of an issue with this jar because of the smaller opening, but again, my tallest apoth jars are even taller and then have the narrow neck. Anyone tried? Succeeded? Failed?
  20. I like the colors too...cannot wait to see it cut. And I have to say the description of the scent sounds amazing!!!!!
  21. I would insist that she gets a tax permit. By law in Texas, tax is due on the retail price of the candle, and SHE would ultimately be charging the actual retail price. In the above situation, tax is not being collected on the total consideration of the item. In the state of Texas, sales tax permits are free. They are easy to apply for: http://www.window.state.tx.us/taxpermit/ After the person obtains a sales tax permit, then I would sell wholesale. You have to get a copy of a properly completed resale certificate from the purchaser including her taxpayer number and all other required info. If you accept the certificate in what is called "in good faith", then you are covered in the event of an audit. Bottom line...I would not touch a sale for resale without a tax payer ID number. You can also look up Texas tax payers numbers on line: http://ecpa.cpa.state.tx.us/vendor/tpsearch1.html
  22. I had the same issue with this wax a few years ago and finally was told (after losing a LOT of money and spending tons more money on new wicks to try and figure out what was going on) that you need to test each batch of wax. I had never heard that before nor read it on the site under the wax info or the instructions. I was in the same boat as you. For years I had been using the exact same wick/oil/measurements and boom, all of a sudden with a new order of wax, I was having drowning issues. Like you, the wax out of the box looked/felt different. Sure enough, I checked with the manufacturer of the wax (Golden Food) and the sales rep was very helpful...saying that it is true, each lot can vary some times with wild swings. Since that "several thousand dollar lesson", I have seen some variances, but nothing like what I dealt with that time. Each time I get a new lot of wax, I will test it. I test three different scents, a light one, middle of the road and then a super heavy one. Each time I order, I request that all the boxes are from the same lot. I don't recall ever seeing a smooth glassy top with 415 (ez soy) without additives. Curious about what lot number you have. Also, what size wicks/brands were you using and then what did they suggest you move to. You could always stick them in the classies. Or heck, hold on to them in case the next batch is different. :smiley2:
  23. inconsistencies are understandable since, as mentioned, every state is different in their administration and collection of state taxes. While most are quite similar in the basics, again, I have found there are some variances from state to state. Actually in my line of work I have seen even the most experienced accountants butcher state tax law. It is a good idea to talk to your accountant, but it is also wise to arm yourself with information straight from your state's department of revenue. One thing that is pretty consistent among state tax law is that they don't forgive your reporting/filing errors if your accountant botched the information. Unfortunately, you are the one held liable for any penalties and interest. Your state has a pretty decent website for state taxes. I linked specifically to the area for Sales and Use tax. http://www.revenue.state.pa.us/revenue/cwp/view.asp?a=13&Q=69009&subID=B&revenueNav=|3637| There is a knowledge base area where you can search previous questions submitted and even submit your own. Under Laws & Policies you can find actual bills and rules as well as Tax Bulletins. I am sure if you nose around, you could find a toll free number for specific questions you cannot find on line.
  24. You did not pay tax on your supplies, right? The reason we do not pay tax on our supplies is because of the understanding is that we will resell products made with those supplies, and that is where the tax will be eventually collected. Of course if you wholesale the candles you made with tax-free inventory, then the ultimate sellers (wholesale accounts/retail stores) of the candle will collect tax. Use tax is necessary because not all of your tax free supplies go into candles that are ultimately sold, right? Let's just say for grins sake that in 2007 you purchased $500 worth of supplies and did not pay tax on it because you assumed most would go into items for wholesale/resale and that is where the tax is ultimately collected. So of that $500 tax free inventory, $400 went into products that were resold and ultimately the tax was collected (either by you in a retail situation or by your wholesale account which resold the product). So $100 of that tax free inventory is hanging out there...it was "used" for testing and the tax was never collected on it. So, use tax is assessed. Use tax can be assessed on stuff used for testing, damaged items, items given away for chairity, gifts or personal use. (Of course don't confuse state tax with federal tax. All of those can be written off for federal taxes) In most states it is called "Sales and Use Tax" so a lot of people don't even realize that you need to keep track of supplies "used" in business and report it under your "sales and use" tax. Someone said Actually in most states, those are considered manufacturing items. In most states, you can issue an exemption certificate when purchasing those items and not pay tax. Again, in MOST STATES, manufacturing equipment (items which typically cause a physical or chemical change) is exempt. I have said this about a million times...all states are different. Most are very similar in the basics such as the stuff above, but it is always best to check with your state's revenue office/comptroller/tax office.
