  1. Hello all. 😊I have some questions regarding wholesale for candle for any of you who have experience. I would much appreciate your opinions!

For those who are home -based, do you all allow locals to pickup at your house or do you deliver personally?

What type of boxes/packaging do you use for wholesale orders?

How did you create your line sheet? If it PDF form or a link to a website or google spreadsheet?

After a wholesale order is sent, do you followup as far as asking about product performance? Do you allow returns on items that aren't selling?

Do you offer stores NET30 or other credit terms? If so, how to make sure you get paid?

At which point did you feel your company was ready for wholesale?

What capacity of space and equipment do you think one needs before wholesaling?

    Thanks in advance!!!!

$7 is a very high wholesale cost to have, and if that is your cost then the minimum you want to sell it for is $14 wholesale and the retail will have a markup of 2-2.3x so $28 to  $32.20. Keystone aka a 2x retail markup used to be the standard but more and more stores are going as high as 2.3x markup in order to make enough money to survive. We stepped into wholesale full time last year and went from being carried in 5 stores locally to 140 in the US along with stores in Canada and Hong Kong, so if you have specific questions I'm more than happy to help out answering where I can.

    Hello litup!

I have some questions regarding wholesale...

Do you cold call/email stores or do have a representative to acquire wholesale accounts?

Last questions...I promise...lol...at which point did you feel your company was ready for wholesale? What capacity of space and equipment do you think one needs before wholesaling?

    Thanks in advance!!!!

  3. I'm apart of a woman's group and we have health discussion regarding foods to avoid and soy consumption was said to cause hormone and fertility issues. So I was shocked to find that soy is such a big thing in the candle industry. I know consumers aren't eating the wax lol...but it's so strange to me how the message of soy candles is so pro-health, but as it relates to food the message is "steer clear"

  4. I just tested the c3 and have been using problend 600. Let me look at my notes.

What they have in common -- both give me relatively smooth tops. However the c3 gives me more dips near the wick. [I'm comparing these to the lumpy, crater and sinkhole nature of 464 and 444) Nothing major. c3 is a single pour wax if your ok with a slight dip. Problend is as flat and smooth as you can get with a single pour. Huge plus.

I think c3 lasts a bit longer than the problend.

Problend is soft and somewhat sticky and comes in small slabs, c3 comes in flakes so it's easier to deal with, less messy,  in terms of handling and measuring wax.

The c3 doesn't burn as clean as the problend. Problend has a consistently clean burn. C3 has personality issues...I dunno...throughout my burn test it kept changing dramatically. However c3 finished clean...odd.

Problend is more stable, more predictable, more fool-proof...imo

Note: I tested in small 4oz tins

  5. I enjoy problend 600 however it does get wetspots in clear glass. I really want to use clear glass and need a wax that can always look great in the glass. When I look at diptyque candles. the wax doesn't stick to the glass and easily comes out. I want something like that (not easily coming out, but no glass adhesion with possibility of wetspot). elite wax sounds promising.

Elite 200 takes Natural Soy container wax to the next level! It goes beyond the C-Series waxes by allowing for even higher fragrance loads without syneresis. This performance wax is more forgiving. Complete pull-away without rattling in container. No fat bloom upon cooling, burning, or hot/cold testing. Does not contain genetically modified material. Sold by 60 lb. Box of slabs. MADE in the USA
