  1. I made the guys candles for their Christmas stockings one year. We were all into cooking so I made one Basil and one Garlic. The garlic was so strong that my SIL made my brother put it out on the porch to burn it and they could still smell it inside.
  2. I run a crock pot at shows (instead of lighting a candle, plus it puts out a lot of scent) and I can do 3-4 days before it starts to lighten up on me in the large space I'm trying to scent. I have tried to rescent and it works briefly but then the wax starts to smell funky. I think after a year, she got more than her money's worth and should be glad so got so long out of it!
  3. I know this isn't my thread, but I appreciate the reviews. Some of those sound great!
  4. Thanks for the info. I was going to look around the site but I can't quit feeding the fish!
  5. I'll PM ya. Too much weird goings on here lately to post anything too close to home on the board. Ya know?
  6. I tried EZ Soy - mottled, stringy tops and weird seepage at 6% in scent that were not heavy. Frosting to a level that was crazy with color. Good scent throw. KY w/o cottonseed - rough tops that got way too cottage cheesy after burning when setting up again. Frosting to a level that I was not comfortable when using color. Good scent throw. KY w/cottonseed - tops better but more frosting than I wanted. Tried mixing with Perfect Blend but it was actually more work than I wanted to do and my candles still frosted although they set up very nicely. Great scent throw. EcoSoya CB Adv - loved the way the candles set up and reset up after burning but scent throw was not acceptable. I settled on 464 as I can pour at 135 consistently and get smooth tops and only a slightly rough top when they reset up after burning in diameters of 3" or more. There is very little frost but I have finally dropped the color so it is rarely noticeable. Scent throw is great. Melt point is low so it is tough to ship in July & August but I typically use those months to build for fall and do retail only during those months. Before that I used Joy, Joy w/EZ Soy blend and even tried Superior Soy from some supplier I can't remember which also frosted. Before that I used 5766 paraffin and I still use 4794 for votives, electrics and big floating stars. My choice was based on ease of quantity production of a smooth, creamy candle with minimal frost and maximum scent throw both cold and hot. Hope this is the type of info you were asking for but if you need any additional info, just holler T
  7. I just might be . Your weather sound exactly like ours. Today will be 80, widy, gray with storms moving in tonight supposedly. No basements here though.
  8. While I realize that we all have our methods that we think work best for us, if I had to heat, cool, heat, cool, blah, blah, blah just to make a decent candle...I would be switching waxes. I changed wax just this year and tried 4 before I found the one I use now and the rest of the remaining cases are used for clamshells only until they are gone. Course, my opinion is based on running a business. If it was just a hobby, I suppose it might be fun to be jumping through hoops to make a wax perfect. I just pour candles as simply and easily as I can.
  9. Great idea! What an imagination you have to come up with that!
  10. I've never had any problems with any size I stuff into a priority envelope and I use them often. Sometimes I stick a padded envelope or cut up folder in to help protect (if I have used ones to recycle). I love priority for the quick deliver, free DC and ease of printing at home.
  11. I don't know how I missed these - they are so summery looking. Good job!
  12. I have my first decent sized show (after Jan/Feb shows) in July and people are pretty evenly split between summer and fall scents. By Sept I am showing holiday scents at shows and actually selling them. I'm a fall/winter/spring...anything but summer. It's 90 degrees and humid and it's only the beginning of June!
  13. I LOVE Flicker's Fragrances Brown Sugar & Fig! It is so warm and cozy & sells like crazy. Customers claim it is an exact dupe. DH hates it, but he hates everything with fig.
  14. Congrats! If you have to make a big decision, liberated is a good feeling to come away with.
  15. I need to pour a few for swap. I thought I was doing a scrub but it isn't quite the way I wanted it to turn out yet so candles it is. Got a deal on some cute little containers from Jackel so I guess I will use them.
  16. I have used them. It's not Millcreek's fault. Several suppliers evidently found the same ones & I'm thinking impact makes both. They just don't react well with vanilla heavy scents. But they are cheaper, so if you aren't using vanilla maybe they would be okay? I clearanced all the scents without vanilla and tossed the vanillas as soon as I realized that was happening.
  17. Sorry, not sure on Peaks. I bet you could email them and ask which model # they have. Or check impact mfg site and get the number and just ask for that. It's 15 somthing and I think it's 1524. It may even be listed in the coop section if you find one for clamshells. Good luck Holly
  18. There are two types. The impact model 1524 or something like that is the good one. It is a little more compact in design and thicker. The other ones are a few cents cheaper and they stink with anything with vanilla in my experience. Most the coops are the good ones and come in somewhere from 18-20cents each in coops, I think. I don't know what WSP has but I know the ones I got from Millcreek were the cheaper model.
  19. They look awesome! Actually my favorite is the blue with green on it. I love the unusual combinations in the lampwork beads. Good job.
  20. TY, Miss Mary. I though maybe Keyword Spy had changed. You are right, just knowing keyworkd of anyone else's doesn't help. You can have the exact same words and still not move your site anywhere. There are so many components to SEO and actual results. I can work my butt off and drop in ranking and lately have done nothing and still managed to move up to page one or sometimes two on very broad search terms. Now if I could get some better results on just wholesale candles or candles
  21. Miss Mary, how are you getting hits from Keyword Spy? I thought it just gave you lists of the keywords that the sites you select use? Is there some sort of advertising there? I may be thinking of someplace else, but I thought that was just a site for people who want to copy someone else's keyword strategy?
  22. I went dye free after 7 years and very little problem. I have one wholesale account who still wants color and doesn't mind any frosting. My own mother was one of the major downers about it and last weekend she told me that she has decided she loves the dye free and how it just looks clean and blends with any room. I can tell you from experience to be sure to write the scent on the jar when you pour. Mine tend to all smell similar to me on the day I pour. especially if I poured a bunch of scents and can barely remember them all-lol. I use a 2 letter abb on the bottom and after I label, I wipe the bottoms and put on warning label.
  23. TV Guilfoil has them, or did. I got a sample last year. You would have to call them or email for a price list.
  24. Your rustics are always so beautiful and these are awesome!
