  1. I use El Soy Mill and never get the lumpy bumpy tops.....I've been using it for 7 months now and love it! Saltbox Pantry
  2. I was on Just by Nature site and noticed they had a 70% Soy / 30% paraffin wax. Does anyone know if this is the same as Green Leaf 's blend. Thanks, Saltbox Pantry
  3. Did you try Canwax or Village Craft to see if they carry your wax. Both are located in Canada. Saltbox Pantry
  4. Are you adding the FO in at the right temperature? If you don't the oils will not bind with the wax giving you very poor results in the hot scent throw. Saltbox Pantry
  5. No I got my jars from Canwax in Canada but they are ordered in from the The Jar Store......I found the same with the lids not fitting and the tops are slanted. Actually I was testing my GL wax in this jar (before it broke) and I really do like it. I think I will be using this wax along with my El Soy. Saltbox Pantry:)
  6. Hi, They are from The Jar Store but I bought them through Canwax.....so I don't know.... maybe just the one out th case. But I tell you I'm afraid to put them out for sale in fear this will happen again. I really like the look of this jar and I was so dissapointed. Saltbox Pantry
  7. Just an update on my testing this jar......well yesterday after doing another burn.....3 hours. I tried to put the lid on and my jar broke...... hot wax on the container. I was not impressed! I will not be using these jars for candles...even thought they are designed for the candle industry, these are so thin can't see how they can with stand the heat. Saltbox Pantry
  8. I use El Soy Mill and you have to get the right temperatures. I don't use colour with mine so I heat it up to around 150 add my fo.....you must add your oil in at 150, if you don't, the oil will not bind with the wax......very weak - no hot scent. Once I add my fo I have my cold bath waiting and I put the container in to cool down. I do not stop stirring...it takes a few minutes to get the temperature down. Once it reaches around 100 then I pour into my wick jars. Nice smooth tops. When I first started using it, it didn't work well for me but I kept at it until I knew the wax sort of say......now I know when to pour just by looking at it. Saltbox Pantry
  9. Mix the fO in with oil before adding to the batch......so if you superfat, then have the fragrance oil mixed in with what ever oil your using and should be o.k....Do this when measuring out all your ingredients. Saltbox Pantry
  10. I test burn for about 3 hours. It still has a bit of hangup and melt is not 1/2 inch deep yet.....I'm getting a very nice throw. I think I'm going to try Eco wicks....I'm finding lately with HTP's a lot of carbon balls no matter what size it is. Saltbox Pantry
  11. I received my wax sample, poured 1/2 pound with .5 oz of Maduro oil, 8 oz metro with HTP 105. It looks so nice and smooth. Test burning it but I'm finding the top of the wax turning very dark in liquid form when it cools the top is like a greyish blue....I do not colour my soy wax. Any suggestions on why this is happening? Is it soot? Never happen to me in my El Soy. Other then that the throw is great. I also tested the Berries and Creme in El Soy and its wonderful! Saltbox Pantry:grin2:
  12. Hi, I order a lot from the U.S. but it never takes a month. Two weeks at the most. Most of my suppliers use UPS and the ones that don't ship USPS Air Mail. I would check with them before hand. I do use Canwax and Village Craft and Wick Your Wax for some supplies....they are great but the prices on FO are very high and I can get it cheaper in the U.S. Saltbox Pantry
  13. Hi there, I just started testing with that jar and I started out with HTP 105 and it seemed to burn really nice. Try it remember you will have to test burn for approx 3 hours to see if you achieve the required melt pool. Saltbox Pantry:)
  14. You have to get Orange Chiffon it is strong! Tropical Temptation strong! Love Spell is very nice and strong I like the Pumpkin Cheesecake I use 1 oz pp in El Soy Mill and works great! I haven't tried all but the ones I have are strong and compatible with soy. Saltbox Pantry
  15. What I do is have photocopies on how to properly burn a candle. When someone buys a candle, put one copy with candle in the bag. Hope this helps, Saltbox Pantry
  16. Most people don't know how to burn and most really don't care as long as scent throw is there! No matter how many times I tell my friends and family how to burn candle, doesn't matter who made it, they all look the same! Hang ups and mushrooms and some sooting. I just recently switched my friends over to soy....hate to see what my jars looks like. I'm hoping they followed my instructions! You may produce a perfect burning candle, but in the hands of a customer, it all changes! Saltbox Pantry
  17. What is the diameter of your jar? HTP 104 for 16 oz jar seems a bit small to me. Are you getting the full melt pool? I use the same type of wax. I just poured a 12 oz jar 3 3/4" diameter with HTP 1312...... worked beautifully. Saltbox Pantry
