  1. Hi, I don't use essentials oils in my soy but with FO, I use HTP 93 sometimes 104's depending on the oil. SP
  2. I bought a sample kit and didn't find it to be that moisturizing. I would add some other oils like wheatgerm, rice bran oil or Kukui nut oil to improve it. SP
  3. Wintergreen...actually everyone should stay away from this one. SP
  4. You can also try Scent Sanctuary and New Directions Canada. Both have a great selection and the prices are pretty good. Sue at Scent Sanctuary is awesome! She knows everything about soaps, scrubs, lotions and potions. You name it she knows! and the business end of it also. All your government requirements.....she really helped me out in the beginning and I still bug her once in awhile....LOL SP
  5. Great thanks for the info. Guess I will have to pass on that oil. SP:)
  6. I ordered these samples from Rustic Escentuals, I really like them but they are not strong enough in El Soy. Does anyone know of any other supplier that carries stronger version. Thanks:) SP
  7. I ordered some oils from them and with the Essence of Bethlehem its killing every wick.......they start off o.k. then in a bout 10 minutes it goes out. These are the wicks I've used...2 HTP 126, 2 HTP 1212, 3 HTP 104, 3 HTP 105. Planter container 5" long x 3" wide. Does anyone have this problem with this oil? Thanks, SP
  8. Don't let anybody tell you that you are not ready....how do they know!! And don't let anybody discourage you .....I can't believe this!!!!! If you feel your ready to venture out and sell then go ahead. Only you will know if your ready! You can try with family members, friends & co worker's. Get their feedback and improve in areas needed. You sound like you are very wise and have done research and started testing......and let you in on a secret, your testing will never end...LOL You will be testing whether you've been doing for a month or if you been doing it for 10 years. It will never stop. Thats the fun part! Good Luck and have fun! Oh yes almost forgot. I like Daisyd'Lights. SP
  9. WOW! Didn't think I would get that many responses so quickly. That's what I told her about it being a safety issue...but I got the feeling she didn't believe. This is when I told her to bring the container in for me to have a look. I do like the idea of giving her a discount for the next jar. I will have to mention that to her. Thanks again for all the response's, Saltbox Pantry:grin2:
  10. Good or bad idea? I have a customer asking me to re fill a container. I ask her how many times has it been re filled and told I would have to look at it first. I personally don't like the idea. Any thoughts or suggestions on this matter. Thanks Saltbox Pantry:undecided
  11. You know Yankme started off small just like us......this is why I refuse to wholesale so that I can keep making quality products. Yes I know you can make more money wholesaling to stores, spa's, Boutique's....etc but this is were the quality starts to play a role. I see it in my area with other candle companies. The more orders the less time for quality control. Who know's maybe Yankme is working on a new Soy line. Saltbox Pantry
  12. Hi Kerry, Yes you would have to adjust to the size of the jar. I only carry the one large jar and its 3 1/2 - 4" and that's big enough for me....LOL Saltbox Pantry:D
  13. Oh yes, It would all depend on the size of your jar. The bigger the jar more of a space between wicks and the sides of the jar. I personally have more of a concern on jars being too hot. Saltbox Pantry:grin2:
  14. O.k. I was just on Candle Science and I notice they have 3 soy waxes. Which one of the 3 soy wax are you using. If you are using El SOy mill....I tell you right now the problem is when you are adding the oil. ........ask me why I know? Because this is the wax I use and have been using for 9 months and that was my problem when I first started using it. Like yourself I was reading boards and taking advise to add my oils at a cooler temp....cannot be done with this wax. I add my FO in at 150 and stir well. Pour into the containers at around 100 for smooth tops. I use HTP for my wicks. You also need to find the proper size for your container and hopefully you are buying quality oils. Hope this helps, Saltbox Pantry
  15. When I double wick my jars I find the middle point. I then take my measuring tape and measure 1/2 out to the left, anchor the wick, 1/2 inch to the right. This give you 1 inch spread between the wicks....and yes it is closer to the center of the jar. You definitely don't want the hot flame close to the glass. Oh yes I also drew a template by tracing the bottom of the glass on a piece of paper, folding it in half one way then the other so you get a +. Draw the lines and you have your center mark where both lines meet. ....1/2 " left 1/2" right. Hope this makes sense, Saltbox Pantry:)
  16. O.k. we need a bit more info. Where did you get your oils? What wick are you using? How big is your testing room compared to the jar size......meaning if you are testing in a 1000sq open area with a 4 oz container....the chances are the scent will get lost in such a big area. Your oils might not be compatible with the wax. The oil might be very light scent....just the type of that it is. You must follow the manufacturers suggestion when adding in your fragrance oils. Saltbox Pantry:)
  17. The two blue berry's that I tested are both very sour and tart.....One is from A Scent Shop and the other is Snowtop's....these are very sour and I personally don't like it...its giving me a headache. Saltbox Pantry
  18. Hi, I never had a problem colouring my Lavender CP soap. I use violet ultramarine mix it in with 1 tbsp of oil before hand...let it sit while you are getting everything ready. For a 4lb batch I use approx 1/4 tsp. Hope this helps, Saltbox Pantry
  19. I ordered a case of 8 oz metro from Canwax which they buy from The Jar Store. The first one that I used for testing broke after 4 test burns. I was trying to get the lid on, big chunk off the side of the jar.....wax all over my counter. It just seems that these jars (the ones I received) from The Jar Store are awfully thin. The 10oz Apothecary are pretty thin also.....I can't take a chance of this happening to one of my customers. Saltbox Pantry
  20. I think only one on my list is a CherMark.....that figure's...LOL Saltbox Pantry
  21. How about one of those old fashion gratters with 4 different sides....one of the sides has that type of blade.....and its cheaper to boot. Saltbox Pantry
  22. I'm in search of STRONG incense type oils and and spa clean scents came across these at Aroma / Rustic Escentuals. Badedas, Essence of Bethlehem, Essence of Jesus, Flannel Sheets, Flower Child, Fresh Aire. Anyone try these? If you did, how did it throw in Soy wax? And how does it perform in CP soap. Thanks in advance, Saltbox Pantry
  23. Well I'll be! Never seen that section before....thanks for pointing it out:grin2: Saltbox Pantry
  24. Here's a supplier that carries brown Kraft labels and more....brownkraftlabels.com Saltbox Pantry:D
