  1. It doesn't feel waxy but feels thicker than regular lip balm. I like waxless because it stays on longer. I've ordered from Lip Ink & I wanted to try and duplicate it. Thank you for helping.
  2. Can you help please? I purchased one from www.lipink.com which is great & stays on. Thank you.
  3. Cyclo & Dimethicone are two different types of silicone & I would not sub one for the other. I would not buy Magic Fusion again because it felt like slime no matter how I altered their recipe suggestions, however, everyone liked the samples.
  4. I would not add any dyes, however, I have seen it colored with red beet root powder which is made from dried beets.
  5. The finest Monoi in the world comes from www.moosecreekbathandbody.com because it's genuine. I've ordered from every supplier on the planet because I use it constantly & no one else compares. If it's not listed on the site, email Alice because it's worth waiting for.
  6. I disagree with Sugarplum because Tapioca Starch & Natrasorb are not identical. They are two totally different products.
  7. I would add a very tiny amt. because I recently used Natrasorb & it made my mixture grainy & nothing I did afterward helped. I always sift even the tinest amount no matter how fine Natrasorb or cornstarch appears. Sifting does make a difference believe me.
  8. Both are fragile & spoil easily so keep refrigerated until ready for use. I always use a preservative because either will spoil in hot weather. I always warm it in hot water NEVER in a micro & add as the last item to any recipe.
  9. Natrasorb can be subbed for IPM which I "ALWAYS" sift before adding notwithstanding it is very fine powder because sifting makes it dissolve better.
  10. Congratulations--best investment you will ever make! Nothing like a Kitchen Aid for professional results. I use the whisk for butters, however, I use the dough hook esp. in the winter when butters take longer to soften because a whisk is delicate & can bend if you try to soften something very hard. I also purchased the water bath option, which attaches to the bottom of the bowl because I can use it with hot water or ice which alleviates for the most part having to refrigerate the mixture during whippings.
  11. It would not dissolve totally & my lotion bars have dark specs. I tried adding it when the mixture was hot, cold, warm but nothing helped.
  12. for lotion bars and body butter. Thank you for helping.
  13. I've had great experiences; you can definitely feel the difference in the finished product. In warm weather I soften it in the sun otherwise I put it in a glass bowl over hot water. It never use direct heat.
  14. At what stage should that be added, while mixture is hot or as it cools?
  15. sounds wonderful--please share the recipe if possible. Thank you.
  16. What is the procedure for pouring cream/lotion into containers, directly after whipping, while hot, warm or after it cools? My whipped butter had an inch of foam & by the time it evaporated the mixture was very thick. Thank you.
  17. forgot to mention--start with a small amount depending on how much product you are making. For 16 oz., I start with 1/2 teaspoon & test the mixture to feel how it has incorporated; if you still feel it is greasy, sift another 1/4 tsp, test again until it feels right. I would not add more than 1 full teaspoon unless you are using very heavy oils/butters. The important thing is to sift it on top of the mixture & "hand blend" before you start whipping otherwise the powder will fly all over.
  18. Natrasorb is an ultra fine powder used mainly for dispersing bath oils a/k/a blooming bath oils; wheat starch a/k/a tapioca starch--known by 2 names but they are identical-- is a bit heavier in texture which is used to combat greasiness. You can use regular corn starch but I prefer Natrasorb. I ALWAYS sift any type of powder even Natrasorb because it mixes better. In my experience wheat/tapioca starch seems to clump together no matter how many times I sift it.
  19. I've worked with this--probably about 1/2 tsp. because it is very concentrated if you're using the liquid version.
  20. www.gardenofwisdom.com lets you order anything in smaller quantities which gives you a chance to sample without paying a fortune. No other supplier offers this courtesy.
  21. I ordered from Oregontrailsoaps.com & the quality was excellent. I'm awaiting my order from soaper supplies & will advise if it compares to Oregon.
