  1. I am a loyal customer for years because owner will let you order samples to try so you don't waste money.
  2. I am a loyal customer for years at www.gardenofwisdom.com for butters, etc. Personalized customer service--owner will let you order a small amount of anything to try so you don't waste money because it did not work, etc. Fast shipping, excellent prices, mention you are a board member.
  3. CUPUACU BUTTER is an effective alternative to lanolin because of its high water absorption capacity according to the manufacturer JARCHEM INDUSTRIES, Newark NJ. I've used Cupuacu in balms with excellent results. It melts quickly & doesn't have the tackiness like lanolin. Cupuacu Butter is available from GardenofWisdom.com--who I have been ordering from for years. They are the only supplier who accommodates you by letting you order a small amount of anything on their site so you're not stuck with, for example, a pound only to find out it isn't what you wanted which definitely saves you money. Mention you are a board member.
  4. I definitely would refrigerate whipped shea in warm weather if fragile oils were used like hemp seed oil, evening in primrose, rose hip seed oil because they go rancid quickly. Hardy oils like jojoba, fractionated coconut oil have a very long shelf life which do not require refrigeration.
  5. I've had luck whipping shea with a bit of FCO, which makes it spread easier on the skin & shea oil (Karite Extract). I warm the oils slightly then whip. Start with a small & increase as necessary.
  6. The board has excellent recipes. I don't like cornstarch & I have been making butters for several years. Sometimes even the smallest amt. of cornstarch becomes grainy & the mixture feels like it has fine sand particles throughout. In my opinion cornstarch changes the texture so you take your chances using it.
  7. Yes. I purchased body spray from various sources & it was always packaged in aluminum bottles.
  8. I always use it in hand/cuticle balm.
  9. The technical name is Kpangnan Butter a/k/s African Tallow a/k/a golden shea. This butter is ENTIRELY DIFFERENT from shea butter although people refer to it as golden shea. The scent/texture is wonderful much less greasy & much smoother than shea. I ordered from Agbangkarite--price is outrageous--& www.bubblesandbeyond.com, which was much less, & both were IDENTICAL in every respect. Once you use Kpangnan Butter you will never use regular shea. www.bubblesandbeyond.com offers a good selection/excellent prices & co-ops. The have other butters not listed so contact customer service. It is a new company & they aim to please. They will send samples with the order if you request them.
  10. A major vitamin chain should carry it.
  11. Has anyone used these working with beeswax since removal with metal utensils is endless work. Thank you.
  12. I always add a small amount of Vitamin E; adding too much causes drag.
  13. I'm a faithful customer at www.gardenofwisdom.com which is the only supplier who will let you order a small amount of anything on their site so you can sample without going broke. No other supplier offers this personal service plus excellent prices, immediate shipping. Markey (the owner) makes b&b products & will gladly help with anything. Mention you are a board member.
  14. www.moosecreekbathandbody.com has the finest in the world. I've ordered from many suppliers & they have the best. If it's not listed on her site, email Alice.
  15. The finest in the world comes from www.oregontrailsoaps.com. I use a lot of vco in my creations & have ordered from every supplier on earth. Oregon is the finest.
  16. I'm sure www.gardenofwisdom.com has everything. I'm a faithful customer for years. Excellent prices/immediate shipping. The owner will let you order a small amount of anything, if you want to try it first, rather than wasting money on something you'll never use again.
  17. This problem always happens after I pour the mixture while it cools in containers. I've tried pouring at various temps but nothing helps, consequently the finished product looks molted/unprofessional. Thank you for helping.
  18. I forgot where I saw this on the board. Thank you for helping.
  19. Is anyone interested in ordering with me?
  20. Excellent shea/cust. srvs/immediate shipping; very pleased.
  21. The cream I want to make has the following: 2 T each ingredient: beeswax, palm/emu/almond oils, 3 T apricot oil, 1 C goatsmilk, 36 drops ess oil. What preservative should I use & how much? Thank you.
  22. I melt them in the sun when possible, if not, I use a double boiler. I never melt shea directly over heat. I use a separate cup which I put in hot water until it softens. I never use a micro for shea because it destroys the healing properties notwithstanding what anyone else tells you. My info is from the Shea Butter Institute.
  23. You can use any recipe just sub coffee for one of the other butters. I made a fabulous whipped butter with equal parts coffee/ cocoa & everyone loves it.
  24. I order bulk from Bamboulaltd.com which has excellent customer service, immediate shipping & excellent shea in several times. Bamboulaltd gives free samples. Abangakarite is excellent but costs too much & charges shipping.
  25. It comes in a small pot & you can wear the balm alone or it can be used in conjunction with another product. I like waxless balm because it has a slightly thicker consistency & stays on longer than anything made with oil.
