  1. I made a batch of OHP on Thursday, and when I added my FO, I added it too hot, so alot of it evaporated. I molded it up anyway.

Now I find that I really don't have enough FO in the batch.

My question is... Can I rebatch this, and add more scent, or is it best left alone..

    TIA

  2. OMG, my heart goes out to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it were my DH... he'd be sleeping outside, in the cold, with the skunks, and porcupines that rome around our place, not on the sofa in the livingroom!!!

I was going to suggest the same as others.... send him to the dump... that is until I read where the folder went!

Hopefully once you've calmed down, some of those recipes will come back to you!!

Many hugs are being sent your way!!!!

  3. I was able to add more water into my lye water, so I brought that back to normal, and I did have my sugar in there, so I have another batch cooling as we speak!

Oh.. and this time I saw what you meant by the piece in the middle of the bowl that wasn't melted!! So all in all my 3 # batch took close to an hour to cook!!

    Thanks AJ!!!:)

  4. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!:shocked2:

I had found my answer for the sugar... 1tbls per pound of oils... but hadn't found it for the lye concentration. Darn... I've just mixed my lye using 33%...

ok... maybe I can add more water now that it's all mixed!!!:tiptoe:

    Thank you for response!!!:)

  5. Very cool... I think we should all be pretty proud of ourselves!!!! :yay:

I do have one last question... although maybe if I did a search on here, I might find the answer...

I'm gearing up to make a batch using the Dove FO, and my regular recipe...

Can I use 33% lye concentration???? Or am I better use the "normal" water...

    TIA

Ooooooooop.. edited to add... :tiptoe: And is the same amount of sugar for 50 oz of oils???

    Thanks

  6. Thanks AJ... I'm going to try that Dove FO today in OHP.. I was checking my 3rd batch of Dove CP last night.... and I gotta ditch it!!!! So hopefully with a little luck OHP will solve my problem for this FO!!:)

This is really fun. Now to watch the coops for soaping stuff. My poor budget!

:laugh2: Welcome to the club Sharyl!! Your soap turned out very pretty!! Good job!

  7. Thanks for the response!!:)

I do have one last question....sorry for all of the questions....

One of my FO's... Dove from RA.. of which I've made 3 CP batches... they have all gotten DOS.. 3 different recipes.. curing quickly.. the works..

If I were to try this using OHP method, do you think I'd have a better chance of eliminating the DOS???

  8. That looks fine Sharyl!!:yay: I'm so glad that you were able to make it through. when I saw that you were trying to whisk this one, I kinda thought that you were going to have pretty tired arms tonight!!!:laugh2:

Yea... I wish more people would have participated too!!! We learn soooooooooooo much doing these classes!!!:)

I do have a question AJ... once you are settled back in for the evening...

This method wouldn't work using goats milk would it?? Or am I best to keep the goats milk for cp.. non gel only??

Tomorrow I'm going to try another batch of OHP using another finicky FO that I have!!!
