Maybe it's not what you wanted E, but it sure is gorgeous!! That scent sounds divine too. Now I'll know what else to order in my sample pack from them!!!
-
I'm so sorry that your batch is now RIP!! But it and this thread gave me a super laugh though, especially your last post!!
I've had a couple of fugly batches too, but I admit... not this bad!!
You'll do better next time!!!:smiley2:
E: At least the ooze in your batch was a prettier colour

Tenderflake is lard. In the yellow small containers here in Canada.

Yes the dilution is kinda tricky but I think I've finally got it. Well I'll know tomorrow.
I've just finished the paste for a batch of gel this time. Not too much coconut 18%, and the rest... different soft oils. I've tried to combine oils with really good properties for helping dry skin. Thickening should be fairly easy with the borax solution seeing as I used very little coconut. I'm going to go 1:1 for the dilution water.
I'll post pics once I'm done... if it looks alright!!
MA.. that must have been a treat to watch Bekka make her LS!! I would have loved to see that!!!

If only you guys and gals knew... how many times that I boiled this down... added more water... boiled it down... Yikes... I fussed with this for a freaking month before I got it, but suffice to say... if I can do it... anyone can do it!! Believe me!!!
It's really not hard, once you know what your looking for.
Go for it Julie... you can do it!!!

Oh phew!!!!
I have a tendancy of going a tad strong on scents sometimes.. Between candle and soap nose.. I can't smell anything anymore!!!!
-
Oh my!!!!!:embarasse thank you ever so much for the lovely compliment Beth!!! I really do appreciate your wonderful comments!!
I just hope the scent isn't too too strong though.
I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you too, and I really really appreciate your help! The little goody bag was the very least I could do!!
Now.. I'm off to create some new recipes with my oils, then I soap!!!
-
Very, very nice!! Lovely colours!!!!

WOWOWOW Top!!!
Those soaps are absolutely beautiful. So professional looking. The swirls, the cuts.... everything just gorgeous!!!!
-
Hey... they're lookin good!!!
Very nice!!
They must be just wonderful with the goats milk in them!!!
Let us know how they look after sequester, as I'm really curious with the GM in there!!!
Way to go!!!
-
Welcome to the addiction!!!!
-
I don't understand. Glycerin doesn't nuetralize the caustic does it?
Glycerin aids in superfatting, and sequestering. It helps clear any clouding we might have
Borax, or citric acid is used to neutralize.
-
I never thought of superfatting Liquid Soap. Do you add the Glycerin during the dilution process?
Yes I do... after the dilution process is finished, as per instructions in Catherine Failors book.
-
Thanks Top!!! Yes it does work very, very well. A lovely lather, and most importantly not drying on the skin!!!
Thank you Grandma!! I use the soap calc at SummerBea at -10% but then I do superfat with Glycerin at the end. I'll give it another go for the bubble bath.
Thanks again everyone!! I really appreciate all of your kind comments!
-
Why thank you very very much Meridith!!!:embarasse What a lovely thing to say!!!!
Thank you!!!!
-
Hmmmm... this is the problem with Failors books.... she gives you hints but doesn't explain too clearly.
Well... I try something with it anyway.... and if I can do something decent I'll post..
Thanks Tara much appreciated!!!:highfive:
-
yyyyyyyeuup!! I'm referring to that one!! My "sequestering" jars... are half full with what looks like gunk which lathers very well btw.. and the other half is clear!!
Of course I imagine when Failor was talking about adding CP... they were very basic bars...
I'll put everything back in the pot, and see what I can do with it!!
-
Wowow... that is reallllllllllllllllly nice!!!
I can do two colours... barely, so I bow to anyone that can do more... and that well!!!!!
Congrats!!!!!
-
Thank you so much everyone!!! I really am pleased with my results. Now... if I can just get my currant batch as nice.....
Has anyone tried Failors recipe for making bubble bath by adding sodium soap????? As far as I can tell... it doesn't work!!!!
So it's back to the drawing board for that batch!!!
-
can I climb up on my flash point soap box now?
Well... you can climb up if you'd like, but unfortunately, last time I looked RA doesn't list their flash points!!
It's in the oven and I am keeping a very close watch on it though. So far so good and it's almost ready..
-
That is really pretty... and I'll bet it smells just fantastic!!!
Beautiful as always E!!!

Hi E,
Thank you for your response!!
I used .7oz per pound for the OHP.
When trying to do CP with this FO (Eternity from RA) it riced reallllllllllllllllly badly twice. I was using 1oz/pound and I had to rebatch both times.
So I figured I'd OHP it this time. I think I might of just not stirred in enough, as part of the bars were nicely scented, and some of the bars... hardly any scent at all. I think I was too anxious to get this in the mold while it was still workable.
I'm off to try this again!!
Thanks again E!! Much appreciated!!
Another attempt at swirls and a roll soap
