  1. Man, just steal my SOS suggestion! Is Bear on there anywhere? Of course it may not need an abbreviation
  2. Brambleberrys for candles is excellent. To die for is pretty good too but I heard they're getting out of FO biz
  3. Most good oils in soap are on the cheaper side. Lotions, creams, etc. use the more expensive oils. Too many of the good properties are killed by the lye in soap to waste them there, and it's impossible to know if youre getting as much good effect by using them or just wasting them. It's much better, for example, to use virgin coconut oil on your skin over fractionated...but in soap fractionated can be better (the same can be said for low grade versions of olive over virgin, etc) So getting a few basic cheap oils, then a fragrance, color, etc, isn't too much. M&P isn't that much cheaper, so it's not an expensive leap if you're wanting to enter the wonderful world of homemade soaping.
  4. Ive only ordered from her once but my experience went over just fine. It was very small, just for flower petals, so maybe this had something to do with it? Since then have found the prices slightly too much to bother
  5. I guess Ive just noticed more from the buyers end because that's what the people I usually talk to are, and not sellers. What I was referring to more with paypal protection, though, was some of the horror stories Ive seen heard, and had people I personally know - including boyfriend - experience. They can be very difficult to work with if things go wrong - there are exceptiosn to the rule of course. I think theyve gotten better now that they've been bought out by ebay though. Either way, sometimes its better to be safe than sorry and not give paypal permission to just go into your bank account at whim, whether it's hacked, etc, etc. Here's a few websites: http://www.paypalwarning.com/ http://www.aboutpaypal.org/
  6. I believe it's one and the same. Walmart didn't start carrying it until rather recently, so this could be why it didn't catch on as strong. Ive seen it mentioned. Also, some people are probably - like me - so used to buying in gallon sizes they don't think about it.
  7. Well my nose isn't that worldly. I tend not to smell 'notes' and it really irritates me. It could just be the ones you chose, though, or the supplier.
  8. Going to elaborate a bit more on the SOS Hemp smell. Had two more people try it last night - I dont tell them what it's supposed to be but want them to guess. Neither of them could and when I told them what it was supposed to be they said no way *I* can smell it a little but it doesn't seem like others really can, and some of them have a lot more...ahem...experience with the stuff than I do. I'll try a bit more, I think, in a larger amount, but otherwise would have to say to pass on this scent. Shame because of the price
  9. That would be angering. Sorry this has happened. People often post about positive experiences, but negatives can be just as important IMO
  10. Here is the full list of what is currently available: http://www.incenseoils.com/list.asp I believe they do keep restocking the more popular oils from the past observations and comments left by the webmaster, but yes sometimes once an oil is gone they don't choose to restock it. They make changes to it monthly I believe.
  11. It's pricey and time consuming but I enjoy doing things with polymer clay art. You can do figurines, beautiful jewerly, handmade "stone looking" candle holders, soap dishes, etc. But - sigh - PRICEY!!
  12. Yeah they're wonderful, a favorite of mine!! GREAT prices, great shipping, & of course customr service. They have an email discussion list worth checking out as well
  13. This is why I don't verify my account any longer with paypal. Ive learned from hearing so many horror stories never to let them just get money out of your bank account when they'd like. It's not only with being hacked, but bad sellers, and also paypal themselves at time. They offer sellers way more protection than buyers, that's for sure!
  14. Dang, I just BOUGHT Palm and Castor last night! How much for the RBO?
  15. Thanks for the replies guys! That's what I kind of figured but wondered. Just ordered 7 lbs of High Oleic Sunflower, gallon of Coconut and Palm, and a bunch of Castor to refill the dwindling oil supply. Planning to replace olive with the sunflower, way too pricey around here.
  16. Lotion tubes are a pain. Ive heard customers dont like the roll ups as much (mini deodorants) but I have those and will try and see when I start selling. I get them cheap and in whichever quantity wanted at Tammys with Essential bath and body. But even those Ive had trouble with as one shipment the caps wouldnt come off! She emailed me and said this was normal sometimes but you could tell that by the factory making they were a bit off. Never filled all of them and hope they don't cause problems. You wouldnt believe how ridiculous it was to try to get these things off!! Ah the wonderful world of lotion bar containers...wonder if I'm the only one who dwells over them that badly??
  17. Found the following recipe online, and it states that the milk enables more bars to be produced from the same batch. The only way I could figure this being so is if the milk somehow thickens the batch considerably. Anyone know this to be true? Here's the recipe, quoted with text: Soap V A traditional and blender soap combination. The fats are expensive, but milk allows for about 12 bars, vs. only 6 bars of the same recipe without milk. Pretty sneaky, hugh? 8 oz weight cocoa butter 5 oz weight palm oil 3 oz weight castor oil 2.2 oz weight lye (sodium hydroxide) 1 cup cold milk (I used 2% right from the frig) 1 cup water 1 tablespoon essential oil (I added 2 chamomile tea bags and 2 jasmine tea bags, dry) Fats: 100 degree range Lye/water/milk combination: 125 degree range Dissolve the lye in the water. Add all ingredients to the blender. Process about 30 seconds, or until the mixture looks smooth and a uniform color. It will not trace. Pour it into the molds (it won't separate, trust me)
  18. Yeast is generally caused by an imbalance in the acidopholus (sp) and good bacteria in the system. Yogurt is abundant in the good bacteria our body needs, hence the recommendation to eat yogurt while on antibiotics (as they destroy the good bacteria and promote yeast infections) That's why the yogurt "down there" works. Back on topic, I used goats milk last night and LOVE it! I am not sure whether its' from the goatsmilk or not, but the lather was amazing!!! VERY CREAMY. I also used yogurt and lard. Ive used the lard before but upped the percentage, it seems to make the HP smoother and less clumpy, not sure if this is coincidence with the few batches I've used it with. A first for the yogurt as well, but I have to say I like it
  19. I was thinking of trying to use this as a base oil in some new soap recipes, but wanted everyone's feedback. Is this oil that 'good' for soap, or is it kind of a waste to use it much in there? Any benefits to using this oil over others, personal experiences, etc? Thanks!
  20. Their Blueberry Blaze is a yummy, strengthy scent. Have yet to do in candles but did HP soap and had lasting results. Strong and sweet but not overpowering. Doesn't seem to be too multi-layered and complicated, more of a simple scent. Monkey Farts - I havent smelled others so cant compare but it's a very nice, fruity smell without being overbearing in the fruit department. Heard it did rice and accelerate in CP but no problems in HP (usually their isnt but sometimes..) Moonrose - definitely a rose smell....reminds me slightly of old lady's perfume though. All roses do. This one's very strong and actually smells quite nice, a defined scent for sure. If you're looking for a rose, this is a good one for that type, although with roses Ive never been overly fond of them in general. Lemongrass Sage - This one is a great, clean, wonderful smell. It's not strong on the lemon or sage but the blend is great and I loved using it in soap and B&B. Should do wonders in candles if the throw is strong enough. BUT it doesnt have a screaming lemongrass sage smell that I was looking for Ginger Lily - Not as good as Brambleberrys but whose is. Their price keeps me from getting it from them if I can find something comparable and this one is pretty darn close. his one is very good but different. A strong, clean smell. In soap it lasts well and can easily be smelled, a good complimently 'cleansing' blend. It did seize up CP a bit however, so would be better aimed toward hot process or careful manuevering. Mulberry Blaze - OOB it smells nice and strong with big whiffs. Not the greatest mulberry in the world, slightly fruity grapey perhaps, but a pleasing scent. Almost a little strawberryish. Apple Pie - Isnt the warm apple pie scent, but smells vry much like apples. A mix between green and red maybe. Divine but light, as in the typical apple smell. Warm Vanilla Sugar - OOB this ones lighter than JS's. It's a pleasant smell but I havent had a chance to try it in candles or soaps to see how much stronger it becomes and the lasting power. Warm and comforting type.
  21. Ive tried SOS's. To me it smells good and like it, but.... friend Melissa thought it did and dad too. Brother, boyfriend, and mother couldn't recognize it or think it did though Soooo not sure whether I should keep this one or try another
  22. Sarah's Spa Creations is also good for smaller quantities
  23. I havent personally used them but have been hearing about them from many for a long while, they're legit. THey have some good specials from time to time from what I see and seem to have a good following
  24. Looks great!! I loved the Chai Tea from JS OOB but it was a bit weak in the batch I tried. Didn't put enough in and my nose is horrid - need to order more! Great work
  25. I'm sorry the show went so badly, but I must say the display looks amazing, classy, creative, and professional at the same time. I can only hope that when my first show comes around - well, if - that it looks as nice!
