So far the Frankincense + Myrrh wowed me—I definitely want to play with it more and see how it does in C3. I think mainly I love it because I have been looking for that nostalgic “church” smell for a long time and this was it!
Smells exactly like a long discontinued GAP fragrance called “OM” and reminds me of having to sit through services as a child. I can see it being a very niche thing as it’s one of those very polarizing smells.

I smiled to you having memories of sitting through church services as a child. The first time I smelled

frankencence EO from Eden botanicals that was the first thing that came to my mind as well lol

thanks again, I really appreciate it

I honestly wish I had used something smokier than Fireside—maybe a touch of campfire or incense blend with the Frankincense + Myrrh. At 8% in 464 in a 9oz with a two week cure It didn’t fill my average sized bathroom as much as I would have liked. That may be a wicking error on my end—I’m experimenting with Premiers and I believe I used the 750 to start.

I like the Pink Peony + Nectarine ok but I don’t feel like I would buy it again. It’s a bit more perfumey and less botanical than I like. I also think the nectarine notes get lost in the blend. It reminds me of some of the high end hair care products I’ve bought in the past. It’s certainly not bad just not what I was looking for. I do like the Yuzu + Hinoki better (great throw in C3!) but it doesn’t blow me away enough to where I would be able to justify a bigger purchase.

The Palo Santo is very herbal and mildly earthy. It sort of reminds me of dried herbal tea with faint sweet grassy notes. I like that the Sage isn’t in your face. I haven’t put this in wax yet because I can’t think of what to pair it with. On its own I don’t think people would be throwing themselves at it—I think it might need something else to make it interesting. I’m thinking citrus or smoke—maybe a touch of shouldering patch.

Thank you so much ! Your answers

were super helpful. The FO's are so darn expensive! Unless I missed your earlier post , did any FO's

really made you go wow 😳

I just got the samples I ordered From them when they were doing their post holiday FO sale.

    I ordered:

    • FRANKINCENSE + MYRRH - 2 oz.
    • PINK PEONY + NECTARINE - 2 oz.
    • YUZU BLOSSOMS + HINOKI - 2 oz.
    • PALO SANTO + SAGE - 2 oz.
    • SAFFRON + TOBACCO - 2 oz.
    • WHITE SANDALWOOD + SMOKE - 2 oz.
    • LILAC + MIMOSA - 2 oz.
    • CASHMERE + VANILLA - 2 oz.
    • APPLE RIND + CINNAMON - 2 oz.
    • BLACKBERRY + SAFFRON - 2 oz.***

***They screwed up and gave me Rhubarb + Saffron instead of Blackberry + Saffron.
I’m a little annoyed because I hate the smell of rhubarb with the fire of a thousand suns but I can’t be arsed to formally complain either.

The only one I’ve put in my 464 wax is Frankincense + Myrrh  at 8% and It’s still curing. CT is weaker than I would have liked but I suspect it’s something on my end. It still smells amazing and reminds me of my favorite throwback perfume (Gap OM).

White Sandalwood + Smoke is literally the same thing as mixing at 50/50–CS’s Driftwood with Fireside.

Cashmere + Vanilla and Saffron + Tobacco are extremely light OOB.

I do like the modern florals that I got very much as well as the earthy Palo Santo and I’m excited to see how they behave in wax.

I wish I had CS Fireside so I could mix the 2 to see what it smells like :( Pink Peony + Nectarine sounds really nice, do you like it ? I know Paolo Santo is popular but I have no clue what it smells like, Can you please describe ?

That does not sound dishonest, if the bases do contain those ingredients. It depends on the inci. If the inci is such it will tell you it’s melt and pour versus cold process. Many shops on Etsy use bases and just add fragrances.

It is dishonest when only ingredients listed on body butter are shea - coconut oil and a few other base oils. Same for the soap . I guess it doesn't matter not sure why I even mentioned it

Thank you very much! :) & I don’t mind at all, ask away! So many oils.. I can’t stop testing them all.. Always more to try Lol!

Blueberry Cheesecake - I haven’t tried the one from Candle Science, sorry! But I can say everyone loves it and picks up both the blueberry & cheesecake notes! One of my favorite blueberry oils!!

Cherry Cookies - I’d say it’s a strong cherry almost amaretto (her White Cake oil is super amaretto scented) but yeah the Cherry note in Cherry Cookies is toned down a bit because of the cookies note..makes it creamier I’d say! You can always add Frosted Sugar Cookie and tone it down. It’s so good!

Count Chocula - Is very unique because it does have that cereal note to it so it’s a subtle chocolate. I’d say it’s one of my favorite chocolate scents for sure. But I use chocolate layer cake mainly, or fudge cake, just depends on the blend I’m going for! They really do have different notes like you really can smell the rich chocolate cake vs the fudge!

Frankenberry - A nice cereal note to it with strawberry. I love it!

Fruity Brute is more of a Cherry note!! With that classic cereal note. You could pull this one off in a fruity spring/summer blend because it can pass for non-bakery as well. Almost reminds me of those Luden’s cough drops.. I don’t mind that at all Lol!

Lemon Ice Box Cookies - Yep! It smells like a sweet lemon cookie! My go-to lemon oil for bakery blends.

Praline Pound Cake - It’s different from Caramelized Pralines from CS! I just smelled the two..and that’s exactly it, the ICS one has more of a pound cake note with a nutty smell.

Any other scent questions feel free to ask! :) Happy oil shopping! Lol

ICS Blueberry cheesecake is different than the one from CS. I prefer the one from CS. My daughter loves Scentsy Blueberry Cheesecake and said the CS one

smells exactly like Scentsy. I made was melts for her.

They can say the bath bombs use rose eo, many fragrances are blends with eos and fragrance oils.

And yes, many shops on Etsy do not have clue between the difference of fragrance oils and essential oils.

Yeah, its crazy ! I actually ordered a few things from a shop that is very successful and was surprised when I received my order. The soap was clearly melt and pour and the

scent was clearly WSP Rosemary fig and my body butter was very much a base, yet the ingredients stated were shea, CO etc. Thats a shame to me that some are dishonest

about this. I guess Im just naive.

It’s possible and I see this over and over with lots of beauty products. They combine fragrances with essential oils. They know products sell better with essential oils, the whole natural thing. Some companies are honest and mention the two blended but many just say essential oils. Marketing tool. And yes, Rose e.o. Is expensive. On Etsy people make all kinds of claims with their products. Most People wont know the differences. I see this with vanilla in all natural products. Vanilla is untouchable as well.

Speaking of rose, I’ve been using Rustic Essentuals Rose Geranium which is great! It smells more like rose e.o. Not Geranium. I’ve made wax melts and it smells Devine like Eden botanicals Rose e.o.

Thank you for your input. Ive read this about RE's Rose Geranium before. I think I might give it a try.

We all know that it is not economically possible to use real Rose EO in bath bombs & others unless it is high end perfume.  But, we also know that a lot of people does not know the difference of EO & FO.

This is true. But it still baffles me .

  9. I hope someone on here can help out or at clarify for me. All over Etsy etc I see people saying their bath bombs ( Wedding favor size) has Rose EO .

Some even say it's organic Rose EO. How is this possible ? Ive seen 10% diluted on Eden Botanicals, but even thats pricy . Whats everyones thoughts

    on this ?

I am not a scientist by trade. I DO study things IN DEPTH to get a proper handle on how to best use them and bend them to my purposes. CONTROL BABY!!!

I was studying to become a Dr. at one time and a lot of the skills I learned have been VERY useful to me over the years. e.g: I hunt wild edible mushrooms in Florida (yeah... there's a BUNCH of them), but I get asked to ID mushrooms that other people find too. I have a NICE binocular microscope with an oil immersion lens for helping me to identify mushrooms that I collect.(Still, I rarely have to break out the scope)

I think it just boils down to : I'm weird.

    idunno... (shrugs)

Weird is good ! And, depends on what your definition of weird is  lol ! You are funny though, I hand you that much.... Your CONTROL BABY answer lol !

I had no idea Florida had wild mushrooms . That might explain a few things LMAO !

If we take oil to mean the functional substance and not the molecular structure the 2 absolute fastest and best in my experience are Jojoba and Argan. The both have almost an identical molecular structure to human skin oil and as such they are properly esters.  Those 2 are the absolute best for skin "nourishment" and they are actually absorbed into the skin and hair, and they do so very rapidly also.

Also adding a little simethicone or dimethicone to a batch will be a huge help in providing a nice skin nourishment. If you need a little more glide to your lotion as Nightlight mentioned isopropyl myristate is THE nicest choice I can think of, BUT the simethicone or dimethicone will also give some glide to your formulation. Also one of the best non comedonal oils hasn't been mentioned yet is  Mineral Oil. There's a BIG reason why it's in ALL of the commercial products, and that's because it WORKS like magic. My beard lotion is like pretty much straight mineral oil these days with just a smidge of vitamin E (tocopherol).

ETA: Also a very nice deodorant I have used extensively is just straight old Dollar Tree non sweetened Milk of Magnesia. SUPER anti microbial and makes REALLY good fairly long lasting deodorant as well.  Also, for a little extra moisturization some sodium lactate is a very nice addition.

Oh wow really?  The Bear Claws FO that I have from ICS is always great!  I have ordered 2 bottles and both have been stellar in my parasoy wax blend.  How old is the one you have from them?

I think the oil I had was just getting old because it seems to be a favorite for a lot of people. The oil I really like from ICS is Wildberry Mouse .

I am actually ready for Christmas this year! I work well under pressure, and the holiday season sure is short this year! 😅 We are doing a door decorating contest at work, so that forced me to step up my holiday game. 😂

I have tried the the cinnamon bun from WSP and it was ok, and from ICS, which was very good. Aztec's just happens to be the one I went with for now. I do think that ICS really has excellent bakery FOs, and when I run out of this I will probably switch over to their Bearclaws or Cinn Strudel.

Egyptian Musk mixes well with anything that needs a little taming. I mix it with Dragon's Blood, it does great to tone down Aztec's Sultana (a great soap scent, btw, but super strong)... it's just great for softening pretty much anything that isn't bakery. 😁

Oh yeah, and Gail reminded me, I love Aztec's Bayside Marina! She recommended it to me, otherwise I never would have tried it. It is a warm salty fragrance with a hint of fruits and flowers warmed in the sun, but just barely discernible. I love it in palm wax, it is warm and clean.

I have ics bear claws and it smells so light OOB . Maybe the oil was getting old or it comes to life in wax ?

@Darbla  Let me just start by saying their FO’s are ASTOUNDING IMO!  I already buy from so many suppliers and didn’t want another supplier but ended up with some samples from a very good friend of mine.  I put them to the test and was completely blown away with their quality!  They are now in my top 3 suppliers!  And I buy from many suppliers.  😬

I too thought the Moonworks FO’s were dupes but they are not.  They are The “ORIGINAL MOONWORKS FRAGRANCE OILS”.  PFO BOUGHT MOONWORKS and they are now the only company to offer the ORIGINALS and they are far different than any dupes I have tried!  I absolutely love Morning sunrise it’s stellar and throws wonderfully in parasoy. I didn’t have trouble with it throwing at all.  Bella is one of my personal favorite FO’s EVER!  If you need any other suggestions LMK.  Their FO’s are like the magic secret to my wax!  Anything I make with their oils just blows my customers away and keeps them coming back for more!  💜

    Have you tried vanilla coconut

I've been toying around with lip balms for personal use.  Since I don't use much, I've done very small batches just to see what I can come up with that is suitable for me.  On my last round, I partially used coconut oil along with castor oil, but on previous tries, I only used castor oil.

For what it's worth, here is my VERY small batch recipe, which could probably still stand some improvement or changes ...

    1 t. beeswax

    1 t. candelilla wax

    1 T. castor oil

    1 T. 76 degree coconut oil

    Thank you ! I'll give it a try :)

That's EXACTLY where I started GMTA.

I just have ABSOLUTELY NO CONCEPT about what these products should or should NOT be like because I have NEVER used them. Chapstick is as close to a lipstick as I've ever used.

I feel like the first guy the American Government came to and said... "SO! We're going to the MOON, and YOU'RE the guy that's gonna make it happen!"

But  have something old rocket man DIDN'T have...

    YOUTUBE!
I'm SURE I can figure this out...
Well, I might be able to get SOMETHING usable out of my endeavors.

FIRST things FIRST! What goes into that stuff you girls pat onto yer beautiful lil faces? Mica, Oxides, I would THINK stearic acid... but what ELSE? If I can figure blush out lipsticks should be fairly straight forward... Blissful ignorance feels AN AWFUL LOT like HOPE!
