  1. Got mine this afternoon, but will have to wait until tomorrow to test, have to do laundry tonight (YUCK!). Can't wait to see how it does, though!
  2. Still nothing here... I'm waiting............... Patiently, I promise:wink2:
  3. Nothing here yet either, but there's still a possiblity for tonight... I'll just keep waiting patiently... I'll just decide what scents to use while I wait!
  4. Candlewic sent me a sample of this along with the CBL-141, which I use for pillars. I made my first container w/ the CBL-129, and I can see why it will work for votives and containers... I followed the instructions on the candlewic site to the "T", and here's what I can tell you: The scent throw is AMAZING!! It took color well, opaque and smooth. The wax shrunk a bit when it cooled, pulled completely away from the container so that I heard it rattle around in there a tiny tiny bit when I moved the jar. It burns well, seems to burn evenly. I have not tried it for a votive, but I can tell from making votives from the CBL-141 that it would probably work well. This wax reminds me of the -141 pillar blend, but in a container blend... Candlewic will send you a couple of 1-lb. samples of different waxes if you e-mail them... I got the CBL-129 when I requested a sample of the CBL-141. If I were to do paraffin containers, I would definitely use this wax! HTH,
  5. I just started playing around w/ Soy, got a few lbs of the 135 off the classifieds, I really like it so far... just ordered some more from Candles & Supplies in PA. Shipping was really reasonable. I got 20 lbs wax, some wicks, dyes, glass, shipping was only $10-$12. I think that's pretty good, anyway... The 135 does seem to frost, but I've had different results depending on the temp I pour at, I've been experimenting (I saw less frosting and smoother top @ 125* than at 110*). As I only do this as a hobby, I only like to work with one wax at a time, no comparison testing for this newbie! If I find that I'm unhappy, then I'll try something else, but I'm trying to stay with the "Use what I have" system, which is REALLY hard with fo's! I also know that C & S has their own blend, and Candlewic also in PA has soy as well...
  6. Thanks! I wish I could say he was mine, but he looks just like my little guy who won't stay still long enough for a pic like that. Here are my guys: (Zoe is the shepherd/lab mix, 8 years old in June, Rudy is the boxer, just turned 3 in Feb.) http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rachf19/detail?.dir=/6ea4re2&.dnm=6f03re2.jpg&.src=ph ETA: this was a couple of years ago, Zoe was probably 6, Rudy around 1.
  7. I got my catalog a couple weeks ago. I was surprised, but I agree that it's sometimes easier to look at stuff in a catalog rather than on the computer...
  8. Thanks again, Jason! Anything we should know about this wax? Any suggestions for pour temp? Don't want to screw this one up LOL...
  9. Also try www.labelsbythesheet.com I just ordered some sheets of different stuff from them last night, 1 sheet each of approx. 7 different labels to try. They have transparent matte and transparent shiny, etc... all different shapes and sizes... And the best part is that you can order just a sheet of each for under $1 to try them in person w/ your product!! Can you tell that I'm excited about the labels I've got coming? HTH,
  10. This is the only Yankme in my house, purchased long before I started making candles and realized that their candles are not worth the insane $$$... I love this scent! I have one sample from JS that smells dead on OOB, but I haven't put it in wax yet... HTH,
  11. I was either using measuring spoons or "eyeballing" it... The measuring spoons were fairly accurate, except when I was using "heavy" fo's... THEN, I bought a digital scale-- nothing fancy, just the one in WalMart (Good Cook's brand, less than $30) and IT'S A WHOLE NEW WORLD! Moral of the story is to get the digital scale... even the cheap one. It's toally worth it! JMHO,
  12. I recently got my first fo sampler from BCN, and I already ordered bigger bottles of the Vanilla Velvet and Green Apple. I just LOVE THEM!!! I also got a free sample of their Wild Watermelon, which I just used in a trio, and it smells GREAT! Their fo's are all awesome oob...
  13. Thank you for all of your input...They're done, and I think they came out great... Pics posted here: http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20237
  14. Thanks to all of you taking the time to make suggestions... I think I'm going to go with "Spring Fling"... I just couldn't get away from the Spring thing. LOL... Pics are posted here: http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20237
  15. After all of the assistance provided by the great people on this board (see posts http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20209 and http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20186) here are the finished results. The flowery one is for DH's grandma, vanilla buttercreme crunch for my mom, and the others for MIL and aunt. They are CB-135, almost perfect besides some wet spots (which are no big deal) and tops that need heat-gunning. Check them out: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rachf19/my_photos Thanks to everyone for their input yesterday... it's wonderful to have a group of people to bounce ideas off off and get validation from, esp. when DH just says "I don't know" to all candle questions! Let me know what you think!
  16. Completely NOT offended at all! I appreciate the honesty, and totally understand what you're saying. I was just thinkging "Spring___" because I made this one for my MIL and aunt, and another for DH's grandmother for Easter. The one for his grandmother is rose, vanilla, and hyacinth chula orchard and I named it "Spring Garden"... I'm really liking your Summer Slushy and Summer Spritzer suggestions, though! Thanks again for your honest opinion.
  17. I like this one... It does smell like a nice cocktail in my house right now, LOL:cheesy2: Edited to add: WOW-- I'm an "enigma" now! No more "wax drip"!
  18. I poured a three layer container blend using Wild Watermelon, Vanilla Velvet and Strawberry Margarita. I don't know what to name it... I want to use "Spring _________" Any ideas? TIA,
  19. Wonderful! More validation!!! What more could a girl ask for?!? I'm going light purple.lavendar b/c I think it's more "springy"...
  20. Thanks for the affirmation, Angela! I needed that... :highfive:
  21. What color for Hyacinth Chula Orchard? I'm making a 3-layer CB-135 container... Rose fo (pink), Vanilla Velvet (ivory) and HCO... Would a lavendar fit? I originally thought pink... I guess I could do the rose yellow, and the HCO pink... what do you guys think?
  22. OK... since I officially love to make containers now (LOL), I will eyeball it for now, and probably order the EX Wick thing next time I place an order... Thank you all, once again, for heping the newbie!
  23. From someone who's been there---- BE HAPPY!!!! Then, after they're over be scared of taking the bar exam. My whole summer was terrible that year... DH used to look over at me in bed sometimes and say "Who are you? I know I've got a wife, but I haven't seen her in a long time... Are you her?" LOL! Just know that there is an end!!!!! Edited to Add: By the way, I will be making some nice "spring-y" pillars for my in-laws for easter. Would have been CB-135 containers, but Candles & Supplies is out of stock until Monday...
  24. OK.... now I know I'm not the only one with the crooked eyeballs! Template it is! I must say, I'm loving my containers made with the CB-135... Mind you, I HAVE NOT tested wicks yet, so I may change my tune in a few days. Really easy to pour, the candles came out beautifully. Hardly any wet spots, no frosting, tiny cracks in the top, but I will cover them to cool next time... You all really are wonderful for helping a newbie!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
