  1. Ditto on the LX and HTP wicks. They work very nicely in this wax; I've tested them both extensively. I lean toward the LXs because I don't like the way the HTPs bend to one side, but it's really a matter of personal preference.
  2. Thanks for doing this testing; it's very interesting. I haven't had any sinkhole problems with the 70/30 and I wonder if it's the batch you got. You wouldn't happen to know if it's batch 3 or 4 that you are testing?
  3. This brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful tribute.
  4. I remember that post too (just so you won't think you're crazy). Every time I order from GL Brenda manually adjusts the shipping for me. Their online cart is wonky.
  5. In general with the GL 70/30 I've been waiting, just like one would for soy. Of course with some FOs you get immediate wonderful hot throw, but I try to wait at least a week for testing. And yes, it's hard to wait! With every WYW scent I've tried the longer I've waited the better the throw significantly. HTH.
  6. Here's how you do it (I'm using one of the URLs from your photobucket page as an example; hope you don't mind). 1. copy the url under the picture you want to display 2. Come to this board and make a new post 3. Press the button above that looks like a world with a link 4 Paste the URL in the box that comes up. The URL will appear in your post. 5. That's it! If you want the picture to appear here you have to adjust the size of your pictures because they are large. If you want I can tell you how to do that as well. Here is an example: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g69/TwinCandle/100_1340.jpg
  7. I completely agree with this statement. If her personality was so strong than she'd have imagination enough to come up with her own ideas, rather than stealing someone else's. What an absolute loser! Hugs to you. Have a nice cup of tea and come up with a completely unique, classy idea to sell in the salon. If she copies your new idea I would confront her, strong personality or not. Also, maybe you should think about using words like 'original' and 'unique' on your labels, to distinguish them from her junky ole' candles? My mom's neighbor used to do this same thing: my mom would plant purple flowers and the neighbor planted the same ones. My mom got a new garage door and within a week the neighbor did the same. My mom planted a rose bush and guess what happened within a few days? My mom was really angry about it until another neighbor came along and said in hearing of the copying neighbor, "Oh Rosa, you have such original ideas that people are copying you!" People usually are aware who has an original idea, and they have very little respect for the person who is the copier. I'm sure the quality of your candles stands out as well.
  8. LMAO...in this thread I asked for help in finding a crawfish boil FO. Well special thanks to Mike (highflier) who turned me on to Taylored Concepts. I know that a couple of people were looking for crab/crawfish boil FOs and Taylored Concepts has them. You have to call; the FOs are not yet listed on the website. I got the Crawfish Boil FO today and boy does it stink perfectly! Smells a little more peppery than real crawfish boil, but certainly good enough for the person who requested it. Now I think I'm going to go put a clothespin on my nose and pour it!
  9. Your marbles are so impressive. You're going to have to give me some tips.
  10. Awww Brenda I'm so sorry your experience wasn't all you anticipated. I will say that your tables look fabulous! And I love your products (as you know). I just got finished slathering my body with Brown Sugar and Fig body butter. Yum yum yum.
  11. Pouring 100 candles and boxing them isn't as fun as it may sound. Anyway, here are the candles I poured for my wedding favors. Sorry the picture quality is so poor; I'm pretty bad at taking pictures. Edited to add: these are scented White Tea and Ginger and made with GL 70/30.
  12. Wow, I just noticed this reply! Thanks Mike!!!
  13. You rock so hard! Thanks for those links!
  14. I like HTPs a lot in 70/30. I think they really help the scent throw. The only thing I don't like is they tend to curl toward one side or the other, so if they aren't centered carefully you can have hang-up on one side of the candle.
  15. That's amazing! I'll bet you're so proud. And you should be!
  16. I agree. Even if you decide against the 70/30 (which I love) you'll be blown away with the customer service. I really like Greenleaf a lot.
  17. There are about a million places you can get wax from, but I don't know very much about the West Coast (I'm in the South). Here are a few suggestions: www.cierracandles.com www.candlescience.com www.greenleafcandles.com www.candlewic.com I hope that helps!
  18. One of my worst blunders was a dangerous one, but fortunately no one got hurt. I left a pot of wax on the stove and forgot about it completely. My fiance went into the kitchen for a snack and found some majorly scorched wax. Our house smelled like burned lavender all day. Since then I've become really paranoid about wax on the stove and I stand there staring at it until it's ready to pour.
  19. Is there an applause emoticon? I agree with everything you said. The email to a customer was bad enough, but coming on the board to justify it was tacky in the extreme. Customer service is so important, but it seems to be a dead art.
  20. I've bought all sorts of things from them. They are very reliable and have good customer service.
  21. I love those creamy brown marbles. I think they look great.
  22. My lovely fiance just bought me one of those guns you can point at the wax and it tells the temperature. I'm going to make some candles right now!!!!
  23. Really? I've made tons of square pillars and my corners never fall into the pool. I don't see how they possibly could. My square pillars burn straight down the middle. The MP gets close to the edge, so there is a nice glow all the way down, like stained glass. Does anyone else have corners that fall into the pool?
