  1. the only lotion calc i've seen is http://recipes.herbalsoapsbyrj.com/calculators/lotion-calculator.php
  2. I think you can find them, just look around! Some stores have more canning supplies than others. You probably could find them online some where for sure!
  3. I meant freeze the milk! Sorry I didn't make myself clear ( I think too fast sometimes! ) I always freeze my soap but I do CPHP and I want it to cool down faster!
  4. cranberry lane has shortening on the list
  5. thats my take on the milk in soaps........if you're using 4 oz of milk you subtract 4 oz of the water, and I've read to freeze the soap to keep it from curdling. Just to be forewarned, every soap I've made with milk turns BROWN. Good luck and have fun!
  6. I LOVE THE STICK BLENDER! Couldn't make soap with out it! I just don't have th patience! But with whipped soap (which I love too) I use the hand held blender, have to or it wouldn't work:D
  7. When would it tell you that it was out of stock? I just added a case to my cart just to see if it would say they were out and it didn't? Or do you go through all of the check out before it tells you? IF it says right away.........then maybe they're back?
  8. No, i've never tried peppermint oil there, but SHOULD I? We have used PEPPERMINT candy in bed, I won't elaborate....but it was interesting....is the oil MORE interesting?
  9. Yes it will get harder after time. Did you have fun?
  10. I made some of those maxi pad slippers a few years ago! ( I think I was 18) Everyone liked them lol!
  11. I just CPHPed a shampoo bar 2 days ago and my mom loved it and it didn't leave my hear feeling greasy like my other try . I'll give you what I used....do what you want to it! (and I'm no good with percentages! I'm giving it in ounces:undecided ) .5 oz shea butter, 1 oz sweet almond, 9 oz coconut oil, 9 oz castor, 10.9 oz olive (ran out at that!) 1.5 oz jojoba With the fragrance I added a little bit of vit E oil. I used it as a bar and my hair felt great! My mom wanted it liquid so I cut the soap into chunks put some water in it (enough to cover the soap) added a little more jojoba, and about 1/2 a tsp of vegetable glycerine. hope this helps
  12. Don't worry I'm sure TONS of people have wrote it down to experiement (I have, just have to get ingredients). YOU SAID YOU DIDN"T WANT TO KNOW! I dont know if i'll give it to anyone.....but I'll definately try it out for myself......5 year anniversary coming up and thats definatley cheaper then going to one of these sex shops around here!
  13. I could tell what they wre so they can't be that bad! I think they're cute!
  14. I've seen melt N pour kits all over at the craft stores here, but there are kits to look for if you go to the big candle/bb companies. I'll get a couple links and update this in a min! http://ca.store.yahoo.com/cranberrylane/soapmakingkits.html http://www.brambleberry.com/kits.html http://www.soapmaking.com/soapkit.htm here's a couple, but if you go to google.com and search for soapmaking kits, you'll get quite a few more! I just went around town until I found everything I needed. I'm sure others will respond with more advice, these people on this board are great!
  15. Honestly I think that it just didn't cook long enough. Mine always goes kind transparent and jelly like when its done. Next time will be better! I think I just found another problem! I ran it through 2 calculators and one said 4.something ounces of water and the other said 5.28oz of water. I'm not sure how much of an effect that would make, but I think it would at least need extra time to cook off! Hopefully someone will jump in here and let us know!
  16. could you lower the coconut and put some beeswax?
  17. My first try at HP did not follow the tutorial at all! so dont be surpised if yours doesn't either. I'm assuming that the other mixer would work, just be careful not to splash yourself. It takes time, but it will work. I always have my crockpot on high and beat it to trace and let it do its thing. You can IM me if you have any questions. or i'll check back to see if you've posted, i'm just about to start a batch myself
  18. HI, i'm trying to download AIM to talk to you, I'm also on Yahoo as younggrasshper, I might be IMing you in a minute if it works!
  19. I've found it in a couple of Walmarts in plastic dispensers hooked to the end of the isles. Its in a yellow push up tube and it is 1 oz for $0.97.
  20. I used this and you have to make sure when doing HP that you dont let it get too hot. I put it in right before adding the lye because when I put it in the melting oils it seemed that this oil got too hot and everything separated later. It did work eventually, I had to cool everything down and restart cooking. When getting the lye amounts, in the lye calculators I put 90% soybean and 10 olive. Good luck!
  21. have you checked http://www.soaperschoice.com/
  22. Mine always looks like that, and after it cools it turns white, sooooo my guess is that for some reason that spot is cooling faster? I usually stick mine in the freezer for a while to quit the cooking because I KNOW i cook it long enough as it is! but from what I can tell yours has turned out! I couldn't follow the tutorials very closely because my soap looked completely different from the entire tutorials.........I don't have titanium dioxide so it seemed like I was doing something wrong but I'm pretty sure I've gotten it all down! It isn't so difficult is it?
  23. I made a solid perfume and lipbalm from a recipe I found somewhere??? I don't remember where I got it but it was basically 3 parts (oz?) castor oil 1 part beeswax like 20 drops coconut oil and flavor oil for lip balm or fragrance oil for solid perfume My mom and sisters really liked this, I chose it because it was extremely simple and I didn't want to spend a lot of time on it, I was just looking for something to throw into their gift baskets for Christmas. since i'm new to all of this I was grateful to find something so easy and cheap!
  24. lol, no but thats what I get for jumping into things with out completely researching everything. i just made them for myself and wasn't planning on burning them ( I was going to get the battery operated tealight candles for them) but my husband burned one with out me knowing and melted it. it didnt go anywhere just misformed. I've since found new molds but i'm out of wax. I'm just using parafin for them, and I dont plan on ever selling them.
