  1. Has anyone ever really talked to there store manager? I did see mine one time heading out of his office & just in passing asked him if I wanted these jars in larger quanitities would he be able to order 3 or 4 cases for me. ( I had bought a couple of containers just to play with) Now this was just in passing & I haven't really taken him up on it but at the time he said sure. Like I said I don't really know if it's true or not but I would think if you told a store manager you needed a couple of cases of a certain container he'd be more than happy to order it for you. (he'd make money & you still save a ton on shipping & such) just wondering, Karen B
  2. Since you have such a problem in Italy getting FO. (Oh btw can I visit, I'll bring FO's with me) Try using mineral oil, there is probably another name for it in your country but I'm sorry I don't know what else to call it. The candle will be unscented but it gives you a chance to *play* with the wax & get an idea without having to waist the FO. Karen B
  3. Well along with topofmurrayhill's sugestions, I'd also like to make sure you aren't using to much FO. You should usually start with 1oz of FO per lb (by weight) of wax. You can go up as much as 1.5oz per lb of wax but no more than that or you'll get a black smokey candle. I agree with the other suggestions you may need to wick down a size. Karen B
  4. Hey Tucker the easiest way I've found to get the water out of the wax (oh wait not that I've done this, um hm it was a friend of mine yep that's it a friend I know did this once ) Pour the wax into a container (or a cookie sheet) let it totally set up. Since wax & water don't mix the wax will be on top & the water will all be at the bottom. Just grab a paper towel & dry off the bottom a little more & your all set to try those gosh darned hurricane's again. This works very well & will get all the water out trust me. One time when getting my pillar into a waterbath DH decided to "help" me. (it was the last time he ever "helped" me with my candles) He got so much water into the pillar when I shook it you could hear the slushing of the water right in the middle of the candle. If it worked for that pillar it should work for yours too. Karen B
  5. I've heard that the box the "real" Nag Champa comes in is white with red letters so I've made them red. (OK so you didn't want that color) but it also says "nature" to me, (yes after sniffing FO for a while they will talk to you) so I have also made them a light brown/tan color. Karen B
  6. ugghhhh, ignore me I was responding to the wrong post. Karen B
  7. Hi I use them & really love them. 625 for votives & 2 635's for apothecary's. 665 is what I use in my Balmoral jars. I use a stragiht paraffin for my containers & use my own additives so someone using a one pour will probably have different results. I just love the small flame. Karen
  8. Oh BTW just wanted to help too. If you haven't thrown out the wax yet try pouring the wax on a cookie sheet & let it set up there. If its container wax maybe put some wax paper under it. the wax & the water/milk should all seperate. I have a "friend" that maybe might have gotten some water in her wax trying to get the pillar in her water bath. In order to salvage the wax that's what "she" did. :tiptoe: Just remember it wasn't **ME** really it was a "friend" Karen B ( who doesn't do waterbaths for her pillars anymore)
  9. goosebay I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear what happened to your DH. Mine is also type 1 & on a pump too. (just got a new Minimed) Please don't beat yourself up about what happened, I do that all the time. One time DH's sugar was low while he was sleeping he was snoring up a storm really bad. I was so mad at him because he wouldn't stop snoring that I went downstairs to get some sleep. It wasn't until he stoped snoring (I could still hear him downstairs) that I realized his sugar might be low. By that time I had to call 911 & felt like the worst wife that ever lived. You know the old saying do as I say not as I do, so don't blame yourself OK. I love my DH to death but of all his fault the only one I would change if I could would be to give him a working pancreas. I'm glad your DH is doing better, give him a big hug then if he's up to laughing & being teased about it give him a small punch in the arm for me & tell him **I** said check your blood sugar more. (only if he's up to laughing about it though) I hope he's doing OK, oh & btw just incase we didn't have enough in common my kids are 10,(DS) 4,(DD the princess of the family) and 2(DS) Karen B
