I just poured the Elk Sweat yesterday...I will be testing it next week in a soy/palm mix
-
I poured 2 testers yesterday of soy/palm 85/15. I lit the one up this morning cause I know the scent rocks in the 464 anyway so I am just testing wick/jar combo.
The other one is the Elf Sweat from NG...that one I will light up next week sometime.
I also poured a 100% Palm....so pretty....and I will wait till next friday to light that one....based on Stella's advise.
The two soy/palm ones were rough looking...maybe I poured too hot or not hot enough...but the heat gun smoothed everything out so it was good.
I colored both the soy/palm candles and have good adhesion and no frosting...both of which I dont care about anyway. All my customers want is a ROCKEN candle. One lady told me it could look like something the cat puked up and she would not care as long as it smelled good!!

I used Ky's straight when I first started making candles....way back when...Coffee just didnt sell for me...but yes it is a WONDERFUL mixer too!!

It turned out real pretty. I am gonna snap a pic...but I have to get pics off my hard drive on the computer....it is full and the camera wont download...or the camera took a crap...not sure which.
Yes, I used the heat gun on the buggers!! it smoothed out real good. I will put it away for a week then...dont know how i am gonna wait a week!! I am excited to see how it is gonna do.
Thanks for the advice Stella...as always you are a sweetheart!

OK...I did wreck it several times...was kinda neat. Thanks!
How long to wait to test burn?

KY's ROCKS....at least it did when I used KY125...I dont do coffee scents anymore...they dont sell here.

and didnt really find any good answers. I finally got around to playing with the GG palm I have had under the bed for 8 months...anyway...I heated the jar with the heat gun and heated the wax to over 200 and then added FO (cucumber lavender sage CS) and a little dye chip. I am using a 9oz dodgon (sp?) jar and CSN 12 wick. I poured at about 200 and then waited for it to set up and then wrecked the top a few times as it was setting up....
my question....do I HAVE to wreck the tops on the container wax of is that just for pillers?? I didnt see any air bubbles but that aint sayen they were not there...

Yes candlelady that is them...I just ordered jars from them this morning.
within 3 hours I had a UPS shipping quote and they will be here in 2 days!! I am gonna check out some FO's too as soon as my friend lets me know which ones rock in the 464!!:smiley2:

Thanks for the suggestions.....may have to try that. I have palm wax here though and would have to order palm oil...so I am gonna try the wax first.
-
Well NG's is NOT EVEN CLOSE!! Theirs smells like pine...

Yes candlelady that is them...I just ordered jars from them this morning.

Peaks Spruce tree OR KY's Christmas Past....If you want traditional pine then go KY's....Peaks smells dead on like a Oregon forest....lots of Spruce!! I use both of them and they are both GREAT mixers too!!
-
I always like to try to buy from someone on CT that I KNOW has been making them for a while...there are too many people out there who buy wax, jars, and wicks and BAM they are in biz and selling.
-
Thank you Richard...I am going to use the Glass Glow and do a small amount at first...just to see what it does.
I like the 464 with a little paraffin mixed in...so if I can get that great HT and CT with the Palm that would be nice....
I have CD wicks I am gonna try. I also have some CSN wicks from CS cause I was gonna try pouring a few just GG and see how they turn out....wrecking the tops sounds like such FUN!!:smiley2:
-
I think I'll start with a 20% palm and see how it goes...should be interesting. :smiley2:
-
I didnt want to hijack Richards thread so I'll ask here....anyone mixing palm with the 464??
If so what improvments to the 464 are you seeing by doing this??
I have some palm to play with and some 464 on the way...may have to test the mix....:smiley2:
-
I thought Stella makes Palm too....??
-
I never thought about mixing palm with the 464...are you mixing a small amount of Palm or are you mixing a large amount of Palm in the 464?? I am mixing paraffin in mine right now...but if I go palm I am back to all natural wax...

The only thing I see that is missing is the
"Keep out of reach of children and pets"

Never heard of a tart being too strong...how much FO did you use...which FO did you use??

Thanks! I think I agree. I think the 16 is burning a little too hot. I'll test them both to the end. I'm curious how much the 16 will change as it burns down... I wonder how some can get a full melt pool by the 2nd or 3rd burn and still not be too hot by the end of the candle? Hmmm...thoughts to ponder...
90% of the time the candle is too hot at the end....they just dont admit it...:lipsrseal
