  1. When you are testing for wicks you can usually test after the candle cools. If you are testing scent throw 24 hours has been good for me, Although some scents can take longer and all soy candles smell better after a few days to a week curing. I figure it like this, If I can smell it in 24 hours then it can only get better with time!! Patricia
  2. I know that unless, like you said, you add alot of color chips you will only get pastel colors. Try the EVO liquid drops and see if you like that for color. I have been using the liquid dyes from Northstar and I like them but they are thick BUT they dont stink. Soy will not, as far as I know, take color like paraffin. Also you will not get the perfect creamy look of paraffin either. But I like the soy because of it being "natural" and my customers dont seem to mind the different look. I am going to introduce the para/soy blend in the fall for the scents that soy does not like. I am going to use the CB30 from Swans. They will send you a nice free sample to test and I was impressed. I liked Greenleafs BUT shipping is to high and wait time 4-5 days UPS is to long. Patricia
  3. I got mine yesterday too. I got the frosted 8oz and the bigger jar which is 14oz I think the web site says, The bigger jar looks BIG to me compared to my 9oz hex jars i am using now. I am going to test these over the weekend. I am just not sure which wick to use yet. Patricia
  4. Also If you are pouring in tins do you have to use color. I dont color my wax that goes in the tins. I know that color has alot to do with frosting. I pour mine at around 100-110 and have not had any problems with frosting or wet spots. But I color VERY FEW of my candles. Patricia
  5. Greenleaf has a lavender that has some of the EO mixed in it. It is really good. I use it and KY's vanilla to make my own lav vanilla. Patricia
  6. My vote for Peaks Too!! Maybe I need to become a supplier for those of us on the West coast....hmmm Patricia
  7. KY or Peaks, both smell the same to me. Either one is strong and smells like the real thing. Patricia
  8. KY's coffee is a good one too. It will work in paraffin as well as soy. Patricia
  9. I have only been testing the ECO's but I'd say a 10 or 12 maybe. I gave up on wicking the tins with the 125. I sell them as "wickless" candles now. I think my HTP105's did OK in those with the KY125. Patricia
  10. Take a look up on the veggie board and there is a sticky for scents for soy. You can use that as a guide line when ordering scents. For me KY's Southern Vanilla ROCKS. Patricia
  11. I use the Solo cups right now, but want to switch to the 1.5oz hex jars soon. Patricia
  12. How does one train ones customers to TRIM wicks??
  13. Here are my results... the ECO 10 did good in my jar and cleaned the sides all the way down. The RRD47 was OK too but need to be trimmed a few times, but not everytime. Scent throw is about the same from what I can tell. after my fundraisers I am going to test more and make my decision before my next BIG order goes out. I asked for the 464 but it has not came yet.....so maybe jason didnt send me any:undecided . I am also testing the CB30 from Swans and I LOVE this parasoy mix. I am going to use it for SOME scents. Patricia
  14. I dont know as there is a cut and dry answer to your question. Best thing you can do is first find suppliers that are near you, to cut shipping costs. Order some wax to test. Whatever supplier you choose should carry scents and wicks order samples of those too. Most jar suppliers will send out samples too. Then TEST TEST TEST and TEST some more. If you stick with it you will fond a combo that works for you. HTH Patricia
  15. Same here...I talked a couple of women in the DOLLAR TREE of all places into my candles! Right now I am trying to convince a private school to use my candles in their next fundraiser....they are being stubborn!! I have only talked to them on the phone so far. But I am going to take some in to the office next week:D . Patricia
