  1. This is for a baby shower - my customer wanted something that wasn't too baby-ish, so I did these baskets with the flower pinwheel, 6 pastel votives and one flower pillar all scented baby powder. She loved 'em, and I'm so glad she did. Hope you all like them too!
  2. Recently, I purchased some LX12 wicks from Twigs & Berries, only because they are near to me in Michigan and I thought I'd try a few of their scents. Well, anyway, as soon as I saw the bag of LX12 wicks I new something wasn't right! They are WAY too big, but I thought well I'll give them a try. So I tested two votive candles, one with my LX12 from BC and the other from T&B and wouldn't you know the one from T&B melted the candle almost 2 times faster then the other from BC! Live and Learn as the saying goes! I will always by my wicks from BC. These others I will save for my chunk votives. I guess my message is to the newbies on the board is once you find a supplier that is tried and true - don't settle for something else just to save a few pennies! Now, I'm off to order some LX12's from BC!
  3. I couldn't agree more with Candleman! After months of testing and loss of my hair, these palms absolutely have to be wicked down to get the "lantern" effect AND not have a blow out!
  4. First I think they look great! I love the colors! And I agree, it's the way they were cooled or even the temp when they were poured - anyway - I like them!
  5. I was just getting ready to buy my bags from papermart that I use to put my customer's goods in and was just curious what some of you use? I usually get a gift bag that has something sort of design or check print on it, although I do like the gingham sacks too! Thanks for sharing
  6. This may be a stupid question, but are the electric grubby hurricanes scented and does the light bulb warm it enough to throw the scent? Thanks
  7. Wanna know what I think? I think they look fantastic! Very professional!
  8. Let me be the first to say that "I'm an idiot!":embarasse I guess I have been working on this stuff for too long! True my packaging is .55 my cost, but I was somehow doubling my fo cost! I'm sorry everyone, and THANK YOU all for coming to my rescue! I need a vacation - real soon - maybe a BAHAMA-VENTION is in order here! I'm gonna go kick myself now on my way to bed! Thanks again everyone - you are all so great!
  9. Stupid? NO! Tastey looking? Absolutely! I really like it and your idea. Please let us know how it works out for ya. Good luck.
  10. Those are some fantastic colors! Great job!
  11. Ok, I have finally gotten around to refiguring all of my costs for all of the different types of candles I make. I make candles because I love doing it and it pleases me when clients tell me that they love my candles. I'm not really in it for the money - but I can't give these things away either (which is something I do a lot of anyway!) Well, it looks to me, after figuring everything out again that the cost of one complete votive with packaging is going to cost ME about $2.60! Just for one! Anyway, I thought I might ask all of you what you sell your votives for and where you're from. I have researched this for a while now (about 3 days) and have found various prices across the country. Here in Michigan it seems the average price for one votive is $3.00. I'm just not sure if I should go on with this fabulous hobby/lifestyle/addiction or not. Please convince me to keep making candles. It won't be hard. Thanks everyone
  12. Thanks everyone for all of your responses! I normally always figure the shipping cost into everything I make too. I just HATE to have to raise my prices for my candles. All of my clients LOVE all of the different candles I make - I just hope they love 'em enough to pay a little more now. Thanks again everyone!
  13. into the cost of their candles? For instance, say you bought everything you needed to make some votive candles. Along with charging for all the stuff you need to make and package them do you also add in the shipping charges you paid to have everything shipped to you? This has always stumped me, but since the recent jump in shipping charges and wax prices, I'm not sure if I should figure it in or not. Thanks for any feedback.
  14. I've been using BC since I started making candles. Wax, wick, and FO's are all great and so is customer service! You can't go wrong here! HTH and good luck!
  15. Thanks for sharing that website! She does some really nice work for very little money!
  16. Thanks so much everyone! I will look into all of your suggestions!
  17. Hi Everyone and Happy Holidays! I am looking for a plastic tray that holds 12 votive candles. I used to use the tray from BC that held 9, but most of my clients order a dozen at a time and I want my packaging to look professional! Besides Bellaroma (they have a order min.) is there somewhere any of you might be able to direct me to? Thanks for any help - I'm starting to get frustrated!
  18. I love your first pic! The container is very pretty and vintage! Does it say "Hull" or "Weller" on the bottom?
  19. You know you can't show me a palm pillar without me saying "Gorgeous!" I love this wax! Nice work.
  20. Those are gorgeous! I'm still trying - like you said, trying to get the cup to stay in place takes such patience, but I intend to make these! Thanks for sharing your pics.
