  1. I just saw these at my local Wal-Mart a couple of days ago. They were on sale, but I didn't get any. They do look nice though. I've never seen any that large before.
  2. Wow, that's adorable! I don't even want to imagine the amout of time and intricate carving that involves! Meep! I get a headache just thinking about it. *lol*
  3. You're gonna think I'm crazy, but honestly... soybean. I made a lotion with 100% soybean, and it was actually very nice. I like AKO as well, but it's more costly. FCO is also great and a bit lighter, but again, costly. So yep, my favorite is soybean. I like peanut oil too, and I believe it has sort of a built in sunscreen effect. I can't tell a difference between my soybean lotion and the AKO lotion. But then again, I'm not really a lotion person. They all feel greasy to me, even with FCO.
  4. The beeswax or ewax is probably too high. I don't know for sure though, because I've never used beeswax in a lotion. Seems like it would leave a waxy feel... ? I wouldn't water it down or heat it. Both of those things could detroy your preservation system. Personally, I'd just use it as a cream.
  5. I've seen some very nice HP soaps from people on here, but they all have somewhat of a "textured" look. That's just the way HP is. *lol* That's why I make CP soap now. No matter what I did, I just couldn't make HP pretty. Here's a couple of my HP experiences (it's ugly, I warn you) http://oneflameremains.com/iedit/berriesbuttercreamsoap.jpg http://oneflameremains.com/iedit/fruitslicessoap.jpg
  6. I've been looking at a couple of lotion bar recipes. It seems most recipes call for a huge percentage of FO. I've seen anywhere from 10% to 25%. Is that really safe? Just seems unusually high to me, since I use 1% in every other B&B product.
  7. CPHP is funny like that. You don't necessarily see every step. I know I didn't. Mine never seperated like in the tutorial. I've made 4 batches of HP, and I don't think a single one followed all the steps. About it being dry, I think that is just the nature of HP. Most of the water cooks out and evaporates. Just do the tongue test, and if you don't get zapped, it's fine.
  8. Does anybody know where to find these jars? I'm beginning to wonder if maybe they were discontinued... Both suppliers I've found for them are out of stock or unavailable.
  9. Indiana Candle Supply has an orange chiffron cake. I haven't tried it yet though.
  10. Yeah, I checked at Silky Tyme. Their betta's look weird though. Comparison- Rustic Essentials: SilkyTyme: I e-mailed gelsupplies.net about their missing pictures, so hopefully, they'll be back up soon.
  11. I'm thinking of making some double glassed gel candles, and I want to use paraffin tealights in them. Are there any small cheap tealight holders out there? It would only need to be slightly larger than the tealight cups themselves. I found these, but they're much more expensive than what I was looking for: http://candles.genwax.com/candles/___0___P0531473.htm
  12. That sucks so bad!!! They have some of the best looking fish embeds I've found. I looked at gelsupplies.net and they seem to carry some of the same things, at least they're named the same, but I can't tell for sure. All their pictures are down. :undecided
  13. Yeah, I saw that one. *lol* It is, erm... unique. The one I'm looking for was cute, and slim.
  14. Has anyone ever seen a two piece mold for rat pillars? I could have sworn I saw one before, but I can't find anything but mice now. Am I going crazy or what? The one I saw was a standing rat, I believe. Not a mouse.
  15. Yeah. So many people rave about them, and it's so nice to know how each FO performs in soap. I think I'll just "bite the bullet" and get 4 oz. of the LLC. I think I'll get some of their just ripe banana as well. I have never found a true banana scent, so I have my fingers crossed on this one. Also gotta try the cucumber lettuce. I'm on the hunt for a true cucumber scent too.
  16. I'm dying to try some of the SW scents, but I just can't get past the prices... $8-$10 for 4 ounces. Ouch. ICS has spoiled me. I'm used to $4 for 4 ounces.
  17. LOL! I almost always make one at a time. I do 4 oz. JJ's, so my batch size is usually 2 oz. of wax and 0.15 oz FO.
  18. I saw these soaps on Mystify Your Senses, and I love the shape of these bars. Anybody have any idea what you would use to make a log mold that will make soap shaped like this?
  19. Did a burn test. This is only after a 2.5 hour burn though, since my BF said to put them out because they smell awful. *lol* The tops are pretty ugly on both, but the 449 is worse. I'm going to do a 4 hour burn, and see how that goes. These are wicked with LX-16's, by the way. Edit: Just did the 4 hour burn, and they tunneled. LX-16 is the largest size wicks I have right now, so I'll have to wait to do any more testing.
  20. 4 oz JJ - 444 wax. Heated to 180 degrees, added 7.5% FO, poured at 135 degrees 4 oz JJ - 449 wax. Heated to 180 degrees, added 7.5% FO, poured at 165 degrees FO used was Just Scent Creme de la Creme, no color used. The 449 has the best throw, so far. There's no cold throw from the 444 yet, but the 449 smells awesome already. Also, the 444 is quite a bit darker in color. I'll post some pics later. I'm not really liking the 444. Neither have any major sink holes or cracks. Slight shrinkage around the wick, but that's minor. The tops aren't perfect, but I didn't expect them to be. I e-mailed Candle Science to see if they can start carrying the 449. I'd hate to have to buy it from Peaks, considering they're on the other side of the country. Shipping isn't cheap... Edited to add pics. Also, the cold throw on the 444 is improving, but the 449 is still best.
  21. Same here. Hated it the first time I used it. It's kinda growing on me, but I still think it's a little too strong.
  22. That could very well be true, Carol. She sounded quite confused when I called, and didn't speak very good English. Perhaps she was new? Anyway, I didn't receive a call back this evening, so I guess I can assume all is well. But then again, someone else said they have stopped sending samples know. I just wonder if they will honor previous requests.
  23. I'm confused now. *lol* 0.1 is one tenth. 0.2 is 2 tenths (or 1/5). 0.8 would be 8 tenths (or 4/5), if you want to break it down.
