  1. At least I have the wax issue under control. I stuck with my original wax and then started working with FO's and wicks. I have had tons of trouble with wicking until and was never completely happy with the burns. Then I got my sample box from wickit and it has made a huge difference. I have had even better scent throws with scents that I thought were so-so.
  2. Has anyone used either of these products in their soy? I am considering purchasing one or the other? Are they similar and do they really help with the frosting?
  3. I know testing is the necessary evil and I skip this essential step. I have had containers crack before and votives get way to hot in the holder. I think the real issue is that 2 of my 3 kids will not leave me alone for 30 seconds! On top of washing clothes and cleaning on the weekends. Anyway, enough complaining and get back to work on my candles.
  4. I am so tired of testing right now...I just need to vent it out. Things are going well. I changed all of my wicking to the Premier 700 series and have been starting to make colored soy again with the pryme dyes. I have 6 of my regular line left to test and then I can start testing new scents again. My hubby has been complaining 'cuz our house "smells worse than the Y**me store at the mall". He has been very supportive during all of this but I think the testing is getting the best of him. Plus he is working on our new and improved website for the candles. Sorry so long...just needed to vent.
  5. Does anyone shrink wrap their soy votives? I just started to wrap mine and much to my dismay most of the ones I did Monday have frosted terribly. I am using my embossing/heatgun sparingly as well as to not overheat them. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  6. I called and emailed until I got a response. I really like the dyes so far but I cannot afford delays. I think everyone should just keep calling and emailing, myself included since I need to order more of some colors.
  7. I had some concerns of the same nature as well. I really like the dyes but the delays can be costly if you have a deadline to meet.
  8. I have been using their wicks for awhile now. I started with the 700 series for my soy candles and I also use them in my parafin as well. I love their wicks! I have not be disappointed at all.
  9. Update on Pryme. SO far I have had no frosting in my candles at all from these dyes. I still have not tried black yet but that is on this weekends agenda. I have to had to wick up either with the addition of the dyes. I do need to get a scale that measures better though. Right now my current scale measures in grams but not 1.5g for example. At this point I am very happy with this product.
  10. I just finished my test burn on the macapple votives. I did not have to change my wicking at all. My computer is down at home so I will update you all on Monday when I get back to work.
  11. I made those with the Red from the Plus collection. I have not tried the black yet. I did order all three color lines. I did do a test burn on the votive and the color has not really affected the burn this far but I a ways to go on the votive yet.
  12. I have a glare from my kitchen lights and tinfoil. I am using metal molds but no frost yet. These are the Pryme liquid dyes from Barnloft candles.
  13. I will keep you all posted! I am hoping this will be my answer to coloring soy. My customers have not complained about the plain ivory color but it is so boring!! I think adding a little color will liven up the sales a bit! I am going to try my container wax this weekend. I will post those later this weekend.
  14. I have also been testing the Premier 700 series wicks from wickit as well. I had tested MacApple @6% FO and no dye. I had excellent results and I am test burning for wicks with this new dye. I am only on the first burn and so far so good...no 'shrooms.
  15. I am using Simply Soy votive blend from Waxhouse since I can get it locally. Please bear with me if the picture is bad. I have never posted pics on the board before.
  16. I just got my Pryme colors today. I decided to try red out tonight. I love to make red candles and frost has always been an issue for me with other dyes and not being able to get a true red. I just unmolded 8 red votives scent MacApple and they look perfect! I am now going to patiently wait and see if they start to frost in the next few days. I am going to post the pic shortly if I can get the pic resized.
  17. I used to have cracked votives all the time. I think I finally figured out the main issue. I have a ceiling fan in my dining room right above the table and it was cooling the votives way to fast. I shut it off today and made sure my molds are warm and wax right temp and not a single cracked votive.
  18. I actually have an embossing gun from my rubber stamping days that works like a charm. It can still burn ya' good and it doesn't blow around quite so much heat like the heat guns you are all talking about.
  19. I know peak candle supplies is in colorado but it is well worth investing a kit for the type of candle you want to make.
  20. Here are my final test results with the Simply Soy Container and votive waxes: 8oz JJ: range from 760 to 767 even with Pryme soy dyes votives: range from 740 to 745 with Pryme soy dye as well tealights: range from 720-725 with Prume soy dye as well. If anyone orders from Waxhouse and uses their soy wax let me know. The owners said they would stock some various sizes of these wicks if their was enough interest. I live 15 minutes from them so this would be great! Deb
  21. I just got my dyes a month ago...anyway my computer crashed and I lost most of my file including the spreadsheet. Would anyone have a copy of it they could send me? TIA Deb
  22. My soy definitely gets better with age. I made a vanilla one last Jan and it did not seem too strong even at 9%. I got disgusted shoved in my candle closet and forgot about it until this past December. I open the jar and lit it and the throw just about blew my socks off! Than one 8oz JJ scented my whole house.
  23. I am currently looking at ordering the following sizes: 720 & 725 for tealights; 740 & 745 for votives; 760, 765, 767 for my metro jars from the Jarstore 8oz ones.
  24. Was that the Aztec site? I noticed they did not carry some of the sized I need otherwise I would have went that route to make life easier. I also do my power buying in January for the upcoming year. I am finish my last test on tealights right now.
