  1. may i ask why you add sugar to your water?
  2. i'm not sure the lye would kill it-i hope not! i plan on experimenting with a tried and true recipe and adding honey as the only new variable. i'm hoping for a bit of the wonderful moisturizing ,balancing and antibacterial properties honey brings to other skin care products.
  3. great! that is just the encouragement i needed! thanks!
  4. hello hello i would like to add honey to a batch of cp soap...when is the best time to do it? should i include it in my other calculations or just add a bit in at the trace? would there be a big difference? the lye calculator does not have honey listed, so i'm not sure how to calculate the lye...i'm inclined to just add a dolap or two at the trace...any suggestions please?
  5. okay, kitchen soap is used on hands to get rid of kitchen-ee smells and it is not harsh on the hands-cool. does anyone have a recipe for dish detergent?
  6. hi. when you say "kitchen soap" does that mean soap that you use to clean kitchen items like counter tops and dishes, or is this just a name for traditional soap made in the kitchen? the recipe looks really interesting and i'd like to try it! thanks kim
  7. Thanks for all the great info. i have a tendancy to jump to conclusions! the lye seemed the most guilty culprit
  8. i think i will try making my next batch without fragrance to see how it goes. and will re-check my eo stock! thanks for the advice! i'm going to take it
  9. i still have bottle. bought it at neighborhood co-op. aura cacia brand. it still smells ok...but i did go on clearance shortly after my purchase...maybe it was old but i couldnt tell by smelling it!
  10. 100.5 g sodium hydroxide 269.35 g water 297.65 g olive oil 227 g coconut oil 198.45 g palm oil 4 tsp lavender essential oil lye solution~96 F oils~93 F thanks!
  11. hello. i've made about 3 batches of cp soap and i can smell a residual lye smell. i dont like it! i use a hand mixture and know that im achieving a good trace before i pour. the soap itself is coming out great expect for the smell. i've been scenting with lavender eo. i have made the batches using oils at 93f and lye solution about the same. is that too hot maybe? i'm thinking of letting the lye cool a lot more first. think that will help??? thanks kim
  12. i made a pillar candle with lavender eo. the cold throw was excellent and the hot was pretty good. i also tried corriander eo but didnt have as good results. i love eo's tho and am going to continue to experiment. it is slow going because of the expense! keep us posted if you do try any!
  13. ah. i'll start keeping track of that. thanks
