  1. Hi everyone, I need some help on finding a true red color. I just bought red liquid dye from Candle Science and tried to color strawberry. I added 14 drops red and 1 drop black to 2.5 pounds wax. Candles cured and they are pink. Is there a red dye liquid or chips that are really red?
  2. Has any one out there compared Peak's Cucumber Cantelope to Just Scent's Cucumber Melon? I really need to know before I buy. I made Peak's today and it smells great. Let me know what ya'll think
  3. Thanks ya'll. I'll test it out! Probably just should have bought green dye to make it easier. Nothing worse than not getting the color you want.
  4. Hi everyone. I'm making cucumber canteloupe today and I want them to be a light shade of green. All I have are blue and yellow liquid dyes. How many drops of each do you think would make that?
  5. I appreciate that. I'm having a logo designed right now so I won't need those. I just did the math and I'm paying more for my jj I buy from the grocery store than it would cost for the smooth sided jars from Fillmore including the shipping. I am kicking myself in the butt right now:angry2: Wish I found Fillmore sooner
  6. Thanks. I just ordered 200 antique pewter lids from Fillmore. They have very good prices. I just wish I could order the smooth sided jars, but I have 120 quilted jj I need to use. Guess I should have thought ahead. At this rate I'll never make a living off of this:o What are Kraft labels?
  7. Hi everyone, I was wondering what size and shape labels you would use on an 8oz jj? I imagine circle, but was also thinking about oval. Also, my jars are the quilted type. Do you think there will be a problem getting them to stick Where is a good place to have them printed?
  8. I just bought a case from Bitter Creek South 3 weeks ago for 59.00 a case. I thought that was a pretty good price:undecided
  9. I loked at the site, but what is a mm compared to in.? I need a lid that will fit 2.5 in. dia. jar. My math is not good Please forgive me:o
  10. Can someone out there tell me where to get these at a reasonable price? The jelly jars I use have awful looking lids. The best price I found so far was with Bitter Creek. Still pretty high in my opinion. I'm not sure yet if I want silver or plain gold. Depends on how my logo comes out.:undecided TIA
  11. Thanks ya'll. All I have right now is yellow and blue dye. I have an order due in 3 days for 30 of these. Guess I should have thought about this before. What about hunter green color chips? Do you think I could use them and a few drops of blue? I don't want to mess these up.
  12. I have a lot of orders for this scent. My problem is I need color suggestion. I just switched from color chips to liquid dye. I used to color it with teal and they always came out a light blue. I want to get them a bluish green. Not real dark. Should I mix blue and yellow? Or will that just turn out dark green? TIA
  13. Thank you everyone. After reading suggestions I have a few ideas. Sorry I'm being so difficult:o
  14. I am definitly going for dark reddish black. Still don't understand what the blue is for? Maybe beautilful color. I just don't know? I need exact formula with the blue. Thanks
  15. I want to create a logo with prairiane(don't know if I spelled that right) Can anyone out there give me examples or somewhere to go for ideas? I am at a loss I really need ideas quick:undecided Thanks, Trisha
  16. Hi, Is that per 1 pound? What does the violet do?
  17. Thank you!! Everyone. I thought I was going to go nuts. I know you can't please everyone all of the time, but I try. I want my customers to come back, but I guess if it is that hard forget it. I do use black to darken colors. Just never seems to be darks enough. I ordered liquid dye from CandleScience. Purple and black is what I used for Mandarin Plum. Could you please tell me your formula for Black Cherry? Thanks SOO Much:D
  18. Well, I guess it's both. When I think I have the color right, one customer likes it and the other doesn't. So I change it to what the other customer wants. I get happy with it, then it's not good enough for the other. I can't make myself happy with the color I'm producing becuase others don't like it. I wish I could just set my standard colors. I just have not gotten there yet on a few. I'm spending more money than I'm making on experimentation.
  19. OK... If I have to change colors for every customer again I will die:angry2: I have a few fragrances that my customers buy all of the time. I hear complaints about the colors that they are not dark enough, then too dark, then not enough depth. I cannot get a Purple/Plum good enough for Peaks Mandarin Plum. Also same problem with Black Cherry. I use color chips and now experimenting with liquid dyes. What should I do? Where can i get a color chart to mix liquid dyes very well? Thanks for putting up with the venting
  20. Thank ya'll so much. So who else out there prefers liquid dye? I have not used it yet. I'll read on for more tips. Thanks again!
  21. Thanks for the response:D I have used 3 different waxes. Peaks Performance Blend, J223, and J50. J50 is what I am having a hard time with. Are liquid dyes any better than dye chips? Also, still need suggestion for color for JS China Rain. Thanks
  22. O.K. I think I'm going crazy. I started making candles 8 months ago. My colors always turned out great. Very rich and dark. No matter what wax I used. Now all of the sudden I can't get any of my colors where I want them to be:confused: I am sure I heat the wax High enough to melt my color chips. Is this just bad luck? Also, I need a good combination or just plai color for Black Cherry( minie isn't working) And a suggestion for China Rain. Someone plese help. I am SO MAD I want to give UP!!
  23. Thanks so much. Now all I need is a company name, logo, and everything else. Guess I put the cart before the horse as usual.
  24. Thanks Sami, To tell you the truth I have noidea if it is laser or inkjet. I don't even know the difference. I have printed photos on it and they turned out ok. Not the best color. For my labels I do want color and graphics. I guess it's just a matter of choosing the right paper to print on if I understand you correctly. Thank you for the help:grin2:
  25. Hi everyone. My business has just taken off and I need to make labels. I have already found great advice on what program to use. My question is what printer do I need to print my own labels. I have an Epson Stylus Photo 820. Anyone know if this will work? Any suggestions welcome! TIA
