  2. Quick ? about making vanilla container in 8oz jj I'm using J50 and just want to know if you would use LX 14 or LX 12 TIA
  3. Someone please help. I really need to no any more experience about mushrooming. I want to start selling, but I can't until I'm satisfied. To me mushrooming and black soot are unacceptable. Thanks bugsb1 for your input. How do you like the wicks I sent you?
  4. OK I have tested so many wicks and I am so frustrated. At the current moment I am testing LX14, LX18, 51Z, 44-32-18Z, and RRD34. I use 8oz JJ and either J50 or J223. I can't find a wick that does that doesn't mushroom:angry2: I was wondering if there is such a thing. When I buy candles at the store they rarely mushroom. Can someone let me in on the secret?
  5. I've heard it should be more like $1 per ounce. I don't know who you're selling to. I sell my 8oz jj to my friends for $6
  6. Thanks for the advice everyone:highfive: I'm going to try and mix them and see how it comes out. I can always just use red later on if it looks screwed up:rolleyes2
  7. I was kind of curious what it would look like to mix a red and brown. Has anyone done that?
  8. What color do you use for Hot Apple Pie FO? Last time I made some I used a rust chip. I'm out now and only have a few shades of red and brown. What would you use? TIA
  9. Anyone?? There is a sale in my area for these jars. I don't want to buy and be disapointed. 40 cents a jar is good only if you can use them
  10. Can anyone tell me what the diameter of the 16 oz mason is? I am used to using 8 oz jj and want to try these out. Any suggestions on wick size? I use J50 and J223. I have some LX 18 and LX 22 but they are only 6" long. Do ya'll think they will work or are they too short. TIA
  11. This is on the homepage with instructions http://www.candletech.com/budgetmelter/index.htm
  12. There are plenty of single pour waxes. I personally use several. J50, J223 and Peaks Performance Blend. I love all of them. I'm a novice also and I haven't been able to tell the difference. Hope that helps.
  13. you spend more time on this message board than actually making candles? I'm just wondering if I'm alone on this. I love to get all the info and pas it on as it comes. Because of my aunry 2 year old son, I have my challenges with getting anything done. I have to make my candles when he goes to bed. Usually around 9 pm By this time, like right now my brain does not function too well and I just want to pass out. My question is, how do ya'll single moms and dads keep up with it? I feel so weake right now
  14. HEHMOM, please don't get too upset from the answers you get on this board. I know they can somtimes be upsetting, but 9 times out of 10 people are just trying to help. We just all have different personalities and that is what I think makes the world go round. Just my opinion, but how boring would it be if we all said YES to the same thing and SMILED when we were NOT HAPPY;) I also get offended sometimes, but ya know what.......nobody can insult or embarrass you unless you let them. So please feel free to ask anything you want. Plenty of Kind people to help
  15. You are right. I just never looked into sample packs before. I didn't realize there were that many options. Thank you so much for your info
  16. You are more than welcome. Good luck with your testing. I am also testing J223. It is so hard to find the "perfect" wax. I have had ups and downs with all. Especially wicking. I'm sure all here are the same. That's why this board is such a great place. TEAM WORK:highfive:
  17. I know it's not instructions but I found it helpfull
  18. Someone posted this a while back. Hope this helps ya. If it's not clickable, please let me know how to do that. I'm not too computer savvy:embarasse http://www.candlesandsupplies.com/WaxComparison.pdf
  19. Hi Laura, I see what you're saying, but I only make container candles. Don't the sample packs include sizes for votives and others? That's just what I thought. I'm probably wrong like always:embarasse
  20. Thank you so much:highfive: I'm so glad I found this message board. Like you said, if I bought sample packs I would have so many laying around unused. Probably go more insane than I already am:p Maybe I'll ask someone around here to trade a few with me.
  21. I probably should get a sample pack. I always try to go the cheapest route and wind up spending more in the long run. Don't know why I do it. I got LX 18 and they seem to be too much. Wanted to try LX 14 but then ran accross RRD so thought I would ask about them to maybe try. I appreciate the input. It'll probably save me alot of time and $$. What RRD would you suggest for my application?
  22. I was trying to do some research on the best RRD wick for 8oz jj. Then I came across some RRD 37 for sale on ebay. Do ya'll think these would work. I use J50 and J223. (still haven't found wich is best) Please let me know what ya'll think. TIA
  23. Does it have a fuel smell at all? I have not tried anything from candle cocoon, but I'll check prices. Thanks.
  24. Who do you think has the best? Also, what shade of red do you use for it? Anyone had any problems with this FO for wicking or anything else? TIA
  25. I just poured my containers tonight. Used Peak's Perfomance Blend. 9% FO bannana nut bread from Just Scents. LX18 wicks. Will let you know tomorrow how they burn. Good luck and I hope you get my wicks soon:grin2:
