  1. I've made some really nice candles. Just made more tonight to fill the order. I don't have a reputation to ruin. I am well aware of the safty aspects and would never sell an unsafe candle. I do appreciate your input, but a promise is a promise. I can't ignore an order.
  2. I am selling some 8oz jj to my neighbor. She wants to give them out as X-mas gifts to her friends and co-workers. I don't have a company name, labels or anything. These will be the first I will sell. How can I dress them up. Also what is an easy way to label them for the scent? I was thinking some twine or hemp with little tags, but I don't want them to look cheesy. Please need suggestions. TIA
  3. Hi Tim, I just ordered LX18 and LX22 for my 8oz jj but I got the impression from others on this board that may be too much. I have not ben able to test them yet. I think they will be OK because I use high FO and dark color. It was suggested to me that I use LX14 in jj, but I don't know. I saw the wicking chart from candlescience.com and it was just my impression that 18 or 22 would be right for me.
  4. Can I change my username to younut? Sounds much more compliant to my personality than trisha
  5. Yeah, they are strong now. I lit two to test wicks and my husband had to leave the house. Now I know how to get rid of him:yay: Thank God for candle making. I'll have to make lots more like that to keep him gone so I can live in my madness, lunatic world alone:p
  6. I guess so. I started out crazy as a child. As time progressed I got crazier. Now I make candles, so it's beyond that now. I guess I should call my self INSANE. What comes after that? I need to know what to call myself tomorrow:shocked2:
  7. They didn't smoke at all. They are very clean burning. Don't worry, I'm not going to sell them. I think I'm going to stick with Peak's Performance Blend from now on. I know it is a great wax with excellent hot throw. Although I do have a slab of J223 on the way. Will the testing ever end. I'm going crazy:p
  8. I like Clean Breeze. Sounds like it smells for sure. Thanks for your input. Can you help me with a name for my business?
  9. My original though was spring rain. That is probably already taken. Wish I was more creative. Still can't think of a name for my candle business. Seems like they're all taken. But enjoying the fragrance:grin2:
  10. This was a pleasant surprise, for once. I melted 2 pounds of J50 and added 2oz of Peaks Clean Cotton. I poured in my 8oz jj and waited 2 days to cure. There was no hot throw whatsoever when I test burned. Guess I didn't stir enough or get it hot enough. (who knows) So I remelted and added 2oz of Juniper Breeze. Wow. I didn't know J50 could hold that much FO:grin2: That's a total of 4oz for 2 pounds of wax. Anyway, they smell great. Just don't know what to call the fragrance. What do ya'll think?
  11. You are right. They ship fast. I just went to call them and found out my order was shipped a few hours ago. That was about 5 hours after I ordered. Incredibly fast. I think the 18 and 22 will probably be worth a try because my waxes has between 9-12% fragrance load and I always add super rich color. I'll wait and see. Thanks to all for the input:highfive:
  12. about Peaks Performance Blend? Has anyone compared it to J223 or J50? Peaks is the first wax I used. Then I tried J50 and I have a slab of J223 on the way. So far I think the perdormance blend is way better than J50. Let me know what you think. TIA:grin2:
  13. UhOHH Looks like I made a boo boo. I'll try them out, but looks like I'll be selling them from what ya'll are saying. I guess I shouldn't trust the wick guide from candlescience:mad:
  14. I am making 8oz jj with preblended parrafin. I hope the 18 and 22 aren't too much. I already ordered them so guess I'll have to make do. Or maybe I'll get lucky
  15. Thanks. Just ordered 18 and 22. I think candlescience has the best price:confused: From what I could find anyway. Can't wait to test. I'm tired of zinc
  16. Thank Ya'll.. I need all the help I can get. Are most of you LX users also Soy users? Dosn't matter to me, just wondering. Any other suggestions welcome.
  17. Hello Llyrellin, When you get all of your data would you mind letting me know your conclusions? I am very interested in this as well. I have a presto pot and will eventually install a spigot. Good work:yay:
  18. OK thanks. I just read on candlscience website that if you use high fragrance and dark color you should use 18 or 22. Call me stupid, but what is the diameter of the 8ozjj?:embarasse
  19. Does anyone use these for 8oz jj? I was thinking about trying LX18 or LX22. Anyone have any experience with this. Also, are these wicks coated or are they just cotton? TIA
  20. I'm sorry. I meant Aztec. I'm going nuts.
  21. Does anyone know where to find these. I saw Peaks has some but I was looking for a better price. Any suggestions
  22. Thanks. I was thinking about remelting and adding a touch of cinnamon, but I think Susan is right. I'm just a little too critical of my own product sometimes. My neighbor came in and said it smelled great. You can smell it all through the house.
  23. I really love their Mandarin Plum. It is pretty strong. I'm in the same boat. I would love to know what their strongest scents are
  24. OK thanks I'll try that. What if it a cheap FO. Could that cause it?
  25. I just poured some jj with hot apple pie. Smelled great until I lit one for test burn. It smells like apple pie, but puts off a kind of fuel smell. Almost like lantern oil or something. Is this normal?
