  1. So I got my order yesterday. First I have to say the packaging was top notch. The three I got came in amber jars like Fillmore uses. The 16 oz was in a cardboard mailing tube and the other smaller jars were wrapped in heavy foam like packaging. The caps were then also sealed in plastic. Not sure it has to be quite so heavy duty and that may account for some of the higher costs.

I ordered a pound of the coconut lemongrass. It is lovely, I put that in wax right away last night. I also ordered Old West, I know not another leather scent but it is very light on the leather has more of a Hay smell to it that could be the dried brush and firewood. My husband smelled it and immediately thought it would work as a nice book scent as I have been on the hunt for one and have not been happy mixing my own. I also got the cotton candy. Both hubby and my son like the one from Candle science better so I will see if it is better in wax.  Since it is so pricey I am going to call Lebermuth and see if they are maybe the supplier for them as Lebermuth has the Coconut Lemongrass and it is much cheaper per pound.

My website is my market. I just did a quick check of all of the apps that integrate with my platform (BIG platform-not mom and pop) and thought that I would list some of the top loyalty apps in case you have not checked any of these to see if they would apply to in-person sales. Looks as if many also can reward for referrals, capture email addresses and more. Seems most also integrate with Facebook and other social media:

    Sweet Tooth

    S Loyalty

    Swell

    Beans

    Loyalty Lion

Thank you for the app options. They do look good but some are a bit pricey for me but maybe good for some others on the board. Don't you hate when you are looking for something particular but just cannot seem to find what you want. I may just give Flok a try.

  3. I also do most of my sales at markets and fairs. I was hoping to find something that I could use with a QR code. They scan it when they make a purchase. I looked at Flok and it may have its possibilities but was hoping there might be some other suggestions.

  4. I am glad that you all agree with me that this is just wrong. I have never done this nor will I ever. I had a friend a few years back decide she was going to make candles after talking with me about it. She mod podged pansy petals and dried flowers on the inside of a jar before filling it with wax. It looked real pretty until it caught fire. Needless to say she does not make candles anymore. I was just amazed at how many I found on Etsy like this. Should be listed as all natural soy candle vegan friendly bubble gum scented essential oil torch.

  5. Has anyone used any kind of loyalty card app? I have a paper business card like frequent buyer card but people always forget to bring them back and I think a lot of people just get rid of them. I am looking for an online loyalty reward like app. Something that they can use on their phone since just about everyone has a smart phone. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  6. Good afternoon everyone,

I wanted to get some opinions on this subject. I have been poking around Etsy to do some price comparison and keep coming across candles with dried flowers and herbs on the top and throughout the candles. Many of the shops that offer them had over 100 great reviews, not a one mentioning the house almost burned down. I was always under the impression that this caused a huge fire hazard dried florals and flame equals trouble. This is the main reason I have never done it myself or even tried it. What do you all think of this? Have any of you ever done it successfully? I am attaching a picture of one for example. This is not my candle and there is no business name to protect the innocent.

  7. So you are all enablers. I placed an order with them over the weekend. A very small order of just 3 scents as they are very pricey. I ordered the Coconut Lemongrass, if I love it I may try Lebermuth as they are much cheaper on this scent. I also ordered Cotton Candy, I had been using the one from CS. I do not sell much of it so I never really looked for another supplier. The other scent i ordered was Old West. I am not sure if this is going to be like all the other leather scents I have tried but we will see. Other than the price the shipping is long for me as it s 4 day delivery for me so I will not be getting my order until Monday.

You by far are not the only one. It's why I'm not allowed to be at a show and am production only in our biz, because we had one of those all naturals next to us who were selling bubble gum essential oil and I got in trouble for hissing something like how do you make bubble gum essential oil? Chew and spit into the wax? I don't mind not doing the shows lol! Less aggravation now.

That is funny you called them out. I was at a fair yesterday and there were a few like that there. I figured I was not the only one who felt this way.

  9. While poking around the web I came across a candle web site that looked interesting. I was reading their about us page and this is what it said.  Name left out on purpose,    is a 100% Soy candle company that uses all natural essential oils. We pride ourselves on offering long burning candles with the freshest scents.  I then go to look at their scent choices and there are scents like Hansel and Gretels House, Pumpkin Latte and Pecan Praline.

Am I the only one that gets frustrated by these comments? It is so misleading to the consumer thinking the candle is made with essential oils. Did this person grow and grind up little kids and sweets to extract the oil for the Hansel and Gretels scent?  I am done my rant is over. I just wanted to hear what others had to say about the topic.

  10. I just got my samples from Lebermuth today and it included leather bound books. I like it very subtle on the leather. I am thinking I may just try the recipe above of almond, grass and vanilla and add a touch of leather. I will let you know how it comes out. I tried just the three fragrances but I was a bit too heavy on the almond.

  11. Hi all I tried to edit my original post to just that and change the title but I cannot figure out how to.

So I poured Sassy today and it is nice. It is a clean smell with almost a hit of mint but not mint if you get what I mean, a refreshing clean. My husband thinks it is a bit perfumey. Since everyone on here is so creative can you give me some suggestion. I know it is tough without actually smelling it. Someone said Alpine forest but to me that sounds too much like a winter scent.

I ordered some Aztec fragrances during their anniversary sale and got a new one called Sassy. It was not what I expected. My family says it smells like laundry detergent. the description is

Spunky and bold this floral scent has its own cheeky style.

Clean , Ozony fresh , Citrusy and slightly green aldehydic - Top Notes
Rose, Jasmine and Lily Type of Floral -Middle Notes
Earthy , Mossy and Musky – Bottom Notes

  12. I received my sample of Horse yesterday. I like it but my family not so much. One son said it smelled like urine another said like the rabbits cage and my daughter said it smelled like the chicken coop. I get a strong hay like scent from it. I will put it in wax this weekend and see how it is.

I am curious if it has been a good seller for anyone. Now to come up with a name cause Sassy is not going to make it.

  14. Thanks Incendia I did not even realize it was an actual flower. Very similar to the Queen Anne Lace I used to pick as a kid then press in book pages. Now I may mix the two together and use Angels Lace??

  15. Good evening everyone,

I am looking for some renaming suggestions. I ordered Rain and Angelica from flaming candle. I like the scent but hate the name. What would you suggest? Here is the scent description, This light, fresh scent opens with topnotes of clean citrus followed by sweet florals of jasmine and violets and rests on a base of cedar, sandalwood, musk, tonka, and light amber notes Inspired by Jo Malone's Rain & Angelica, a scent in the London Rain collection.

    Thanks,

SaveOnScents sells some interesting FOs like "Cement" and "Basement." Has anyone tried any of their novelty scents or any from another vendor that are accurate representations of what they claim to be?

I actually received 3 samples from them yesterday. I have been on a hunt for Sawdust or Wood shop smell. My daughter also wanted me to find an Old Spice Classic scent. They arrived yesterday and I have to say I am very disappointed in the wood scents. Neither smell remotely like wood to me. I Also had a few others sniff OOB as everyones noses can be different. The Old Spice was okay but nothing to write home about. I found their prices to be very high, the one ounce of Old Spice was $10 something. I will be looking in another direction for my wood scents.

I'm so bad at picking scents.  I need florals too.  The Daffodil like everyone has said here on the forum in awesome in 464.  It truly is a very powerful scent, so much so, I had to blow it out after a few hours.  But that's fine with me....At least it throws and works in 464.  You can always cut back on a scent.

I have coming this week some "Warm Apple PIe".   I've never tried this from them.  But their oils are so good, so here's hoping this one will be also.

I also have coming 12 of those camoflauge lids for my hunting label jar presentation.

I also ordered some new jars that basically is all sides are free from any embossing so you can put a label on any side.  There is only 1 side that is way at the bottom of the jar the embossing of "Ball" but it is way at the bottom.  Actually by accident the other day I stopped at Wallmart and found these exact jars for 8.49 a case of 12 (16oz) and bought 3 cases....They only had 2 cases left.  How stupid I didn't buy them also.  I hope they reorder them as they are the perfect jar that I use all the time and there is no shipping on them.  It's horrible to have to order jars the same style as you can get in grocery stores and have to pay shipping when the grocery stores run out of them.

The Warm Apple Pie is good. If you like bakery the Warm Vanilla Carmel is a great scent.

Let us know how they are. I really wanted to love the lavender sage Rosemary but it was too perfumery to me :(

That is a huge seller for me. I hate straight Lavender but of course have to make it. The Lav Sage and Rosemary from Fillmore and Lav Cuc and Sage from CS are huge sellers for me.

  20. Good morning,

I am in the hunt for a dupe of Old Spice Classic. I have ordered an ounce from SOS but would like to know if anyone has any other suggestions. The extreme at SOS is going to run me $65.00 a pound that is a bit pricey in my book.

    Thanks,
