  1. It really doesn't matter if it gels or not, I think it's a personal preference. But what I do is the 170 degree for an hour then turn off the oven and leave overnight (I usually soap in the evenings). Sometimes I see the gel, sometimes I don't. And Congratulations on your first batch
  2. Wow, I'd be all over that booth as a customer. It looks great
  3. Thank you. I used 2 boxes, the full one for the bottom then cut the other one to size to make the steps
  4. A couple of years ago I needed a display for my soap for shows. I didn’t have the money to buy any so I made these using old priority boxes. I just used heavy duty strapping tape and then painted them and they worked great. Then I just threw them away at the end of the show! And if you need a lotion bar display
  5. Thanks everyone. I didn't even think of my heat gun and I've got it sitting right by the candles to zap the tops to make them smooth
  6. I'm the proud new owner of a real pour pot I don't normally pour larger numbers of candles at a time but after testing for months I now am making more at a time. So I just bought a pour pot at Michales with my 40% coupon and poured my first dozen tonight of Mac Apple. Now what's the best way to clean it for my next dozen? I'm thinking of putting it into a hot water bath to melt the leftover wax and wipe out with paper towels, but just wondering if there is an easier way. Oh why did I wait so long for one of these?
  7. I CPOP almost all of my batches. Put in at 170 for about an hour, turn oven off and leave overnight (I usually soap in evenings) and in the morning VOILA! I've never had a problem with overheating, although the soaps that I have made with GM or honey I "dont" CPOP.
  8. Very nice. I'm a soap stamp spaz but yours looks great
  9. I CPOP all of my batches and have never had this happen. I put the oven on 170, pop it in for about an hour, turn off the oven and leave it for hours, mostly overnight. I have never had it puff up. Wonder what happened?
  10. Thanks. I haven't bought them yet! I don't have any zinc wicks, just HTP's and some CD's.
  11. I need to make some beer candles in pilsner glasses. Any suggestion on what wick to test? I've got a lot of various HTP's
  12. Great job. I made my first batch last weekend too
  13. That looks like mine. Mine is a nice thick creamy scrub. The recipe posted here should get yours like that too
  14. If you mean the clear push up ones, no they don't leak. Personally I wouldn't use a lotion bar unless it was in a tube. I don't like the kind that are in tins. I sold a lot of lotion bars at my last show
  15. I love them Brenda. You take very nice photos!
  16. Yes and I think I got mine from the Herbarie
  17. You got it! One of my log molds is 52 oz of oils. I'll weight that out from the masterbatch, then do my thing with the lye. It's really a time saver, you don't have to weigh out everything for each batch. This only works if you use the same recipe though! I'm still too chicken to do the lye masterbatch though so I do that for each batch. Just make sure you stir really well before taking out the oils for your batch. My recipe is pretty liquid, even with the shortening, so I give it a good stir and ladel it all out
  18. My base recipe has CP in them. I do not deviate from that when soaping. I've got other bars that has shea in them and I make that from scratch. I can't think of anyother way to do that.
  19. The funny thing is I normally put this into a 3 gallon bucket. I had a 5 gallon bucket and it didn't fit! So we put it all into a HUGE tub, I blended it all together then split into 2 5 gallon buckets. I use a ladel to get it out. All of my soaps, except for 2, use this base so I'm ready to start soaping.
  20. I'm getting ready for my fall shows and just made an 800 master batch of oils I normally do 300 oz, but wanted to make lots more. That's a lot of oils
