  1. Another to die for FO from Greenleaf, received it today, oh man, it's a good one!
  2. Thanks very much top! You straightened me out on a few things there!
  3. What is the difference between one pours and those that aren't, (besides the obvious pouring difference), do the one pour waxes "give up" something else in order to be one pours? Just curious really.
  4. I'd mix it with ocean or rain. I made a mix of 3 parts rain to 1 part sweetgrass and 1 part sweetpea and it was really nice
  5. Leprechauns Dance calls for 3/4 lilac to 1/2 fresh cut grass another one called Leprechauns Magic calls for equal parts grass and heather I believe. I'd try a little mint, a little floral and maybe a touch of vanilla with it and see how it turns out
  6. search ebay for "clear transfer paper", several come up. hth.
  7. My sister bought a candle from a lady last year, and the jar broke on her like that. My sis is a very good candle burner too, always makes sure the wick is trimmed and never really power burns them. Probably the jar.
  8. Which wax are you getting all the smoking from? 4627? I was testing the 4627 extensively when GL 70/30 came along, I was also testing j50 and a little j223. I like the GL wax. 4627 has a great throw but I think GL is right there in the running with it. And, it's not near as messy to work with. I'm still testing j50 to a degree, I'm more focused on GL because I've never tried any soy wax before and it's a learning process for me (soy wax, new wicks, all that) But I like that's it's part soy. I read all these horrid things about soy and wasn't brave enough to try it, (frosting, ect.) And I don't know why but I was under the assumption that wax with soy in it just wouldn't throw as good as paraffin. You should get enough GL for testing to see if you would want to test it more I think, I think I'm gonna love this wax. just my opinion
  9. Some of their fragrances have descriptions on the individual ebay page, such as the big kahuna , it says : A sweet floral blend of rose, gardenia, lilac, and hawthorn on a background of French Vanilla, I can't smell the vanilla at all, it's an awesome fragrance and men love it too. SATIN SHEETS - A refreshing green floral blend, with a lively mixture of tulip, jasmine, field grass, and osmanthus, resting on a white musk base. This one is a good thrower, but I like GL satin sheets better but they are a totally different fragrance. Tabu, like the perfume, my mom likes the perfume and she loves this too, so I guess it's pretty close to what it should be, good thrower. Spearmint- this one is a light thrower to me, i like them stronger. Herbal moss - this is an awesome scent I think, smells like a man. (like aftershave or cologne,) very strong thrower, had to wick up on it. Harvest spice - kinda smells like grandmas kitchen, i can smell cinnamon in it, but it may just be me? I dunno, good and very strong thrower too. Black love - like the incense i guess (no idea, haven't smelled the incense) very strong thrower. Pleasures - real good thrower, smells a lot like the perfume. Beautiful - another perfume copy, don't know if this one is real close though but it still smells good and throws great. Sweet Indulgence - Chocolate w/ nuts , smells great, strong thrower. Smoke Eliminator - VERY POWERFUL thrower, my mom says it smells like baby hugs fo. Cactus Blossom - Awesome thrower, smells good but can't describe it. Cedar- smells weak oob, haven't put it in wax yet. Sage - very strong oob , haven't put in wax yet. Heliotrope - Nice smell oob, haven't put in wax yet Madagascar spice - I can smell clove in it, nice though, men seem to like it. Good thrower. Vanilla - smells like cake to me, very strong Patchouli - strong, smelled funky kinda oob, smelled like patchouli when put in wax I'm sure there's more I have but can't think of them right now. Please keep in mind these were in paraffin. Cucumber cantalope is the only one I've put in soy so far and I love that one too. Also, to me, some of these fo's smell funky oob, but change into beautiful things when put in wax. Oh yeah, Leather - made my house smell like a saddle shop for sure, another strong one.
  10. I have several from candle chem, they're great throwers, but I can't tell you how they do in soy, I am testing gl70/30 but so far have only test the cucumber cantalope from candle chem in this blend and it throws good. Sorry, haven't got around to testing the other ones yet. My favorite all time ever fo is The Big Kahuna from Candlechem, it's a light scent but still a super thrower. (sorry, don't know how it does yet in soy tho)
  11. The wet spots probably aren't going to bother customers either. I wouldn't worry too much about them.
  12. Are the Scent Event FO's all good throwers? Curious because I see there is a coop starting on them and I've never ordered any of them before.
  13. I tested J223 against GL 70/30 and to me there was not even a close comparison, the GL was so much stronger. I have a J50 and a GL (curing) of the same scent and will test them against each other in a few days. You do have to let the GL cure a bit though, at least on some oils. It is a really strong thrower and so far, I really, really, really like it. Another good thing is you can order just a 1lb sample at first to see if it's something you want to try more of, and the customer service is awesome.
  14. I really hope some of the more experienced chandlers will answer this post. I did read that your melt pool should be below 175 degrees. I've checked a few times and had them anywhere from 125 to about 140. Think i'll test the melt pools of different wicks and see how it all turns out, compare melt pool temps to hot throw to melt pool size, etc. Interesting huh?
  15. These are wonderful, I have some and I love them, and they're priced right too!
  16. Ordered 10 1oz samplers, got them today! Here's what I got, Green tea & Cucumber - Love it! Maduro - totally love it! Energizing - love it! Violet Musk- LOVE IT, LOVE IT! This is awesome! Satin Sheets - Love it! Magic of India - Love it, smells like something .... can't put my finger on it. Victorian Garden - Very nice! Clean Cotton - Really like this one, nice Hawaiian Breeze - Nice, it smells like something too Honeysuckle - Good one These are great fragrances, the violet musk is my favorite, but I'm a musk lover anyway and this one is great! I'm excited!!
  17. I tested two candles of the same batch, one with a zinc wick, one with a htp wick, the htp wick definitely had more of a throw, since the wick isn't responsible for the throw and the melt pool is, i wondered, maybe the htp has a little hotter melt pool and that contributed to the throw? I don't know, but there was a big difference in the two
  18. Something you might try is to post in the classified section of this board and get a pound or so of each of the waxes you want to try. You might even find someone who has more than one of the waxes you want and can get two or three from the same person, it's worth a try. The shipping can be a little high on just a pound or so but it still beats buying a 10lb sampler and finding out you just cannot stand that wax.
  19. For scent throw, I like 4627 and J50. 4627 is extremely ooey gooey sticky wax but has an awesome throw, J50 has an awesome throw too. A lot of people on this board like J223, I tried it and it doesn't have near the throw as the other two do for me. I'm testing the greenleaf 70/30 now and it's doing great too, I really like it so far.
  20. What if you put sand , embeds, then poured some gel on it, then put the soy candle on top of that, layered like, that would look cool I think.
