I decided to make pillowcases and put their names on them as one of the girl's Christmas gifts. This is the first of seven and for Kylie who graduates high school this year. Easy and I was happy with it. Used my new Janome and now think I need an embroidery machine too! Thanks for looking. Beth

I have done many preschool crafts for different themes at our local library (for 11 yrs) and usually you can just Google kids crafts and get many ideas. Or, if for church, you can put in the theme (we just did Paul at VBS) and crafts and get lots of help. Thank you for your answers. It sounds like fusible web would be the easiest and then try a few samples of machine zig zag and hand sewing to see which turns out the nicest. This is my first quilt and it is king size and I think coming out nice. Hey, the dog, cat and husband aren't to critical. I'm finally learning how to make flying geese without wasting material. Took me 48 blocks so far so you can see I am somewhat of a slow learner! Will post a picture when it is finished. Thanks again. Beth

How do you applique on a quilt border without using the fusible web and having unfinished seams? The shapes are leaves, so irregular and maybe I'll just have to fuse? I tried turning under an edge, and it was horrible. If I do fuse, how do you finish. I don't have a blanket stitch on my machine and my hand work is lacking quality. Any ideas would be appreciated. Does she quilt? Lots and lots of kits available though some are pricey. Or get her a package of fat quarters, charms or ??? http://www.connectingthreads.com/ has yardage that is pretty reasonable. Placemats, table runners and such don't require tons of material. Just a thought. You are so nice to think of her needs. Beth

These are so neat. My 6 teen granddaughters would love making them. They were excited about the duck tape prom dresses till they tried a billfold...but these are so pretty and they love jewelry. Now I know where my next money will be spent. Thank you for the web sites. Beth

This may not be much help as I can't give a site at the moment, but I have seen floating candle molds that are deeper than the little tart molds. Maybe that would increase the burning time. Probably google molds etc. Beth

Hi. Our sewing group just made our pastor and his wife a t-shirt throw from their deceased son's shirts. We found a quilt pattern of different sized blocks all working together being put together with sashing. We used fusible interfacing, cut the different sized squares of intersting pictures, logos, labels etc. And then we just sewed them together with a plain color for sashing and binding. We didn't use the whole shirt. It turned out really nice and seems to have brought them comfort. I don't see why you couldn't do the same with multiple squares and make a bed sized one for your son. My granddaughter wants a jean quilt when she leaves for college. Thank goodness she is only a sophmore and I'm collecting jeans now! Good luck. It will turn out awesome. Beth
